Highly recommend K-Hand. Detroit house producer and DJ, saw her during Movement weekend and she was probably my second favorite set of the entire weekend.
definitely going to investigate this further...really would like to see one of the shows during this run at smartbar.

I'd say go to most of them if you can swing it. They've got a nice crop of talent throughout the entire month.

Well I can't swing all of them..I mean I definitely wish I could, but dispensable income is hard to come by right now, and I usually end up working on weekends, too. So I'm mostly just looking for one to sneak away to.
I'll just stop here because I could drool over this lineup for hours haha.
You can continue if you like. I like reading recommendations in this thread. That goes for everyone else too, please continue to link/mention the stuff you like.
Floorplan/Robert Hood has so many damn good songs. These are all under the name Floorplan on Spotify. We Magnify His Name Tell You No Lie Confess Phobia
My favorite Bicep tracks: In Yer Face (Bicep Remix) Lovelee Dae (Bicep Remix) Dahlia - Original Mix
This is really solid and there will be more additions and a ton of other great events happening in the city, but I honestly think the electronic acts at Primavera are far better this year so far.

Sonar could've spent their Justice/Prydz money one something more interesting.

I didn't end up making it out to this, I'll need to listen to this later to see what I missed out on.
I did make it to Detroit Swindle, and I had fun but for some reason I think I had my expectations too high. I enjoyed their set, but I probably wouldn't pay to see them live again for awhile.
I'm pretty excited for Matthew Dear this weekend, I really enjoyed his DJ Kicks album.

Do you end up hitting Smartbar quite often? I was wondering if you had any other recs for places around the city to check out some shows. I know there are a lot of shows at the Mid, but I've never been a fan of theirs.

Where was this Daft Punk tribute at?
I go to Smart Bar all the time actually, probably more than I should lol. The Daft Punk Tribute was last weekend at Smart Bar. I've only been to the Mid once and I hated it, it would take someone like Jamie xx doing an after show there to get me to go back (which he actually did when he played Spring Awakening, I wasn't in town for it though).
I'm pretty new to Chicago, were you thinking just for electronic shows or music venues in general?

Mostly electronic music. All I can think of is Smart bar, the Mid (which does suck), Spybar (saw FlyLo here and it was pretty awesome), and that's about it really. Never checked out the warehouse listings on RA, so thanks for the heads up on that, Foz

Please report back after Matthew Dear. I'm really hoping work cooperates and I get to see him in Austin next month. Even if I have to work, I'm considering just pulling an all nighter and getting zero sleep.

No problem, RA is really one of the best resources.
Metro, Smartbar's concert hall portion, sometimes gets electronic acts as well.

I saw Floating Points there last year, and it was the bee's knees. They also had an opening disco set from some guy, and I can't remember his name, but I really enjoyed it. I should probably look that up...
Edit: So after a little digging I realized it was Rob Sevier, whom I never heard of before, but he co-founded Numero Group

I've been to one of Spy Bar or Sound Bar, I can't remember which though since they're right next to each other and I was pretty drunk. It'd take a great artist to get me to go downtown, and I remember the basement was pretty bottle servicey and that's not really my vibe. I live a stone's throw from Smart Bar so it's pretty convenient. I've heard really good things about Primary too actually, I've been meaning to check it out for awhile. I heard they have a great sound system. I've never checked out any warehouse parties either. But, a fun fact about RA regarding Smart Bar is that sometimes if you buy a ticket for a show through RA instead of through the Smart Bar website there are significantly less fees, so if you're not buying a ticket in person it's pretty clutch.
I've only been to Metro once for a Smart Bar/Metro all building event and it was okay, but I'm really excited to see an actual concert when Vince Staples comes into town.

I'd have to say that Metro is probably my favorite venue in he city, although Thalia Hall is pretty fantastic. Just saw my first show there for Whitney, and I really enjoyed it

I saw Daughter and Lucy Dacus at Thalia Hall for a Lolla aftershow, I thought that place was awesome too. There are a lot of venues I haven't been to yet that I'm excited to visit.

You happen to stop by the restaurant underneath there before the show? I think it's called the Punch House, it's pretty solid all the way around.

No I didn't. I don't eat out too often. I'll have to give it a shot though
