AND - Etsy shop up. Only the DudeTus "listed" but Im ready to take anyone's request. I also did the math, and to make one DudeTu, all materials came to about $8 and change. Normally, adult sized tutus go for about $25 well into the hundreds on Etsy. So, I rounded to $10, and shipping is about $3 for one of these puppies to ship in a small padded envelope. For anyone who doesn't want to make their own RooTu, I'll be happy to supply you with one!

You can buy tulle at Hobby Lobby, or at Joann's fabric store already in rolls. So if you dont want to tackle purchasing cut-by-the-yard fabric at the cutting desk at the store, you can get the rolls. I recall that the last time I made an adult tutu with rolls it was about 2-3 rolls for one tutu?
Also, obviously little girls headbands are not going to work for a grown up waistband. Get the 3/4'' non-roll elastic from the fabric store too. Knitted elastic is cheaper, but once you start tying on tulle, it will roll over and it can be uncomfortable on your belly.
If you dont have a sewing machine to sew the elastic together at the ends, then buy a needle and thread, and stitch it together by hand. It doesnt have to be pretty, you can cover where you sewed with tulle.

i used a couple...it was super easy just took a little longer than i thought....
......used several yards of tool (the orange yellow and green really get it to stand out...its the tulle with very small holes and it doesnt stretch! important dont use stretch kind, my blue and pink have sparkles but they stretch and it was very annoying!)......cut into 5 inch strips about 21,22 inches long......some 1 and 1/4 wide stretch elastic....and i loop tied the pieces on to the elastic.......and pushed it all together to get as many peices on as i could
one thing i learned was to have the loop at the bottom of the elastic for one piece and the next piece let the loop be at the top...this makes it really full
side note....i think i am going to cut it so the pieces are shorter to give it more of a punk rock look

I could TOTALLY go for one that's longer in the back, but it would be a ONE-WEAR ONLY item. A late-nite dance-off/pants-off set would ruin it! And if the show didn't, the wooks following you around would. They'd be trippin' up on the length & next thing you know, you'll be all cheeky & flashing some thigh and... oh wait! That could be a selling point!

and also - I wish I had $500 to donate to the dude on the TutuProject. I think that what started as something oddball and quirky has become really heartfelt. I'd love a copy of that book.
