I'll have to admit that I was somewhat let down when I first saw the 08 lineup. And I think this is the reason: There were so many GREAT bands that I missed last year Railroad Earth, Gov'ment Mule, Keller Williams, (Had to crash half way through Flaming Lips..MAJOR REGRET) that I was hoping some of them would return so I would get a chance to see them. But practically NONE of the bands that were there last year will be at Roo this year And you know what..........
..........that's OKAY!
I've got a chance to see Willie Nelson and B.B. King. Both of these men are living legends, and unfortunately they will not be with us in body much longer. And I will see them.
The Allman Brothers Band and Phil Lesh. Classic Roo Jam Band Stuff.
Can't WAIT to see Robert Plant & Allison Krauss.
An all female cover band of Led Zeppelin, LEZ ZEPPELIN.
There's gonna be a lot of great stuff at Roo 08 and I CAN"T WAIT!!!
That's great that the lineup is growing on you. I think that's been happening to a lot of people. I just love the lineup! So many great, diverse bands!

With Pearl Jam, Jack Johnson, Allman Brothers, Derek Trucks and Susan Tedeschi, BB King, Willie Nelson, Lupe Fiasco, Talib Kweli, Raconteurs, Robert Randolph's Revival, Vampire Weekend, Drive-By Truckers, an amazing comedy tent, and plenty of other great acts on the bill I don't have much to complain about.

the 2008 lineup has totally grown on me too now im mostly worried about the scheduling conflicts lol
That's always a pain, but in the past I have been content with seeing half of an artist's set and then skipping along to another tent to see someone else. Unless I'm a huge fan of the band in front of me or they are putting on a heluva set, I will usually wander to another stage midway through.

i guess it's easy to point out the negatives, but same for me, as days go by i keep realizing how many bands i'd like to see. This line up is too good actually because i know its impossible to see all the bands i'd like. I went through the lineup yesterday and picked out over 30, and we haven't even had additions! Damned good lineup

after the initial shock of Metallica and the other headliners, my eyesight returned and I looked at the rest of the lineup. Immediately I felt a warm rush of blood to my head & my heart and I knew everything was going to be alright...most of my friends have recovered as well, thankfully....

I feel the same way, it was a shock, but now I am totally ready to go. I am hoping that I can convince my camp neighbors from last year to go too, it would be so great to hang out with them again.
briteny_fears "I like positive. Positive is good. I'm okay. We're okay. It's all good."
THIS made me chuckle sounds like a car wreck I responded to and when I asked the obviously a mom if she and the kids were ok? she said " I think So, you okay ok i'm ok you okay so I said to her yeah I'm okay you ok? and she went on and on ...till she realised I was not in the accident!!!!! too funny ( I just played along till she calmed a bit).
I think the reason that a lot of people were initially negative towards the '08 line up was because they had built it up in their heads so much ahead of time. After The Police headlined last year a lot of people realized that Superfly/AC could land just about any band they wanted to (with the exception of Led Zeppelin maybe/maybe not). So then we create our own fantasy lineups with all our favorite bands. 100 of our favorite bands playing live at Bonnaroo. When it turns out to be 25 out of our top 100 bands and then plus 10 bands we haven't heard; obviously we're going to be let down. Then I think people start to see the lineup for what its worth and realize it has merit.

i was a little bummed when i first saw the lineup. but then i started thinking about the 10+ bands that last year i had no idea who they were b4 the roo and now i listen to on the reg. and i started checking out the ones i dont know on the line up this year and am pretty pumped about some of them. to me this is what bonnaroo and life are about expierincing new stuff.

The ticket is worth it if you're interested in a minimum of three bands/day. Consider an average (entirely unscientific, mind you) of $25/ticket for a regular concert, of which you would normally only attend one in a day. 3 bands you see in one day at Roo x 4 days at Roo x $25 average ticket price for an individual concert ticket=$300. Add in the camping and the festivities and you've more than made your ticket price back in value for time and money spent.
I know the lineup isn't as exciting for me as some years, but there's plenty to make me happy and hopefully some new discoveries as well. Woo hoo!

this breakdown puts it all into perspective really
This lineup is as diverse as it should get at Roo... my only complaint is that we're a little heavy on the electro-rock and the indie... especially the indie. But this lineup ROCKS... I can't stress it enough, there are so many more artists this year that I want to see than in previous years.

This lineup is awesome for me. I must admit, last year's was not too thrilling (for me), although I still went and had a great time (as I knew I would). The '06 lineup was nice, but I was a festival virgin, and did not know the things that I know now. This year, though, I'm super stoked. The only thing that could make it better for me at this point is a little Les Claypool (now that we know the Mars Volta are out), but I'll deal. The depth is insane...check out the unofficial schedule here on Inforoo, Saturday alone is bonkers. Thursday, too, already.
This is probably my last Bonnaroo, as I'll be moving from Knoxville back to Jacksonville this summer, and I couldn't be happier with the lineup. I might even stop to listen to a Metallica song as I'm walking by to get my spot for My Morning Jacket.
People have crapped on the lineup on other websites *cough* jambase.com *cough* but I think it's amazing. There are about 17 acts i want to see not to mention the comedians. aside from chris rock i probably wont watch comedians unless some are on Thrusday night and i see them before DSO.

does anyone remember when the band's time slots were announced last year? I would hate to have to choose between the likes of Ghostland Observatory and say Sigur Ros, or MMJ.
