I get the 20x30 plain black frames from Michaels - they're normally $40, but every other week they're "on sale" for %50 off, and then if you nab one of the "extra 25% off frames" coupon in the trash mail circulars, you can get them for around $16 with the tax etc. Im only a couple shows behind in getting them up on the wall, but all of my roo posters, a signed new pornographers, my chicago AF/National show poster, and my sasquatch '11 poster are up.

I get a lot of frames from Amazon.com. Usually some are like 78% off or some ridiculous number. Haven't been disappointed yet. I would like some nicer, sturdier frames at some point but money is an issue.
That sounds awful. Even the 2 hours at Bonnaroo last year seemed way too short; I hope you guys get that at least.
People on the MMJ boards think we'll get at least that. It says Doors open at 5 and show begins at 6:30. If they start right on time Shabazz can play until 7:15 or 7:30 and then MMJ can come on right after or at 8.
Hmmm...I might wait for the upstate shows to happen, I have been spoiled by long MMJ shows that I think a limit is a buzz kill.
So it seems like MMJ and Jim isn't going to be slowing down anytime soon.
"James has just put the finishing touches on his first solo album, still untitled and tentatively due in February."
"After he tours in support of his solo album next year, James and the rest of My Morning Jacket will begin recording the group's next record, probably in April or May, he said."
On top of that the Yim Yames thing seems to be going away before this album, both his twitter and website have become Jim James. It was rumored that the Yim Yames thing was because some soul artist from the 70s owned that name. I'm guessing he was able to buy it back.
There is nothing on the website new other than this awesome picture.

This news makes me so happy. I had one or two people on the MMJ boards saying they believed that Circuital would be the final MMJ record and they'd be calling it quits after that and I refused to believe it.
Ya I have no idea where those kind of rumors come from. Every indication I have gotten is that no matter other how many other projects Jim has going MMJ has always been his favorite. Maybe someday there will be another lineup change but MMJ will remain for a long, long time.
It is possible that they will take some time off at some point, and really who could blame them. If they really do record in the Spring and then tour to promote that album they will of been in the studio and on the road for basically 3-4 years straight.
Ya I have no idea where those kind of rumors come from.
Haha, I just found the PMs from 2010 when I was talking to someone on here who was in contact with a person on the MMJ board. It's two years ago and I won't reveal any names but apparently this is why so many were thinking it was the end. Here's a response the person gave to someone on here about MMJ being "done":
"I know, I hope you’re right.I’ve just been hearing things for a while and then those T-5 shows…they basically have done it all……what they did in NYC will never be done again…they brought back all their old band members, it was basically a big going out party…
My friend ***** basically is good friends with Jim, they all went to college together and ***** used to date Jim’s sister. Not only him, but others down there know that it’s not looking good. I haven’t told too many of my MMJ friends so most of the people posting on there don’t know any of it…there was another thread that was deleted by the mod where one of the insiders said something like the band is done.
I really really hope I’m wrong. Everyone on the MMJ forum is already like bonnaroooooooooo 2011!.....so I’m planning to go if they play…..we even talked about getting those furnished trailers LOL….those are nice but $$!
So it's word of mouth rumors basically.
It is possible that they will take some time off at some point, and really who could blame them.
I agree. I've been hoping that they'd release the T5 box set they've talked about during a period of down time. Like, they'll be off the road for a few months but still gaining some income from the box set. I just really want that box set.
If Jim comes out and does a solo song or they play Dondante shut the quack up. Jacket fans have been known to attack loud drunks in the past.
Oh come on, do you really think I need to be told to not be a loud, obnoxious *sshole? These guys are one of my favorite bands ever.
I will be loud during Shabazz and in between songs, and sit in awestruck silence during each MMJ song, only opening my mouth to occasionally fill it with booze or happy lettuce vapor.

