I happen to think the newest Yeasayer album is criminally underrated, and their first album is my least favorite. I have a feeling I'll like the show - if the older tunes sound anything like the way they were performed on their live album, I'll be happy.
I liked Fragrant World too, but I was in love with Odd Blood (and those are the tunes that were "remixed").

How do they remix the Odd Blood songs? I love that album too. Big fan of the new one, but Odd Blood has that perfect marriage of being funky, different, and catchy. I haven't gone back to Fragrant World as much because its a little "darker," for lack of a better word.

I haven't been in a few years but it will be great to be back on the polo field. They used to not have in and out for anyone but campers but I think that has changed. If not, camelbacks are a great OK now. It will take forever to fill em up at those darn stations though.... cr****

They do allow in and outs. The water pressure at the water stations is pretty good so I don't think camelbaks will cause a problem. Especially since people will only need to fill up one thing, instead of fumbling around with multiple smaller water bottles.
This is great news!!!
Also, I would caution anyone on buying the bottled water there, if possible. I got very sick after my first Coachella, and I think part of the reason may have been their bottled water practices. They keep the bottles in large ice filled tubs, from which every single customer then fishes out their bottles...so before long, the bottled waters are floating around in an icy dirt and cootie soup.
So if you buy bottled water onsite, at least dry the bottle off before opening it.
Last year I brought in a nalgene and used the water filling stations and didn't get sick.

Last year after getting hassled at security for my camelbak, the event staff supervisor was nearby and stepped in. They insisted I leave it at the gate with a big pile of others that were confiscated. They said I could retrieve it later.
That was absurd. Those bladders are expensive, I was not about to just throw it in a pile, even with my name on it. I went and spoke with the police officers that were standing nearby about the policy. They were nice and understood, and AGREED with me that it was a ridiculous policy. I begged for them to allow me to take it back to my campsite.
With a "cmon guys" sort of nod from the police offers, the supervisor allowed me to leave the area and return to my camp. Before that, I went to the main customer service station to speak with actual Coachella people.
I told them that I respected that they had rules to follow, and I respected that they were obligated to enforce certain policies and procedures. I further said that I would like to respectfully and humbly submit an official complaint against this policy, because it really puts those in harms way and makes them risk hydration. We had a laugh about it.
I am glad to be one of the many that spoke up respectfully and without malice, this policy change is definitely a "Win!" from all angles. So thank you to everyone else that said something, or wrote an e-mail, or tweeted, etc.
By the way, I never actually returned the bladder to my campsite. Just got in a different line and went back in.
I love Yeasayer but I really wouldn't waste my time on this current show. Especially if it's conflicting with something you REALLY want to see. They "reworked" some of the older/better tunes and they just don't do them justice. It's really disappointing. Just play the damn thing as it was written, please.
Eh, I disagree with this sentiment. I saw them in Austin when they came through last September and absolutely loved their show, including the little changes they added. Their stage setup was pretty sweet as well. Obviously it depends who they're playing against when you make the decision to check out their set or not, but I wouldn't just write them off.

They only played two songs from the first album, 2080 and Summer. They also played Tight Rope (off the Dark was the Night AIDS benefit album), which was a great surprise for myself. I was able to grab the set list from the show, so hopefully it gives you an idea of what they've been playing recently.
I've seen Yeasayer 3 times so far and I've still yet to hear Red Cave, probably my favorite song from them. Fingers crossed for next time!
Edit: Reagan's Skeleton was awesome live, definitely one of the highlights of the show.
yes you can get food, there are a few sites out in the campgrounds kind of like bonnaroo has. there are parties and stuff going on at the campsites, but nothing official.
My top 10 for each day. I purposefully did not include Roo/Coach crossovers (except Tame Impala). Youth Lagoon would definitely be in my Friday top 10 if I hadn't bought a ticket to his Nashville show today.
Friday 1. How to Destroy Angels 2. Yeah Yeah Yeahs 3. TNGHT 4. Blur 5. Jamie xx 6. Tegan and Sara 7. Stars 8. Modest Mouse 9. The Shouting Matches 10. The Stone Roses
Saturday 1. Sigur Ros 2. Hot Chip 3. The Postal Service 4. Violent Femmes 5. Franz Ferdinand 6. Richie Hawtin 7. New Order 8. Simian Mobile Disco 9. Baauer 10. The 2 Bears
Sunday 1. Tame Impala 2. La Roux 3. Eric Prydz 4. Jessie Ware 5. Tanlines 6. Disclosure 7. Dead Can Dance 8. Vampire Weekend 9. Grimes 10. Rodriguez
There is also a silent disco in the campgrounds that i thought i read will be open on thur night.
Yep, it does. I wonder if this is less crowded than Roo's because it's in the campgrounds and not in the venue area. Do a lot of non-campers venture into the campgrounds at Coachella?
It's weird - when plotting out my travel for this thing I was in Bonnaroo mode, thinking I needed to get there early as hell on Thursday in order to wait in traffic, get inside, get my camp set up, and start watching shows. Then I realized there are no shows on Thursday, and there are way less campers than Bonnaroo (so the wait to get in won't be as long...right?) so I don't have to get there at any particular hour. Makes things a lot easier.
you can stillg et stuck in BFE if you show up late thursday. just fyi.

every coachella attendee walks through the campground to exit the festival.
