Considered that. How long would that take me to go through?
How is Sunset Cliffs? Need more beach in my life.
To go through the whole thing would definitely take you all day, but you could cover about half of it in 3-4 hours. That works out though, because about half of it is new and offers superior animal viewing. The zoo is also very close to the airport.
Sunset Cliffs is beautiful, but no real sandy beach area to speak of. It's more a place you go to sit on the cliffs and zone out at the view, and watch wook types dive off the cliffs. It's pretty close to the airport also, so that is nice.
Ocean Beach is just north of Sunset Cliffs (you can actually see the pier in the picture above), it's the hippie area of San Diego. EAP liked it a lot when she visited
If you want a touristish/theme park/beach experience, there is the boardwalk that spans between Mission Beach (Belmont Park) and Pacific Beach (Crystal Pier) that makes for a nice walk.
If you want to experience both animals and beach at the same time, and have a more secluded beach experience, there is La Jolla Cove (there are seals and sea lions here!).
If you want a more scenic nature-y experience there is Torrey Pines state park. You can go for some pretty and short hikes in the park above the beach, or park down below and enjoy the sand and solitude.
Blacks Beach is arguably the most beautiful beach in San Diego, but it's hard to find and there are people who look like your high school principal walking around naked. For real, fully naked. It's just south of Torrey Pines and there is a glider port on the cliffs above it, so if you like watching people fly above your head (and don't mind naked people) it might be for you. Oh and there are no bathrooms.

Wow, thank you so much for the info! I'll look further into these and figure out which works best for me.
The zoo looks amazing. Pandas, Polar Bears, and Komodo Dragons?! Must see them all.
It all depends on how I feel after the weekend. Sitting and staring at water sounds exactly like the kind of down time I'll need by that point. If I miss the zoo this time I'll catch it on my next visit.

MotorAve over on the Coachella boards is by far the best troll I have ever witnessed. He's driving everyone insane. His "Daft Punk could not headline Chella 2013" is truly a thing of beauty.

Is Littlebirdy still dropping in? I stopped posting over there a while ago. Nothing constructive comes out of it.
Alright I'm back, I have a few questions. First of all, tickets, I know they sell out fast. How fast though? Will I be able to get tickets without having to buy from the after market? I am up for weekend 1 or weekend 2. Second, is the camping limited? I have one other person that is on board to go with me this year and this will be probably the only year I can go for awhile, so I would really like to get to go. Any info on tickets/tips would be awesome. Thank you

Tickets will likely sell out within 2 hours. You'll have to have your funds secured before hand because they absolutely must be purchased at on sale. Otherwise you'll be paying much more for not buying directly from Goldenvoice. Also, you'll need to create a Front Row Tickets/GV account before hand. Camping IS limited so you'll have to factor it into your budget as well when buying your festival passes.
Basically, create an account and have your money ready (do this and you should be fine).
Also, if you're considering both weekends, #2 will be the last to sell out. I went weekend 2 last year and it was kind of a bummer because I knew EVERYTHING that was going to happen before hand. Although the Black Keys did surprise us with John Fogerty for a Levon Helm tribute. It was still all too predictable since I had watched the webcast the weekend before (something to consider). If this doesn't bother you then I'd say go #2 since it'll be easier to secure tix

Kinda a dumb follow-on question, but when you say "sell out in 2 hours" do you mean, "be there right at on sale and you'll be fine" or "be there right at on sale, you might get them or you might get stuck in a waiting room for two hours before they tell you it's sold out?"

From my experience, it's never taken longer than 30-45 minutes. Be signed on when tickets go on sale and you will land tickets. The only problem I could see happening is weekend 1 sells out before you finish your purchase and you have to start over and try to get weekend 2. It's never sold out on me though.

I saw this on the Coach board and literally did a double take. This needs to happen. Mojave closer during a sh*tty headliner.
holy quack, EXPENSIVE:
And that's for 1 ticket! at Mexico City show. Other show is even more expensive. $444 for a single nose bleed ticket in a huge arena in Mexico City, Mexico? $510 for a single nose bleed ticket in a huge arena in Monterrey, Mexico.? I believe if he is added, he'll be a headliner. gotdamn.

I think this is a little optimistic (you have been lucky, JJ). People were definitely shut out of buying tickets last year when they logged on precisely at the start of the onsale. And there were cases of the website saying it was SOLD OUT and then people were able to refresh/log in after that and buy tickets with no problem. So you definitely need to be diligent and fast with the fingers.

Serious question. Are any of ya'll in school and if so how do you handle missing it while at Coachella? For me, Coachella is usually smack dab in the middle of midterms/papers/projects, etc. I'm really thinking about going this year but it would mean taking off at least three days of school and potentially having to reschedule exams and negotiating extensions on assignments.
Just wondering how anyone in a similar situation has handled this.

Im pretty sure Weekend 1 sold out in 5-10min (or less) and Weekend 2 sold out in about 20-30min (or less).

"According to Coachella's website, "In an effort to try and accommodate everyone who wants to experience the festival, COACHELLA 2012 will be two separate events, held over two consecutive weekends. Same lineup...same art...same place...different people." And yet, Weekend 1 sold out Friday within one hour and Weekend 2 was not far behind."
Maybe I have been lucky but I've been going since 2008 and as far as buying tix at onsale goes, I'm batting 1.000. Of course I signed in on 2 computers, 2 iphones, and an ipad last year. Definitely don't be casual about it by any means but it's not impossible. Stay calm, relax, the tickets will come to you (but you better make sure you're doing everything technologically possible to get to them first).

When I lived in Mexico they often used the $ sign even if it was pesos, so I may be wrong but this could very well be $35 (US) for a nosebleed seat and about $120 (US) for the VIP tix.
