I could give a crap about Macca exclusivity. I hope he's at Roo and Hangout.
Both crowds would love it and have a massive Beatles party. The beach would be a better setting for that music, and the party would be stronger at Bonnaroo. Both fests deserve some love!
Haven't been keeping up with this thread since I posted last so sorry if this is a repost but I heard from my source that the line-up was supposed to be released earlier but a major act backed out at the last minute and they have been scrambling to find a replacement.
Don't know who the act was...hoping it was not Macca but I could see Bonnaroo big leaguing Hangout and offering Sir Paul more money to not play anywhere else.

Close but not exactly. The lineup has been waiting on an artist, not a backout.
Nuh uh! My wife's cousin's dog's veterinarian's barber also cuts Shaul's hair and she overheard a cell phone conversation about MumSons backing out and him giving the go ahead to get Slayer for their replacement. That's right. It will be raining blood on the beach this year. Pepper your angus.

That's funny coming from the guy who bases his entire argument for Muse and Mumford from a dude at the early bird sale. That and a odd masochistic desire to see them at Hangout.

I really had a feeling that this was the year Bonnaroo was going to have a bigger better line up. Good call.

Muse has a gap in their tour dates. It's not a huge stretch to think that they might announce another string of dates around a festival appearance or two. But most people seem to think Kings of Leon are more likely than Muse at this point.
Mumford is playing Sasquatch a week after Hangout, and they are a major rumor for Bonnaroo. They will likely be playing US dates in May-June.
Not to mention both of them fit with what Hangout has booked the last 2 years. Altogether, that's a little more than just the Black Friday talk.

Couldn't they just have done what Gov Ball did and say "One more to come" if that were the case?

Look, all you do is negate. Who do you think WILL be there? And don't hedge by saying you have too much inside info that you can't spill, because you've already admitted you don't have actual names. Nut up and predict something. If you're right, and all of us are way off base, you'll have our respect once the lineup drops.
At this point, my gut says:
Petty | Kings of Leon | Mumford | TAB (2 sets)
With alternates for Petty being Dylan or McCartney (who has never sat that well with me). I could still see Muse instead of KoL, and I could see Furthur/Phil instead of TAB. Maybe even Avetts billed 4th if they book a smaller jam band.
And with that, I'm going silent until the lineup drops, because this thread is getting godawful. I might pop in if something intriguing pops up, but it's doubtful.

I've been thinking the same. I think that's what happened last year. Wasn't RHCP announced the Friday after the initial lineup announcement?
Yep, and Jack White was announced as a one-off before the full line-up came out. Really weird how they did it last year...I think it was because Jack was releasing his tour schedule and Hangout had to break it for that reason.

Now that it seems Roo beat out HMF for Macca, I think Petty is a lock. I don't know who is coming, I haven't been told that. I have been told who isn't and Mumford will not be at the HMF.
So really could be anyone else. Muse, Green Day, KoL...those are all possibilities like its been discussed ad naseum.
I agree with you. TAB seems most likely for the "jam" spot.
So I guess my nut up will be that Mumford isn't coming. For whatever dumb quack reason that's worth.

Nice, some real info...although disappointing. Mumford on the beach would be a great time. If neither Roo or Hangout nab them i'll be extremely disappointed. I happened to catch their tent show in 2010 at Roo before they blew up and was simply blown away. Was happy to see them back next year, and they deserve all the praise they receive. They put their all into their shows, and you can tell they have a great time doing it.

If McCartney doesn't play at the Hangout who (possibly) could be the biggest name on the lineup? I have confidence that the HO will get a good headliner. I'm just going to be disappointed if Greenday or Kings of Leon are at the top of the lineup come tuesday. I mean both great bands and would enjoy them both on the beach but it would be hard to pump myself up for either as a headliner. Once again if anyone has any insight please fill free to share but back it up.
Also a name I haven't heard anyone say for as possible Headliner is Hootie and the Blowfish. I know I read somewhere about a month ago the were talking about getting back together for one more tour. I have no reason what so ever to believe they will but I mean it just seems like a good fit. Could anyone else see them playing?
So, newb question here for The Hangout Fest. When do tickets usually go on sale? I know I missed the early bird sale, but I've reserved a condo and really need to make sure I get tickets. So, do they usually go on sale when the lineup is announced? And how soon do they sell out (like, within minutes or within days/weeks)?
