Whatsup everyone! So a few days ago me and my sister randomly wanted to try something new and decided on bonnaroo as a last minute trip. We gathered a few more buddies and now we got a group of roo virgins super excited to expirience something new. I'm really big into the electronic scene I've been to ultra music festival the pas three years and I love it and will continue to go most likely. However the past few years have been devoted to electronic music and I'm really excited to broaden my spectrum! Plan on seeing a bunch of groups I've never heard of and meeting tons of new people!
Really excited to camp too since all the electronic festies arnt really camping ones.

I am a Roo Virgin as well! Been to quite a few festivals but I have always counted Roo among the elite; if not THE elite in America. Despite that fact, I've never made it to the farm until this year. There are quite a few veterans accompanying me so I'm not the slightest bit worried about anything.
It sounds like you have the right mentality though. I am, for the most part, going to negate the word 'no' from my vocabulary for the whole fest. I'll try things I've never heard of, jam to tunes that may be foreign to my ears, and meet people I maybe would have never talked to back home. I look at it as sort of a spiritual experience. I will come home different no matter what and I cannot express how excited I am about that prospect!

Well both of you be prepared to have your mind blown and experience the best four days of your life. You wont regret your decision to go one bit. See yall on the farm!
It is a great time. but remember it's a marathon not a sprint. My first year I forgot my clothes, Partied a little to hard and slept through most of BB king and felt pretty terrible through pearl jam.. So please remember 3 waters to 1 beer and you should be fine.
^^^^what he said. First 'roo is truly mind blowing, be sure to soak it up because those are the quickest 4 days ever. Prepare to have a blast! And I just want to reiterate it's a marathon, take care of yourself with proper hydration, nutrition, and all that. Welcome to the fam!
I wish I could go back to my first steps into Centeroo, bottle up that feeling, and just sip from the bottle occasionally to remind myself that life doesn't always suck.
Seriously, I'm jealous of people who get to walk around Centeroo for the first time in 3 weeks. That first walk around Centeroo is always like a "kid on X-mas" feeling for me, but the first time was like a kid on X-mas who got a the keys to Disneyworld or something.

It truly opened my eyes. I was amazed at all these new experiences. My first Roo was also my first Festival....so it was extra awesome.

I second all of this! My first Roo was my first festival too...and we fucked up bigtime. Had to leave Saturday afternoon, my friend had sun poisoning on her face and it was swelling up to the point where she looked like a dolphin. It was pretty terrible. (Probably wouldn't have happened if she listened to me and didn't wait until mid-Thursday afternoon to put sunblock on).
Yup, my first Roo was my first real festival, too. Coming from NYC, I just had never been to a place where everyone (literally everyone) was friendly. Pay attention to people's faces on Thursday, you will probably never see that many smiling people in the same place again, well, until your next Roo.

Silknasty and Freeman, you both have the perfect attitude going in! Bonnaroo is an ever-changing, life-changing experience and the more open you are to getting out of your musical comfort zone, the more fun you'll have. As this will be my 11th Roo, here are my suggestions: 1. CRUCIAL: Make friends with your neighbors while you're setting up camp. Share space, supplies, stories, et cetera. If anything untoward happens at your campsite, your neighbors are your first line of defense, and you'll probably make lifelong friendships. 2. Get yourself lost before you get unsober. Then find your way back to your camp. I call this "programming your BPS" (Butt Positioning System) 3. Don't be super-attached to what shows your friends are gonna go see. Wander off by yourself and follow your ears.

Also remember you may have your days all planned out with the schedule for "NOW" but can almost guarantee by Fri night you are to to say screw this and just wander and enjoy the music, the people and views
Haha thanks for all the info guys! The best part about bonnaroo for me is im not the one putting everything together, im pretty much tagging along with my sis and her friends who i dont really know well and i dont have to watch over them! at the end of the day its all good an well because i dont have to worry about people getting back to the hotel safe and whatnot. I plan on many solo adventures and new friends to come!
I will for sure stay hydrated(buddy let me borrow his camel back ), and sunscreen is a must.

Enjoy every second of it newbs (including the 20 odd days of lead up excitement)!
Bonnaroo is truly a one of a kind, awesome experience, which as Flanzo said is like getting that, "kid on Christmas morning feel". For me that feeling has yet to dissipate in the 4 years I have been going.
Do yourselves a favor and read through the various invaluable threads that will help make life easier. There is so much to take in but also a lot to be mindful of. May I repeat a few things that have been said here already...
1. Water, Water, Water (A Camelback is a great idea) 2. Sunscreen and lot's of it. 3. A big hat and some bandana's to cope with the heat and potential dust. 4. Don't load up on to much food when packing, the food is fairly inexpensive by festie standards and there is plenty of variety. You will just end up bringing a ton back with you or find it has spoiled by Sunday. 5. A tarp set-up or shade tent for camp will make you that much more happy by day 2. 6. This is not a sprint it's a marathon. Going too hard right away will not make for a pleasant weekend and you will regret it afterwards. I have seen many an eager festival goer turned to dust these past handful of years by going full tilt on Thursday. 7. Check out at least one act you wouldn't normally or have no idea about.
There is a lot more to be said in preparation but like I sad there are a bunch of great threads on here for that.

The first time you go into centeroo, it will truly be magical. Soak it in all four (five) days, I can't wait to be back for my second year. 17 days til I'm back on the farm!!
This will be my Fourth year and I can't tell you enough to have bananas, shade, lots of water and comfortable shoes. Something people forget is that EVERY road is made of horribly uncomfortable rocks that can be conquered by thick-soled shoes. Be flexible and open minded, bonnaroo is a little happy haven so leave your real world outside.
Also don't expect everyone to want to see/do the same things- if you are all new just make sure there are "meet-up" places or a buddy system. Roo should be a fun time for ALL.
First Roo! ;D super stoked! I can't wait to see everything for the first time. The guys I'm going with say they're jealous because it's my first one. They wish it was their first again too. hahah

15 days!!!!
Yeah, this is how I feel every year. My advice is not to worry about taking everything in the first walk through Centeroo. Just enjoy that you made it and make some friends that you'll inevitably run into through out the weekend.
