That wasn't a swipe at the pats, just more of a note of how top heavy of a division it is. If I had wanted to diss the pats I would've called it the Big East.
NFC East and AFC West both rival it. One good team and 3 teams ranging from "horrendous" to "below average."
Let's take a look at history.
The NFC East teams have combined to be the most successful division in the NFL since the 1970 NFL merger with 20 NFC Championship wins and 12 Super Bowl victories, the highest marks of any division in the NFL
In 6 of the last 10 seasons, the NFC East had at least 2 teams with 10 wins or more. Each team has made the playoffs at least 2 times in that span. In 2006, the NFC East had 3 teams in the playoffs! (Not sure how many divisions can boast even one of those facts).
The NFC East is one of, if not the, toughest divisions in the NFL. Only the NFC North rivals it.
First, what does football played a decade ago have to do with football being played today?
The AFC East has had two teams with 10 wins 5 of the past 10 years.
The AFC East had 3 playoff teams in 1998, fwiw (Jets/Miami/Billdos).
Again, this year the AFC and NFC East are both top-heavy. To say the NFC East is not one of the 3 worst divisions in the league is just denying the obvious.
And Flanz, congrats on the new era. Here's to McElroy being the next Chad Pennington.
The Jets' last 4 opponents have a combined 15-31 record. With only a mere scintilla of a shot at the playoffs, the Jets will finish 8-8 or 9-7 with nothing to show for it except another sh!tty first round draft pick.
I don't consider a mid-round first round pick to be sh*tty, though. This draft is loaded with pass rushers, and that's where the Jets are going most likely (they've already leaked reports about not liking this QB class and if they take another USC QB in Barkley the fans will literally riot in Radio City).
With that steelers win (LOL RAVENS), the New York Jets have been mathematically eliminated from playoff contention
Ravens lost to an ancient third string QB. Serious LOL indeed.
There are only 2 teams in the league who don't have bad losses this year (Houston and Atlanta). And those who watch football, know that all rules are off the table in rivalry games.
To say the NFC East is not one of the 3 worst divisions in the league is just denying the obvious.
Flanz, the point is that just because the NFC East is having a down year doesn't mean you should trash it. It's the most successful and competitive division in the history of the NFL. Have some respect. Even if you don't have much for yourself by continuing to be a Jets fan!
I'm sorry, but what? How is comparing a division with 20 wins coming into this week with a division that has 21 wins trashing it?
For the record, the AFC East came in with more wins, and with 3/4 teams winning it's guaranteed to stay ahead of the NFC East in combined wins.

The NFC East has a very good team, two maybe average teams, and a terrible one. The AFC East has a very good team, and three below average teams. What's the difference?

And calling the Cowboys and Redskins "average" might even be pushing it.
The NFC East's very good team owns the AFC East's very good team in the Super Bowl.
This statement is dumber than "Brady owns peyton" circa 2004 or so when peyton had never beaten him.
How so? The Giants have beaten the Pats in each of the Super Bowls they have played against each other. That is a team accomplishment. It's not like comparing two different players who are playing with different weapons and different defenses backing them up.

This has nothing to do with player vs team. Winning two nailbiters is not ownership.

But if the Pats had beaten the Giants those two times I think the perception would be different.
