I'm a little bummed about Phoenix's spot at Jazz Fest; was hoping they could be a pre- headlining show (Lips spot).
They would be in the FLips spot if added. They will be headlining another stage at the same time Fleetwood Mac is playing at Jazzfest. And that means they are subs at any other fest (or even headliners at smaller fests). Look at some of the other second billed on the other days at Jazzfest: Willie Nelson, Earth, Wind & Fire, Hall and Oates, etc.

I am somewhat confused I suppose? According to what I have seen the two fests seem to have little to no crossovers whatsoever. I think the only artists they shared last year were Givers and Gary Clark Jr., but I could be mistaken.
Oh I misunderstood, I wasn't saying that Phoenix will/could be at Hangout. I'm just saying that if they were, they would be subs. It is possible that onle the big headliners at jazzfest (top 7) are under radius clause agreements, so I wouldn't completely count them out.
I hope this means we get Furthur or Phil & Friends w/ Scofield...... I am not a fan of Jackie Green at all, very glad he is in the Crowes now and can stay away from Dead music for a little while.
I want Jackie at Hangout in any form..Crowes or w Phil. He is one of my favorite touring musicians right now.

I got bored. Here are last year's overlaps with Jazz Fest, Wakarusa, and Mountain Jam:
Jazz Fest: Gary Clark Jr, Givers, Mavis Staples, Big Freedia
Wakarusa: Heartless Bastards, Umphrey's McGee, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, G. Love and Special Sauce, Gary Clark Jr, The Devil Makes Three, Paper Diamond, Futurebirds, Tribal Seeds, The Lumineers
Mountain Jam: Steve Winwood, Michael Franti & Spearhead, Dawes, Gary Clark Jr, Givers
That's 16 total acts that eventually ended up on Hangout's lineup, so the other lineups that dropped this week probably contain a good bit of the undercard. Here's who I think is possible from each one:
Jazz Fest: Band of Horses, Dr. John, Andrew Bird, Harper and Musselwhite, Charles Bradley, Better Than Ezra, Calexico, Jimmy Cliff, Frank Ocean, Galactic, Mutemath
Wakarusa: basically everybody that isn't WSP, STS9 or Dispatch
Mountain Jam: Phil Lesh, Gov't Mule, Primus, The Avett Brothers, Soulive, Deer Tick, Rubblebucket, ALO
The Avett Brothers are basically a lock, and I'd say Gov't Mule is looking very likely since they're at Beale but not Jazz Fest.

looking at the wakarusa lineup, i'm dismayed to say that the only crossovers i'd look forward to are EDM acts:
gramatik griz eoto minnesota
eesh.
FWIW, if anyone knows how to get hold of some deftones @ soul kitchen tix, let a brotha know. we tried getting them the morning after they went on sale and they were gone. scalpers on stubhub are on crack, or at least trying to buy some, asking $150+ last i saw.
There should be tickets available outside.. take yer chances! For a show like Deftones ticketless people aren't going to know about the finger in the air trick.

I am calling Crosby, Stills and Nash (fingers crossed for a CSNY, but prob not) for a Saturday spot. They are going to be in FL on Friday and NC Sunday. Also, Avett bros are a lock for a Sunday spot...hopefully not a headliner, they don't deserve to be a headliner. I think they will be in the same timeslot that Edward Sharpe got last year.
Also, Flips said last year that they will be at the fest every year. If thats the case, count on the Black Keys attending also.
Also, heard a rumor from a guy who lives in Gulf Shores that the rumor around there is that Trey will be there, but who knows how accurate that is.

Avetts had the Edward Sharpe time slot in 2011, but they've gotten significantly bigger since then. Their upcoming tour includes arenas and civic centers, so I'd be surprised if they aren't the Sunday pre-headliner.
The Black Keys are one of the big Jazz Fest headliners, no way they show up at Hangout. FLips will be in Europe.
I doubt Crosby, Stills and Nash is happening. Yes they have an open spot on saturday between the Jacksonville and Charlotte shows, but look at the rest of their tour dates. They are coming back down here and playing shows in Huntsville, Mongomery, and Biloxi. That gap on the 19th will most likely be filled by an ATL show at Chastain Park Amphitheatre or something. You're probably right about Avett Brothers though. UGH!
Now we're getting somewhere. Thanks Problem Dog for the research. Are we still thinking Muse/Neil Young or Tom Petty/A Trey project as the top three? I can't remember if there was evidence for the Young or Petty thing. Feel free to crucify me.

I see what you are saying about CSN, but the reason I think that slot will be Hangout is because, traditionally, when they announce tour legs they do the entire tour leg at once... I could be way off, but it just doesn't seem like they would leave the blank just to add an ATL show, but as an ATL native, I totally agree that Chastain is a potential.
Maybe I am holding on to the 19th just because I think it would be sick

Also, Panic, Tedeschi Trucks and Mule have been announced at Wanee. So, we can count them out pretty much.
Also, hangouts social media SUCKS. They throw a badass festival, but roo gives us 'roo clues, wanee gives us headliners, and waka gives us a full on lineup. I wish they would step their game up.

Here are some bands I would like to see at Hangout. Other than the "not impossible, but not-so-probable" list I will try to limit this to bands I think could actually play Hangout.
First, the not impossible but not-so-probable: Macca, Roger Waters, Prince, Bruce, Sufjan Stevens, Lauryn Hill Second, the slightly-more-possible, but I would still be pretty surprised: Elton John, James Taylor, Billy Joel, Van Morrison, David Byrne, Santana, Jeff Mangum Third, bands I wouldn't mind that would tick everyone else in this thread off: Mumford, Muse, John Mayer, Tom Petty Fourth, everything else: Pearl Jam, Rage Against the Machine, My Morning Jacket, Sound Garden, Ryan Adams, Fiona Apple, Primus, Local Natives, The National, MGMT, Big Gigantic, Passion Pit, The Luminers, Ben Folds Five, Jamiroquai, Moby, Dr. John, Lyle Lovett, Of Monsters and Men, Imagine Dragons, Youth Lagoon, Real Estate, Little Green Cars, Matt Nathanson, Perpetual Groove, Neon Indian, Japandroids, Ben Howard, Michael Kiwanuka, Shad, ZZ Ward, Moon Taxi

Isn't there supposed to be comedy this year?
Also, if Voodoo 2013 or Jazz Fest 2014 don't grab Pearl Jam this/next year, I fully expect them to be a heavy favorite for a headlining slot at Hangout 2014.

That's funny someone mentioned Hangout social media. I feel like they've been way more quiet this pre-fest cycle than previous. Wonder what's up with that.
Matt, you pretty much hit them all.
I'm always super selfish and would love to see multiple meld bands come. Like if Soundgarden,RATM came we could get Audioslave stuff; if Pearl Jam,Soundgarden then Temple of the Dog etc.
I think Green Day is possible this year as they do not start a Summer trek in Europe until May 24 and have no US shows after mid April. Also in the "legends" section I would say Bob Seger is possible as he has about a dozen dates, mainly western states and some midwest and Canada ones. Nothing set for him post April 2. I think Jimmy Buffett could play too given the various connections he has with the area and promoters. I could also see Phoenix and Queens of the Stone Age as 2nd stage closers.
