So as far as the medical tents at Bonnaroo, have you ever been turned away or witnessed someone turned away becuase the medical person assumed they were simply 'just to drunk'? I witnessed something disgusting at Firefly, and when i shared it to the Fan page, a lot of people were saying simular things. Just reminded me again how wonderful Bonnaroo is,
Here's the story i posted ... "Thursday or Friday, we witness a girl who was so drunk(?) she was limp as her poor poor boyfriend was trying to get her to stand up to walk. It was pretty bad. He somehow got her up and was basically carrying her on his side but it looked like walking. As we were walking their way they made it to the medical tent and he was trying to get her help. The woman from Bayhealth Medical Center in scrubs TURNED THEM AWAY at the door because she said, 'Oh she's just drunk' and brushed it off like it was nothing. The girl could have been severely dehydrated or had alcohol poisoning or something else even, and for them to get turned away so quickly? Isnt it their obligation to at least take vitals and provide some shade for a few minutes? I mean maybe even a ride to camp, or at least to the exit. Water maybe?"
A friend of mine said he blacked out during Alabama Shakes and nobody in the crowd helped him. Most of the time at any show or fest I've been to everyone is very helpful, but sometimes this bullshit happens. I'll paste his messages to me about what happened, changing the order to make more sense and not including my replies.
I also blacked out during the shakes
im going to say it was dehydration
Left side of What Stage
and I had told a girl right before I dropped that I was about to pass out and to get help
luckily before I passed out, I had my camelbak hose in my mouth and landed on my bookbag when I dropped so all the water rushed to my mouth with no effort.
Yeah, I was very lucky to have fallen like that
I just laid out until I was able to recover and get up myself
I wonder how many people those tents treat a day. We were camped next to the med tent where the medevac choppers were and we saw them go out multiple times a day. And does the 'safe haven' concept go out the door the minute you are airlifted to a hospital?
Mikearoo earlier today I saw your post on the Firefly FB and it was about an hour after I emailed the head's of the Bunk Police and DanceSafe. I was going to message you about it.
The reason being is partly because BP got shut down early on in the festival and were unable to continue their work. I'm sure you've heard the story from their issue at Bonnaroo. So it got me to remembering when I tried to get DanceSafe affiliated with Bonnaroo. I had a really good dialogue started between the thee of us for a while and then it kind of fizzled. This was three years ago. And I didn't pursue it much longer after that because in the few years following problems like emptying canal backs and such were backed off on. But this year I noticed that even with it being a moderately hot year the people at the centeroo check in were only allowing unsealed water bottles.
And then there was the whole issue with the BP. You know that I'm huge on harm reduction. So I want to see if I can get my old contacts and the current BP and DanceSafe people in a discussion about future official affiliation.
So...I'll reiterate....if anyone at Bonnaroo has had issues(that didn't involve breaking the actual laws or the festival laws) then let them be known. I'm trying to gather first hand information so as to further a dialogue that might help people in the future.
This is important more now than it was in the past because festivals in general, not just Binnaroo, are more popular than ever and people are attending these events for the first time at rapid pace. And if the Inforoo FB has taught me anything aside from the fact that I have astounding wit, it has taught me that first timers aren't doing enough research.

Be safe first. Then have fun.
Are there not RAVE act related problems with getting harm reduction groups directly affiliated with festivals?
I had to go to the medical tent near Which Saturday because even though this year was my 5th year and I drank water all day, I still managed to dehydrate myself and passed out. I wish I could forget what I saw in there. Plus I witnessed one of the medical staff bodyslam a kid who was obviously having a bad trip. Seriously, that place was not a good place to be if you weren't in the right mind.

My friend messed her foot up, we first went to Which medical then the main unit. The main unit was a mess, and it was Thursday. Several kids go hard in the paint on day 1. They were trying to give a kid an IV and he was not about it at all. I tried to place myself in his shoes, I couldnt imagine but I felt really bad for him.
My friend had 300 dollars stollen while his truck was being searched. Positive the money was there before hand and positive he did not move it in the process or after.
