You know what would be even worse than pre-reunion Beach Boys or The Eagles? Jack Johnson or Jimmy Buffett. And they make perfect sense for this fest. I will devote many hours to flaming the shiiiit out of their facebook page with multiple throwaway accounts if either are on the lineup.
Haha sadly, I can totally see Buffett with an afternoon slot- luckily I don't think either are headliner-relevent anymore.
Shoot, buffett crowds rage harder than anyone.
Gulf shores did want it to be more family friendly, too... But I don't see it happening.

Buffett headlined the softest day of jazzfest (thursday) last year when Eddie Vedder dropped out. He's not cheap.

So they make perfect sense for the fest...but they'd be horrible? Makes tons of sense.
Jesus people how many times has it been said, You DONT go to a festival for the headliners. ESP s quacking beach party!?!? I don't rage to dave or jack white but I bought a ticket and had a blast! If we get panic & mum ill be there again...hell ill be there again if we don't get em. Some of you just seem like negative nancies
Dude...
Not really up to you to decide WHY other people go to a festival.
In fact, I go for the complete opposite reason typically.
Since my first 'Roo in '04, Iv gone for the top of the bill. Then, once im there, I get to see a ton of bands I would have never previously paid to go see, and many that have never heard of.
I dont buy $200-$300 tix to see a bunch of bands I could see in a club for $20... I go to see 3-6 bands I really like, that id pay $60 bucks each to see, THEN I get the bonus of seeing a ton of other smaller bands, and bands that I will discover for the first time.
Not really up to you to tell people how to pick a festival or how to spend their hard earned $.
Fest-snobs are worse than 'bros' or the swiss-cheese brain EDM folk anyday of the week.

I agree with you Reid. I think because the headliners kind of make up the patron-vibe of the fest, they are important- and HO does not have a gigantic undercard also, since they have to close at 11 they do matter. I don't like Dave so I left for his set but honestly Jack and RHCP sold me on the fest- when it was just jack and dave I wasn't going to spend my money to see bands I can catch before/after the fest when they stop over here in ATL for $20

Do what whatever makes you happy guy. I wasn't telling anyone to go/ not go. Like I said I'll be there either way. I was simply referring to posts throwing away the chance of the lineup kicking ass before it has even been released.
Buffett was just in Pensacola last Tuesday. When the lineup announcement started to look like it wasn't happening last Tues, I began fearing the possibility of them having to wait until after the Pcola show to announce. That said, it would be VERY unlikely that Hangout would book someone who just played a show in Pensacola a few months prior. It just wouldn't make sense aside from the obvious beach vibe, and flooding HF with Parrotheads would not be good at all (for the usual festival goers at least).

Buffett would be a headliner. Dude sells out everywhere he goes. Granted, I live in Little Rock, but he sold out our 18,000 seat arena in less than a day, and the Parrot-Heads tailgated like it was the fucking superbowl. And I think Justin Beiber and 2 Counrty acts were previously the only people to sell it out. Crazy ass show (mainly because of his fans).
Plus, dude sings about the exact area ("Bama-Breeze")
He could sell out Hangout, with the same ticket prices, by himself.
Its not for everyone, but he has a HARDCORE fanbase of old dudes who are in the middle of their mid-life crisis, who have the money to go anywhere to see him, especially on the beach.
Hes and automatic sell-out for any venue almost. So he certainly aint cheep.

What'd you think of RHCP at HO'12? I was super hyped to see them and I thought it was kinda toned down. But Im a big DMB fan and his set was the worst of the 12 or so Dave shows Iv seen.
RHCP on their tour was much better than the HO show luckily.
I wasnt really a big JAck White fan until HO'12... He converted me in about ten minutes.

^ I felt like I was watching a Civil War Re-enactment. They're not the same without John, IMO. A thousand times better than their show in ATL when Josh couldn't get his foot off of the distortion pedal and play a damn note to save his life... They were the best in Louisville in my opinion, but I wish they strayed from their setlists more....I guess a band as big as they are, you pay to see the hits...I wanted to see some charlie, mellowship, purple stain...but alas, we got maggie'd
However, I was right up against the rail and I am not sure if y'all knew this but about 10 minutes before they went on people about 15 mins back started calling for a medic..so we made a pathway for them to get this drunken mess to some help..well I am the pathway, so she gets about 5 feet from me and we all look at eachother with terror as the rank, unmistakable odor of fresh shiz is filling our nostrils. As she climbed over the railing she seemed to come-to as fresh droppings fell out of her bikini bottom and onto the railing. The black security guards weren't gonna touch it, but this weird-ass redneck guard walked up, smacked it off the railing with his hand and then called us pandas.

RHCP was flat. I've seen them in arenas twice over the previous 3 years and it was wayyy better. Also a big Dave fan and I agree that was the worst show of his that I've seen in my lifetime (20+ shows). I also wasn't super impressed at the West Palm Beach shows last year so maybe they or I am just losing it... Jack White was the highlight of last year's festival for me. I know it isn't happening and wouldn't in a million years, but I'd be ecstatic if he came back and played the exact same set again this year.
It's ok. I knew the Dave hate was coming. I dislike a lot of the new crowd too, but the shows from the late 90's early 00's were great. Taught me to appreciate real music with instruments rather than the ghetto rap me and most every other teenager was listening to in middle school. No regrets, no shame.

Any other festival it would be like that for me, but with hangout it's a short drive, it's a week on the beach with friends, and it's a good time to see bands I normally wouldn't check out without being there already.
I had a blast in that techno tent last year. A blast. I had t listened to techno in a while ( or whatever it is now ), but I was in love.
I don't like rhcp or jack white. And I had to leave Sunday evening for work Monday.
I like hangout just cause its a place I spent every weeknd as a 15 - 20 year old in the summer, and it's awesome going back down there and throwing down with old friends.

Doubt the lineup happening today this late in the afternoon. What are the chances it's somewhat NOLA themed if they release tomorrow? Maybe some Dr. John, Trombone Shorty, etc?
