As a Skee Mask superfan, that interview was very insightful. This quote in particular was pretty sobering:
You’re not a pop star or anything like that, but you are an established artist. I looked at your Spotify page, and it says that you have almost 123,000 monthly listeners. Do you earn significant income from streaming?
Not really. With what I make each quarter, I could pay one month’s rent."
I've said it before on here, but I highly recommend people support their favorite artists by buying their music and merch, seeing them on tour, etc. Streaming has terribly devalued music, and even incredible artists like Skee Mask couldn't live on just streaming payouts. Criminal.
On a positive note, the eventual idea of a live show has me over the moon. It sounds like he'd never come to the US, so will have to make the trek overseas to catch that if/when it happens.
