Im being a little biased with the panthers prediction but I do think they have a legitimate shot at getting a wild card. They have a great offense. Defense was awful last year but we are getting back our best defensive player in Jon Beason (who I think is a top 5 linebacker in the league. We will draft a DT in the first round as well. Brandon hogan CB who we drafted last year in the 4th round will be able to this year as well. Hogan was a 2nd round talent that dropped bc of an injury an off the field issues.

I agree, with some improvements in the D the panthers could definitely make the playoffs. However, i will be the first to point out that i think Packer vs. Ravens has been the favorite for the superbowl the last 3 years? And only once did either of the teams make the super bowl and win.
Feel bad leaving the Lions out, but I think the North will be a bloodbath this year, and Lions are always one Stafford injury away from a losing season. And f*ck the 49er's

Already pumped for the upcoming season. Ravens have a really tough schedule, but thems the breaks. Just 2 home games total in October and November, plus have the games against the Steelers only separated by a week. As long as someone steps up in Grubbs absence, we will be fine.

Not that it's much of a shocker, but there was a story posted on msnbc today stating that they got the inside information that the Colts will take Andrew Luck with the first pick and RGIII will go to Washington with the second pick.
At least you get a draft pick! My team went from feel good story two years ago to most hated team in the league. I absolutely do not think we deserve that reputation, we just have two very bad apples in our coaching/management staff that need to be dealt with. I mean, come on, our defense has always been average AT BEST. None of these things Williams said or Loomis did had to do with our offense which is consistently what wins us games. I do not condone their actions. I think Loomis has to go, and I'm glad Williams is long gone. I think Vilma needs a big suspension, too. I'm going to seriously miss Coach Payton, though.
I appreciate people still predicting for us to make the playoffs. I feel like when its all said and done, if you ignore all the coaching suspensions and just look at free agency, we lost some important pieces and have mostly replaced them. We lost Nicks, but picked up Grubbs. We will probably be without Vilma, but we picked up three decent to very good linebackers. We lost Meachem, but he a WR3 anyway. We have so many other options, I think one of our younger guys will step up. Brees just needs to get paid so we can move on!
I feel like losing Payton is going to be our biggest hurdle, obviously, but I trust Vitt to get the job done. We have a pretty rough schedule this year that I am very excited to see play out. I already have tickets for the 49ers game in the Dome. Its going to get wild.
With all this being said, though, I'm still very depressed with us losing our reputation so severely. Its painful. But we have come through worse before, we can do it again. Its damn near impossible, but I want to see us play for the Super Bowl at home this year. Who Dat

Yeah, it's hard for me to pick anyone else in the South. I'm not convinced the Panthers are quite there yet, give them one more year. The Bucs will take a little while to turn things around with a new coach, new team indentity, lots of new players, etc, so I think they're about a year away as well. The Falcons haven't done much this offseason except lose key players like Lofton (to the Saints) and Weems. They did just add Asante Samuel which will help their secondary. But Tony Gonzalez and Michael Turner aren't getting any younger, and I see at least one of them finally regressing this year.
So even with the distractions, the Saints offense is so good, it still makes sense to me to put them winning the division.

It will be interesting to see how good the Saints offense does without Payton on the sidelines. I know Brees will audible well and run the offense well because he's shown he can do that. But game strategy might suffer without Payton. He is an offense-minded head coach.

Definitely. And I think the play-calling may suffer, but at this point, he's been around for long enough that I think the offense is pretty well-engrained, and Brees has it mastered well enough to to keep things rolling. I mean, it's pretty much: Cover the field in receivers and throw it to one. Colston, Graham, Sproles, etc etc.
AFC 1. New England 2. Houston Pittsburgh Denver WC. Baltimore WC. NY Jets
NFC 1. Green Bay 2. San Francisco New Orleans Philadelphia WC. Chicago WC. Dallas
NFC wildcard is tough to pick.
A lot of people forget that Chicago was a good team up until they were ravaged with injuries. I think they'll be in the playoffs this season. Too many people are overlooking them.
I think the Saints are going to struggle this year. After looking at their schedule I think they will go 8-8. The player suspensions are going to hurt them.
^Only "liked" this cause I agreed with the point. Boo Chicago.
Well, the Packers shouldn't have to worry about losing to them. Finley tends to own them whenever y'all play them.
The Packers always need to worry about the Bears. It's the biggest rivalry in football, and both teams always come to play. Everyone is expecting the Packers to come out of the gate again this year, like they did last year. That's not going to happen. They'll lose to the Bears in week 2. Also, the Packers winning the North is no lock.

I think Steelers/Ravens is a bigger rivalry right now, but that's nitpicking.
Also, I agree that the Saints' player suspensions will hurt, but we still don't know what those suspensions will be, so for now I am not taking them into account. Once they come down, we may have a better feel for things.
