I had an amazing experience at Bonnaroo X, and what made me decide to go was the lineup. As soon as I saw it I booked the trip from British Columbia. I was really "pumped" to find out whom might be playing this year, and when I did, I was kinda disappointed honestly. When did Bonnaroo turn into a Pop/Indie Rock/Electronic festival? No offense to those who like those genres, but there's a REAL lack of Rock/Hard Rock/Metal/Blues/Jazz. I know the lineup hasn't been fully announced, there's still more to come, but at the same time, I almost prefer the FAKE lineup that was released on Sunday or whenever. Alice Cooper at Bonnaroo? I just don't know about that. I like Alice, but at 'Roo??? Seems like there's not much to offer to the older crowd.
Where's Neil Young, Primus, Gov't Mule, Bob Weir Acoustic Trio, Victor Wooten, etc??? Roger Waters has Saturday off and is in neighbouring states on the surrounding dates. Would that not be a perfect way to close What Stage Saturday night? There's some groups I'd like to see, but nobody that special to me, nobody that makes my breathing slow down and say, "Okay, I'm going." I like every other lineup from the past that Bonnaroo has had, but this year seems a little weak. Sorry, don't mean to offend anyone, but last year there was Buffalo Springfield, String Cheese, Primus, Bruce Hornsby (x2), WSP, Galactic, Robert Plant, Opeth, NOFX, Dr. John, Bela Fleck (x2), this list goes on! And on! So why such a focus on indie rock this year, hmmmm? Isn't a good business strategy to have original, experienced customers returning? ?? ??? ???? ????? .
Tough decision but I think I may go for a week long hiking trip instead this year. We'll see.

This is a pretty good lineup. Best and strongest headliners in years.
But I don't know if I can justify it. I've said all along I wasn't going this year unless I was blown away by the lineup.. and I'm not blown away.
There's some great stuff, but everything I would be excited to see is someone that I've already seen before in the past year or 2.
If some of my friends go they'll probably coax me into coming, it wouldn't bee to hard. But as I stand right now I'd rather spend the money on local concerts and probably use the vacation days to hit up bear creek and blackwater in the fall. And save up for coachella 2013

No offense taken, TopHat. Maybe you'll reconsider over the next several weeks.
I'm part of the "older crowd" as well, and this line-up didn't exactly make my head explode (beyond Radiohead and Bon Iver). But my son (soph @ NYU) drags me around to 10 or 12 bands each Roo that I ordinarily wouldn't walk across the street to see -- and they all end up dusting me.
Myself, I've always wondered why we can't get the Tragically Hip down here one of these years. (?)
But I'm all about The Antlers, Mogwai, and The Roots this June.
Wow I expected more excitement. I Mean I'm disapointed with a few holes in the lineup but there is way more than enough here to fill up a pretty epic weekend.

The HIP!!! I thought I was the only one! How are they not mainstays on the festival circuit?

You know, now that you mention it, TTH would be a great mainstage mid-day act at Bonnaroo! I've seen them 2 or 3 times in BC and they absolutely put on a great show. They've slowed down quite a bit since their last album, so I would definitely go see them the next time you get a chance, never know when they might call it quits or put out another Bob Rock produced LP.
His music is eh, ok (IMO) but i thought he was unbearable live.
have you guys seen him live or just watching youtube vids?
jw... happy roo lineup relsease day!!
Yelawolf came to my school last year. It was not pretty at all.
he came out on stage with a mullet mohawk and a kids backpack. and a leather racing jacket and just looked like a huge tool. and he was really...really... bad. and im one who claims on the regular that "i love music so much i'd see ANYONE live)
I know Insider said that RH was booked for Friday, but I have a hard time seeing that pan out. First reason being that I don't think Roo would put their headliner up the first (real) night, and second being that I think that she only said they were playing Friday night because they were tentatively getting another artist/group that would have outshined Radiohead and taken the Sat night headliner spot.
Obviously that fell through. I'm calling it now...Radiohead will play Saturday night.
I saw Alice Cooper in 1973 or 74 on the Billion Dollar Babies Tour with the Flourescent Leech and Eddie ( The Turtles). We had a great time. We were tripping. I don't want to see him again.

This year I took a break from my usual obsessing over the possible lineup...didn't check inforoo every day (but knew the rumors). I'm psyched about the acts I wanna see and I'm not even mad about the ones I don't like!! I love roo and I never miss it, it's never let me down and I can't wait til June. Fuuuuuuck Anthony Keidis and his sh!t band, but there isn't a band in the world that can ruin Bonnaroooooo!!!!!!

I've been completely away from inforoo all year because I didn't think I could do Bonnaroo this year. I found out a week ago i can. Now I'm excited and didn't have to drool over lineup rumors for months...just a week and it was nice.

Not sure what to think about the lineup yet. For me, it's a lot different than last year. The headliners are the must sees for me this year. I'm not entirely sold on the other acts (because I'm not that educated on them, but Im working on it). I'm familiar with Grouplove (problem is, I think Xaphoon Jones' "Colours" remix is their best song). I think there might be some electro acts added for the late night stuff. I'm seeing Major Lazer, Skrillex, and SBTRKT doing the Friday night tents after Radiohead. Last year you had Bassnectar, Girl Talk, Shpongletron, Beats Antique, Pretty Lights, and a number of others...I wouldnt be surprised to see another DJ....maybe Crystal Method? Maybe Daft Punk will play a late night? Haha...nvermind. All I know is that I'd better start liking it, because I paid already...haha

I still don't get how people get so amped for phish but hate wsp? Maybe it's just me but you take away trey and panic has far superior musicians & catalogue... Anywho scissor sisters were a fun surprise last year , I wonder who will take too by storm this go around. KEndrick Lamar will be this years j.cole .
I think the headliners are solid, stoked for that. I wish they would have brought back some bands that impacted my personal experiences, FLips, Girl Talk, etc. I know I will have a great time and can't wait to see who else gets added!
