After checking out Jakicker's Bonnaroo vs Coachella Bracket. It got me thinking that we should have a bracket for the all time greatest musician in modern music. I assembled a list of 64 acts bracketed just like the college tournament spanning from country, rock, blues, r&b,soul, jazz, hip-hop,rockabily, punk, metal, experimental/indie rock, doo-wop,electronic,folk, americana reggae, and pop to see who would win best musician(s).
The Parameters: I decided to list only Musical acts in the Modern Era. Starting from the 50's all the way to Present time. Example of acts that predate the time period (Duke Ellington, Hank Williams, Robert Johnson, Beethoven, and Mozart). In judging the field, I ranked acts based on their impact in American music. Obviously, there will be English bands on here. But if their impact/recognition is more felt in Europe than in the States, it will affect seeding and entry in the bracket. In organizing the brackets, I treated genres like Conferences in the basketball tournament. For example, I have Daft Punk representing electronic. Even though they might be less impactful for an act that didn't make the bracket (ie James Taylor, Boston), Daft Punk is considered the best in their genre, so they beat out those guys.
The factors I considered when choosing teams for the bracket a.Songwriting/technical ability (looked favorably on acts that fused multiple genres) b.Impact/influence c.Recognition(awards/sales) d.Body of Work. Deeper catalogs are preferred (a few exceptions such as Hendrix, Joplin, and Nirvana)
Rules: Same as jakicker. One vote per acccount. Minimum of 10 posts. Try to vote for each act, but if there is a matchup you don't like or have no preference. You may leave no choice. The opening round of the first two regions will start today with voting ending Friday at 6PM Central/7PM Eastern. Without further ado, let's begin!

John: We don't even understand our own music Spider: It doesn't, does it matter whether we understand it? At least it'll give us . . . strength John: I know but maybe we could get into it more if we understood it
