Hey Guys, I am graduating this year from High School and I was wondering if you think Bonnaroo is a good idea for me and about 3 other friends. I don't dislike the setlist, but it's not the best ever, if you know what I mean... I've never been before and I was wondering if you think it is safe enough and good enough for a mature high schooler like myself to go to... Also, would it be worth it to drive down from Central Virginia??? Thanks and any info is worth it!!!!!!!
Bonnaroo is what you make of it. The people there are the nicest you'll ever find, but also anything you want to get into you can so it takes a certain amount of maturity. if you can keep out of trouble you will have an amazing experience.

I drive from northern Maryland, it take about 13 hours; but frankly, I'd drive for 30 if I had to. I went in '05 and don't plan on missing it ever again.

Yes absolutely worth the drive. Research some of the bands you haven't heard of before you go and you will find out you like the line-up better than you think.
As a female, I would happily go alone so that should tell you how safe it is. Of course you have to make smart decisions and not put yourself in bad situations but if you are as mature as you say then that won't be an issue

If it is a 9 hour drive from Central Virginia to 'Roo and the gates open at 7:00 am...what time do you think I should leave....should I arrive at 7 or much earlier due to traffic...

Look around in That Tent - it is about a 6-7 hour drive for us and we head up on Wednesday and go to Wal-mart until they open the gates

They say the gates open at 7 am, but they usually open earlier than that. I'd leave around 8 or 9 pm . . . but no matter when you decide to leave, do no forget there is a time-zone change on your way!

I think it's a great idea. If something like this would have existed back when I graduated high school I would have loved to have gone.
As long as you use a little sense and be responsible for your own party, then I think it's safe and amazingly fun. If you are concerned about being harmed by other humans at 'roo, it's pretty rare, I have never seen a fight there. It's worth a pretty long drive, in '05 I drove about 15 hours, last year 10 hours not counting the waiting in line part.
Also, don't fixate on the lineup. In the two Bonnaroos I have attended I have only actually seen 1 headliner. Plus, both times I heard bands that I didn't even know who I was listening to until the set was over that I really liked. Hell in '05, I really didn't even see that many bands (like four or five all weekend), I just walked around and hung out with people and just took in the surroundings. Both times count as pretty much the best weekend of the year.

It would be an awesome idea, especially if you just graduated high school. That's such a free time in your life, I can't imagine you guys not having a blast. It's worth the time and the money, more than you would imagine. I recommend it strongly!

tell me when you win 3 super bowls in that time period and then run your mouth moby thingy your lucky bastard quarterback had the luckiest drive of his life and we still almost won.... ^^^^sox85 where are you from...my family is from New Hampshire and I live there and Mass. during the summer
I drove from central Virginia last year. It's a pretty easy drive. I forgot completely about the time change, so good that you've been reminded of that, already. The southwestern portion of Virginia is sort of boring to drive in the dark. Long stretches of nothing. Same goes for the portion after Knoxville and before Chattanooga. If you're driving overnight, plan for something to keep the driver alert. Coffee. Tunes. Preferably, another person on watch. Because you will go hours at a time with no major cities, at some points. Which means just you and whomever is on the road. Nothing to look at. No overhead lights. If you plan for that (and don't push your gas tank to empty; I remember going up to 45 minutes at a time, between gas opportunities), you'll do fine.
I understand (18-1) that you're a little (18-1) upset about how (18-1) the game went down (18-1). But come on (18-1) just look at January (18-1) you guys played a wild card Jax team (18-1) and a beat up gimpy (18-1) Chargers team (18-1) both at home (18-1) we beat 3 division champs (18-1) all at full strength (18-1) all on the road (18-1) and we made T.O. cry (18-1)....that was the best post season in history!
That said...I'll leave you alone...I wouldn't want to hear it if WE lost...

I wouldn't say shit to you if we won because I know we were the better team (3 super bowls in 7 years) (Giants: 1 in 20 years) give me a break....also I know you are probably a frontrunner, but how does 2004 and 2007 sound for world series rings...... You probably just started liking the Giants after they won........by the way we beat you in the regular season...beat the Cowboys by 24 points and went undefeated...you got lucky and won a super bowl...congratufuckinglations.....good luck next year because you're gonna need it when you go 10-6 again in a weak ass conference.....when you win more than once..then you can talk..
I wouldn't say nuts to you if we won because I know we were the better team (3 super bowls in 7 years) (Giants: 1 in 20 years) give me a break....also I know you are probably a frontrunner, but how does 2004 and 2007 sound for world series rings...... As promised...I'm gonna let this go...but weak conference? The NFC East is the toughest division in football...sent 6 teams to the playoffs in the last 2 seasons....and YOU and your perfect (18-1) season play the Jets twice, the Bills twice, and the Dolphins twice...c'mon...you're in the softest division in all of sports!!! Don't come at me with weak stats...
By the way....Giants fan since I went to the NFC Championship game in the 86 Superbowl season...which if I've got the math right...was before you were born.
^^^holy nuts..I live in Charlottesville as well!!! I don't think the drive will be too bad....are you doing this year...
Ha! Small world. Yes, I'm going again, but I'll be VIP'ing it again, this year. A little different sort of deal, with the "when do I leave and where am I going?" Fewer people with whom to line up. I'm probably leaving sometime on Wednesday and sleeping in the car with ThatBoy, until check-in for us starts. Feel free to private message me with any logistical questions, but I just used the standard directions anyone can get at mapsonus.com or mapquest.com. Pretty straightforward; nothing tricky. I'm sure you'll do fine!

Hey dumbass......the NFC East is not a conference...I don't think I said anything about divisions....i think that's what you mean...you are welcome to talk about the NFC West...NFC North or NFC South..... Let's see here.....Dolphins and Jets are usually respectable teams.... We beat the Chargers, Cowboys, Colts, Steelers, Jaguars, and every team in your TOUGH division during the regular season...we beat the redskins by 50 points...cowboys by 24 and giants and eagles by 3 during the regular season...don't give me that crap about how you are in the best division when we beat every team in your division by a combined 80 points during the regular season...how are those stats for you.....we lost in a fluke this year and we will win it next year..again tell me when you win 3 super bowls in a 5 year time period and then run your mouth... yea that was before i was born, but I sure as hell know about it and it was if I do the math right.........22 years ago..haha come on now... it's baseball season and I know I can talk as much crap as I want about the red-sox, but I'm guessing you're a frontrunner if you started liking the Giants after they won something...so you probably don't like the Yankees...
ya know - I just could not seem to make it past this line of your post to read anything else - it's all good to be defensive of your team and stuff - but this wasn't called for - no one needs or deserves to be called a dumbass around here
