I agree, solid additions this year, can't wait for Danzig. The only add I don't really understand is Black Box Revelation. They just seem like incredibly generic garage alterna-rock. I mean, haven't The Strokes, Arctic Monkeys, The White Stripes, Jay Reatard, The Black Lips, and The Black Keys already sort of fleshed out the whole genre?
Believe me, I'm content with the adds we have. But I was just curious if there was something I was missing with these guys?
It may mean nothing, but Of Montreal just announced a show here in Richmond,VA for Wednesday June 13th. The venue here usually gets a couple bands on the way to/way back from Bonnaroo so it is possible that they could be added.
I also noticed that the date is not on their website yet... maybe they are waiting for the Roo announcement to officially add the remainder of their tour dates?

They're from the south (i think) so I imagine the proximity to Bonnaroo is just a coincidence.

Not sure how this addition confuses you. A lot of people like the garage rock genre, present company included. You might not like it, which is fine, but again, not sure how it "confuses" you that they were added or that people like the genre???

It's not really the add that I don't understand, it's the band as a whole that's puzzling. How can a band that doesn't really contribute anything new to the genre gain an even decent size following (like Black Box has)? I'm a fan of garage as well, but not of watered down acts of an already saturated genre. Are they really spectacular live or something? Do they have some hook I'm not seeing?
P.S. Thank you for actually responding instead of just "disliking", I'm trying to be as non-hostile about this question as I can.

Well, I think they are good live, yes. Maybe they just aren't for you, but I like their music a lot and think they are a GREAT addition.

Agreed. They're from Georgia. The date in Nashville leads me to believe they won't be added. Would love for them to be added, but I don't foresee it happening.
no odd future or dfa1979 is a crime. i can't believe that bonnaroo still hasn't booked either.
meh...DFA would be cool, but lets not forget that their only album is 8 years old. As for Odd future.....their just part of the hype machine and will soon be forgotten.
This is the first message board I've ever been on, the only reason I joined is because I love Bonnaroo and wanted to read and talk about it all year long.

what's the point of odd future? haven't dr. dre, snoop, kanye, and 50 cent sorta fleshed out the whole genre?
50? really? he is terrible. but back to your point, that's a pretty dumb argument to make. what's the point to any modern rock band? didn't zeppelin, floyd, hendrix, and the who kinda already flesh out that genre? odd future is great stuff. sit down, don't take it seriously, listen closely and I'm sure you'll find that a lot of their stuff goes beyond what the ppl you named have done. 90% of rappers take themselves way too seriously. its nice to have a rap group satirizing all of that. well that and tyler's production is great.

I hope we get some relevant adds instead.....
how does the fact that their only album is 8 years old effect how awesome a bonnaroo show from them would be. i saw them last summer and they were fucking amazing. and odd future will last through the hype machine, just watch

I'm an Odd Future fanboy, so what i say will probably be bias, but they have the support of Kanye West, Drake, Pusha T, Lil Wayne, Pharrell, and many others. I don't see them going anywhere.
Frank Ocean is definitely hear to stay. I feel like Tyler is burning a little too hot too fast though ...
or am i joking?
you are confusing me now. frank ocean will be around for a while. tyler will probably end up with 2 more strong albums, disappear for a while, and come back stronger. remember how young they are, they still have so much time to hone their craft. i feel like a lot of people on this board just want to hate on odd future. it never comes down to a discussion about talent or anything, it's always about the hype. let's focus on the music.
nah hodgy will make it and domo has been stepping up his game big time
I just don't see it. Both of them have had bright spots but nothing past a few songs. IMO neither have put out an entire album that's anything that special. I know Frank Ocean is technically part of OF, I just didn't include him because he tours separately and such. I agree, that he may be here to stay as well. As for the rest of them I just don't see it.

blackened/white is so strong though. hodgy has a lot of great verses on there. and as far as domo goes, all of his verses on of tape vol 2 are great. did you hear the mellowhigh song 'go' yet, they're both really strong on there too.
