Snowcroft, The first year there was plenty of vegi food insdie of Centeroo but a little pricey. I found it much easier to just walk outside and grab a bite. In fact I hooked up with some of the very best vegi cali rolls and "kind" pasta right outside of Centeroo. Amie
HEY everybody! I was trying to decide how to fund my trip to bonaroo! Maybe ya'll can help. I was thinking of selling vegi-hummus wraps but they seem to be a little overdone. My other thought was selling greek food...hummus, pita, tabouli, and Spanakopita? Any thoughts on the greek thing? AMIE
All I have to say about your greek food idea is that I LOVE HUMMUS!!!!! If you do end up selling some of this stuff, I hope I can find you and eat it all up!!!! ;D
They've never busted non-official vendors from what I can tell, but this could be the year they start. Not to rain on anyone's parade, but I wouldn't count on paying for my trip that way.
BTW, I used to vend grilled veggie and cheese sandwiches on Dead tour (91-95), so I know where you're coming from. Just be careful.

From the official web page it sounds like they may not be quite as lienient this year with food vendors in the lot.
For what it's worth, last year we helped one of ours clock 25 or 30 cases of Magic Hat microbrew--enough to finance his ticket, minus a significant ice expenditure and whatever we drank in the process. It wasn't that hard, but it did take some time in the afternoons and he had to hustle back to the site before the encores of the evening shows to be in position.
I've since wondered if someone might not do well with other cold drinks. I know I've gone through lots of bottled water outside of Phish shows, for example, and I know I sure patronized a few people selling them on shakedown at last year's Roo! I'd have loved a gatorade too, but I may not be in the majority there.
Plus, if you're just hustling water etc. you're not much of a target for the powers that want to shut vendors down. Their priorities always seem to be "recreationals", booze, food, and knock-off merch. By the time they would get around to water vendors, they'd probably be thirsty enough to buy one themselves.
I also remember cigarettes sales were brisk last year.

I'm talking with a local company in Chattanooga about bringing BIG Mylar balloons and helium tanks. Would anyone be interested in purchasing something to mark their camp? I know I got really lost the first year. Face it, the folks with the big octopus never get lost!!!!
What types of balloons would you like to see? I'm trying to come up with a Bonnaroo specific balloon too. How much would you be willing to pay for an inflated mylar balloon? Should I also have big round balloons? Let me know if you think this is a good idea!! Thanks

;D I think the balloons are a great idea! I tried to bring one last year, had to have it inflated in a supermarket, and by the time we got to our campsite, it didn't even have enough air to stay up! And it was this really cool, huge power puff girls balloon too! Anyway, I think having crazy balloons to decorate your site is a great idea- I'd buy some! While you're at it, if you wanted to go all out, you could sell other stuff besides balloons for people to decorate with, like flags, those cloth windmill things, streamers, or decorative items people could hang from their canopies...
Are you talking about that HUGE purple octopus that was in one of the far sections of the campgrounds along the edge? Man that thing was a life saver for my friends and me. We never would have met up with our friends had they not put that thing up. What a killer baloon that thing was too.
Which local company are you talking about? I have a friend down there. The balloon idea is awesome, but right now I'm not sure what type of design I would be interested in
"We could learn a lot from crayons: some are sharp, some are pretty, some are dull, some have weird names, and all are different colors....but they all exist very nicely in the same box."
Hey all! I was thinking about making some oak sifting (keif) boxes. They normally sell for around $65- $120, but I was going to aim for more of a $35 price range. I am planning on making them out of oak (hardwood is less likely to scratch), and treating them with some gentle linseed oil. I was also considering some artsy touches to make them special Would anyone be interested in this type of product, or think it is a good idea? I guess I would mostly be interested in trading for other great stuff. Just wanted some input before I get to work.... thanks!!!! peace and much love!
1) if you bring greek food with hummus, just be careful because hummus can go bad faster than you may think (especially in the heat.) While I love the stuff like no other, I have definitely had food poisoning because of it.. and it was not fun I am sure you know this, but just a heads up!!
and
2) I camped very near the purple octopus balloon last year... were any of you in rat tail????? how exciting!!!

Oh, I was just talking with my boyfriend, wondering if there would be body painters around. This will be my first roo, so I am happy to hear that it is a possibility. I've always wanted to do the full body painting, but a top half body painting would satisfy my desire, for now.

My boyfriend and I would be VERY interesting in buying a couple mylar ballons. I am not sure what I would be willing to pay considering that I've never bought one before and not knowing how large they are, but I am sure that I will not have a problem with the price if you make your price decision based on what is fair for me but still profitable for you.
We would love it if you had some heart mylar ballons.

so what other kinds of cool goods will anyone here be vending at Roo? I'd love to come home with some beautiful spinny skirts and dresses. I also have some stuff I want to trade. Do vendors at fests make trades? Like I have this lovely apron top i bought that's too big for me- would I be able to trade with someone for another piece of clothing or handcrafted goodies?
They are only allowing 8943 people to vend glassware.
Dude I was a little worried because I heard from someone who used to work for Superfly that it was more in the 7,500 range. But hey I trust your source
Vending is never and will never be a problem so vend away folks!
