No need to be sorry at all!! I don't mind doing the work and I appreciate yall getting these things posted quickly! Just wanted to make sure we weren't doubling efforts! Thanks again guys!
Hey guys, I'm new to FLAC stuff.. Am I missing something when using trader's little helper? I'm converting to MP3 but it's not capturing the track name and album name info.. Is that just something with FLAC that I have to do it myself or is there a button I need to press? Thanks in advance for any advice!
most of them don't have the artist and track name, gonna hsve to do it yourself, sorry (i prefer to do it before i post it.. but tried to get mine up quickly)
OK. We're sort of getting the hang of this upload thing now. We just posted our second ever show on DIME and it's Phantogram. You probably didn't even know you wanted it. Check it out. Lots more to come.

I taped all day Friday at Which stage since other tapers were covering other stages:
The Kooks Needtobreathe Afrocubism Feist Foster the People
I ran my mics pretty low this year just so I would not have to deal with issues and that introduced new problems of crowd noise as the afternoon progressed with more people showing up. I had a lot of people talking around me during Foster the People so I don't even know if it's worth bothering with, maybe the webcast torrent is a way better option. I didn't see any other tapers at Which stage all day on Friday, unless they were just on the other side out of sight or stealthing.

For Dimeadozen, are you supposed to only upload FLAC files? If so.....can I just turn wav files into FLACs? Any help would be appreciated.
I'm no Dime expert. I just started using it a couple days ago. But here's link to a page from Dime's HELP FAQ discussing what content is allowable on the site. Sounds like WAV files as well as any lossy format files are not allowed. There is lots of software that can turn WAV files into FLAC (Trader's Little Helper and Foobar among many)

I have some pretty amateur/probably not very good recordings of Michael Kiwanuka and Black Star. I just need to cut the WAV files up and convert them to FLAC then I'll add them to Dime. Even if they aren't too great it will help my ratio and I don't know if anyone got Kiwanuka's set. I was basically on a trial run and playing with my Tascam digital recorder.
xACT for mac is a great program to use for converting flac > mp3. I don't know if the other tapers mind, but I think it would be best if you didn't take our recordings and distribute them as mp3s. Keep the mp3's to yourself!

nsl are you talking to me? Or just people in general. I wasn't talking about taking anyone's recordings and distributing them as mp3's in case there was any confusion.
No .wav on dime, just flac for audio. billfloyd what all did you tape? Nice to see some other sets showing up that we didn't get covered.
My wife and I got 21 shows that we are happy with. We were recording with stealth mics, so I'm sure most people didn't notice us except a couple of the tapers that we talked to.
In order, we have EMA, The Lonely Forest, Dirty Guv'hahs (Solar Stage), White Denim, Phantogram, Michael Kiwanuka (last 15 minutes only), Ben Howard, Sharon Jones & the Dap Kings, Avett Brothers, Dawes, Charles Bradley, Blind Pilot (missing first 10 minutes), Oberhofer, North Miss. Allstars (Solar Stage), Gary Clark Jr (Solar Stage), The Roots, Black Box Revelation, Gary Clark Jr (What Stage), City & Colour, Kenny Rogers, and the Shins. All of these came out pretty well. Many of these shows have been posted by others, so we'll concentrate on the ones that aren't out there.

Forgot to include the link to the FAQ page. Here it is:
Awesome...I was starting to doubt there would be a Shins recording! Also I'm surprised nobody has got their Roots pulls up yet. I've spotted a couple people stating that they taped it so I'm not worried. Now I just need to know somebody to confirm they got tUnE-yArDs, Battles & Santogold and I'll be fully covered.
thanks for taping and posting these billfloyd, but do you have your shows in 16 bit?
You're welcome. I just have them in 24 bit because I want to preserve the quality and not create any more work for myself. If I need to create a 16 bit CD, I can. My Nero burning software allows me to add 24 bit files when burning a CD, and it will convert them to 16 bit on the disk. I'm sure there are other solutions too.

Wow, the recordings this year are way more plentiful than last year, if I remember correctly. Thanks guys! The only ones I'd love to have that I haven't seen around (that I can think of off the top of my head) are Bon Iver, SBTRKT, and Ludacris. Has anyone seen those floating trough the internet?

ITM are you straight? I'm not sure if your questions got answered. So far as I know flac is the most common but I could swear I've seen shn files as well. Personally I always go with flac.
I use Audacity to cut up wav files (audacity.sourceforge.net/) and FLAC Frontend to convert them to flac (members.home.nl/w.speek/flac.htm). Both are open source, free to download, and fairly intuitive to use. FLAC Frontend can also convert flac files into wav files so that you can re-encode those to mp3 or another lossy format of your choice using Audacity. All in all a pretty simple process that I'd be happy to help you with if you needed some assistance.
Here's my share stats on Dime - Uploaded 233.95 GB Downloaded 96.05 GB Share Ratio 2.44
As you can see I'm very comfortably in the safe zone as far as my share ratio goes and I'd be willing to let you use my account for a couple of days to grab the shows you want (just don't get too crazy w/ it! ;D) I'd think it wouldn't be to hard to then seed them from your Dime account to bring your ratio back up.

Again, seriously, thanks tapers!
The full Bon Iver webcast is floating around but I'm not sure if it's his full set or they cut some songs out. Either way, if you can grab that video you should be able to convert it into mp3s. I'm assuming SOMEBODY did an audience taping as well for that show but we'll see.

Just PM me.
Thanks so much dude. I'll keep this all in mind.
Basically, I want to create some torrents so I can upload and seed them. The few torrents/files that I have gotten already are barely being leeched so the uploads aren't working. I need to find a way to get my ratio up while not being able to download anything new. Also don't feel like donating and that seemed like an option for some kind of help (though not sure exactly how....i'm clueless).
I have WAV files that I recorded. I guess I need to convert them to FLAC so I can put them up as a torrent on Dime. That seems the answer but if I'm wrong - help
I wouldn't want to take anything on your account in fear of them seeing two on the same IP and banning your username. Not sure if that would happen but it seems possible. There's only one or two shows left I need to grab so far but I'd also like to get my ratio up and healthy for the future so I don't run into this.
Hey gang. We have a new upload out there on DIME from the FLOYDZ recording family. It's the Dawes show from Friday June 8. We're missing a couple of notes at the start, but otherwise it's worthy of a listen.

Word. Your on the right path, convert the wavs to flac. Do check out their faq regarding the uploading of torrents. I've never actually uploaded OC myself but they have guide lines. billfloyd could probably set you in the right direction for that! HUGE THANK YOU BILLFLOYD!!!!
Now that I think about it using my account wouldn't work to boost your share ratio. Their torrent files are personalized to your account when you dl them, that's how they track your ratio. If you dl show on my dime when you seed it it would show up under my account not yours. It would look like me using your computer. However if you just want to grab those shows I got plenty of share room left.
Let me know when you post those and I'll be sure to download them to help you out. I'm sure others in this thread might be willing to do the same. Make 'em as big and uncompressed as possible!! ;D That should do the trick.

If you could grab the White Denim webcast just in case it gets taken down before I get my ratio up that'd be fantastic. That's one show I'm dying to get the video of but it was put up after I was able to grab some things. I've got most of the other webcasts I wanted.

What webcasts do you have?
A few of them from Dimeadozen. Alabama Shakes, Bon Iver, St. Vincent
