Who's bigger Vampire Weekend or FTP? I would think Vampire Weekend. The are top billed at Pitchfork. That would put them on the same level as Fleet Foxes. Are Fleet Foxes not a Which closer or Preheadliner at this point?
Seriously pal? They havent had an album in 3 years and they havent had a good album in four!!! Your argument is silly...whos bigger "in my opinion" vs. whos bigger "in your opinion". If you think that VW has that kind of credibility than I lump you into the crowd that will be front row for both the FTP and Skrillex show. Ugghhh High School mentality in full force!
Wow, what a rude post. You bored today or something?
Also, Contra is just as good as the debut. Flame away.

Seriously, it was just a question. Who is bigger? I don't know. They are top billed a pitchfork. They are billed pretty high at larger festivals they play. Their sophomore effort was better than MGMT's. I am looking for a comparable act to VW in popularity. I think FTP is pretty equivalant. Would it be that shocking if FTP closed the Which? No.
How is this a high school mentatility? You are a dope.
For the record, I don't like Shrillex and don't mind FTP.
And wow, you're like a walking, talking infomercial to turn people away from Pearl Jam and Ohio State, aren't you? Before you started posting here I quite liked Pearl Jam and was indifferent towards OSU, now I find myself wishing that Eddie Vedder falls down a mine shaft or that Columbus is infested with locusts

This is accurate. People were expecting alot out of both VW and MGMT's second albums. When they released just solid albums, people turned on both bands. Kinda silly.

in ten years no one's even gonna know who vampire weekend or foster the people are. except the people who slap their face for seeing them over someone relevant at a festival. anywhoo,
any speculation on florence + the machine being added? they should be. and they should be on a stage. also, roky erickson? (the father of psychedelic music). that is all.
It's been a while since Vampire Weekend has been around, so I forgot how polarizing of a band they are. I don't agree with you lumping them in with Foster the People (even though I don't dislike Foster the People in general).

You both realize that your comparisons are with two bands that are "one hit wonders"??!!
What exactly was Vampire Weekend's hit? They haven't had a radio hit like Foster the People. They appeal to a specific audience. I doubt that they ever break through to the masses like Foster the People did. They will probably continue to be billed high in the festival scene, but they're just not going to appeal to the general public. They're not the kind of band you're saying they are.

By your logic Nickleback should headline over MMJ.
What? Explain. I don't think I insinuated anything like that.

Maynar posted this on another board from the Bonnaroo main page
Radiohead 10595 81.7% RHCP 10102 78.0% Phish 5933 45.8% Beach Boys 7088 54.7% Bon Iver 8037 62.0% Avett Brothers 6385 49.3% The Shins 7600 58.7% Foster The People 7981 61.6% Skrillex 6419 49.5% Aziz Ansari 4889 37.7% Dispatch 4159 32.1% Feist 5381 41.5% The Roots 7018 54.2%
It still blows my mind that FTP are so popular (and frankly offends me) but I guess that's just the way the world works. I do think in 2010 Vampire Weekend would have had as much draw, but I doubt they could get the hype machine going again by June.

Sorry, sorry, I take it all back.
I think you might have misunderstood and thought I was implying that Foster the People should have a more prominent slot than Vampire Weekend at a festival. I don't think that at all. Within the context of a festival crowd, Vampire Weekend obviously warrants higher billing. I just meant that in a group of top 40 radio listening average joe's, Foster the People is much more popular.

I would say Vampire Weekend has a better chance to be remembered in 10 years than Florence + the Machine.
Esperanza Spalding (Has anyone heard anything on her?) OFWGKTA Cage The Elephant Neil Young Jack White/Beck
From what I've heard Neil Young won't happen. Beck is too big an act to be an add, in my opinion. Cage the Elephant has been mentioned earlier in this post but I don't remember if anyone put the kabosh on that one yet. Still keeping my fingers crossed for Jack White. No idea about the others so I won't try.

I was lying in a burned out basement With the full moon in my eyes. I was hoping for replacement When the sun burst thru the sky. There was a band playing in my head And I felt like getting high.
Please Please bonnaroo gods ....but could you imagine the pandemonium...any body think bonnaroo is too commercial for prince. I will pack a rasberry beret just in case
This is the first message board I've ever been on, the only reason I joined is because I love Bonnaroo and wanted to read and talk about it all year long.

Sorry for cross posting from the schedule by day page, but i feel i need to make amends for my participation in the last page:
Anyone else think it's strange the Secretly Canadian bands (Here We Go Magic and War on Ducks) have confirmed dates and Bon Iver (Jagjaguwar) doesn't? The two labels share and office and staff, so it seems unlikely that one label is disciplined and isn't giving up dates but the other is. It makes me think the Bon Iver date really isn't set yet. He announced a bunch of new summer dates today but not the Bonnaroo one (or any dates in the two weeks prior).
Bon Iver is a big artist to still have floating in the wind, it's likely cause they're still trying to get him a few other dates around Bonnaroo and AC is willing to be flexible, but it could also be because ........ AC is working on someone bigger?

Obviously, that addition will be Prince.
Well that goes without saying. Prince before RHCP just makes so much sense