^ AMEN TO THIS! (esp. during Dondante!)
It annoys the hell outta me when I see a video of a show & hear people TALKING during that song! Some other songs, sure...I can *almost* tolerate a low murmur. But that song deserves reverence! My attacks are more of the "menacing GRRR" or "icy GFY" variety (no comments from those who've received such!) than actual fisticuffs, but yeah, rabid Jacket fans mean business.
Just convinced a bunch of friends to go to this with me after day drinking all day. If you're at the show come find me, I'll be the loud dude.
Look for me. I plan on pulling a "bacon" and getting as close to the rail as possible. I think I will have early entry since I'm a roll call member as well. I need to look into this more though.
Also, STFU for Dondante. I harvest organs when people talk loudly during songs.

And by "harvest organs" I mean I look at you with angry eyes and think "what an smurf, why aren't you watching the show you paid for?"
If I was rolling solo, or with just one friend, I'd be right there with you. But I'll be with a big group and I loathe the 20-person groups who try to conga-line their way up to the rail in the moments leading up to a show, so I figure we'll just find a nice location and set up there.

I almost had to kick some nards during Dondante at red rocks. 50% of whoever the people that were allowed to come in and sit in front of us (disabled? VIP?) were the worst! Their drunks asses were coming and going all night, they couldn't care less about the music, they were there to party.
I literally put my hand on two of the dude's shoulders to get their attention and told them to keep it down for this song. They didn't. I didn't want to further disrupt the song for anyone else around me, so I listened to the song with my head turned and my finger jammed in my left ear. Assholes.
And as some of you may remember, I pulled on a drunk chick's hair at Radiohead back in the day when all attempts to rationalize with her failed. It worked, and I'd be lying if I said I wasn't proud of my efforts. The rest of the concert was lovely.
Quiet songs = STFU or go to the back where nobody else gives a shit about what's going on onstage
Probably preaching to the choir here, but it irks me to my core.
Hahaha I love that railing for MMJ is now "pulling a Bacon". I don't know the exact details for the show but I do know there is early entry available. Watch your email and the @mmjrollcall twitter for details. I do know they are a few forumers going to the show put most reports have been early entry is 25-50 people max and getting rail is easy enough (for every show other than Red Rocks).

Yea, main reason I'm going for it is because my last few MMJ shows have been from further back and I'll be heading to this one alone so why not?
At Forecastle I had a couple jabbering the entire time during Rocket Man and I finally asked them to shut up and wait until the song was over. The woman said she was Tom's older sister and was trying to get up to the stage to say hello. It was pretty obvious she doesn't go to a lot of MMJ shows, especially when in the pit. But we got to understanding one another as the show went on, but I was close to kicking her and her husband at one point.
ITM - Have you been to this venue before? Is it the same as the "Williamsburg Waterfront"? I've heard both names used before. The place I'm thinking of has a fence dividing alcohol from alcohol-free areas?
BTW my advice for railing is go left of center, as close to half way between Tom's amp and Carl's mic as possible. That's where I prefer to be most of the time. You avoid the people that try to seduce Jim mid-show, get great sound with extra bass, every Carl solo is basically right in your face, and you will get a Wordless Chorus chorus directly in front of you too. Perfect spot
The thing I hate more than people talking is someone pushing in front of me and then proceeding to not pay attention to the show at all. Happened at Forecastle and SUCKED.
Also sucked when the guy next to me got so excited that he jumped on his friend and almost knocked me and my 6'4" brother-in-law over. It's great to be excited, but don't let your excitement ruin someone else's show

Haven't been here yet but I am under the impression it's the same (or at least same general area) or the Waterfront. I will be looking more into the venue tonight and tomorrow but the browsing on MMJ's boards I did made me think it was the same.

See we did that at Merriweather in '10 and were SURROUNDED by Jersey Shores. DCBee wiggled closer, but we were stuck thanks to lots of spray tan, hair gel and popped collars. Last year we went to the right near Jim and were in our tribe of real fans, respectful, and had a fabulous spot super close. It seems to really vary, but I agree that is a great place usually to be!
