I wanted to ask you guys a question about the contest concerning continuing it on to next year. A lot of people lost interest early, and the biggest reason is because of how hard it obviously is to make up ground. Does anyone have any ideas on how we can make the point swings larger?
A few ideas I have thought of were picking against the spread, which i feel would make it a lot harder than just picking the straight up winner, and would possibly give people more of chance at gaining ground.
Also, I was thinking of possibly implementing an amount of points given to the winner of each week. So, if you happen to win a week, you get a total of 20-30, maybe even more points added on to your point total for each week you win. I think that would make swings a lot larger, and also keep people interested throughout the season, because you would have more of chance.
Even those of us near the bottom half of the top ten will have a rough time gaining enough ground to win, let alone those outside of it. Any feedback would be appreciated. Even perhaps switching to a different format other than confidence points. Maybe a survivor league?
I'm not doing very well with the picks but I still enjoy making them. I've been sick for the past month and I've missed some games which does make it hard to make up that ground so I like the idea of getting additional points if you win the week.
If we do the same exact thing next year I'd still join even though I'm not very good. I've had fun and am glad someone will win their Roo ticket!

I'd be down with a survivor league, though I've never actually done one.
If you wanted to keep it simple, we could always just do a pick'em league with no confidence points. There are people right now only a couple games back in terms of W-L, but are like 12th in points, which as you said is impossible to make up at this point in the season. Just a thought.
so how does glenron suddenly get 2 teams? someone better get to explaining, and pretty quick...that shiz isn't cool...
My original Yahoo account that I've had for like 8 years just completely vanished somehow. I messaged pmo on here (though I haven't heard back yet) that I'm just going to do the 800 points from my original account and add them to glennron dos. I couldn't remember if I made the rest of my picks for my first one so I'm just going to use what I have from my second account for this week but I didn't use the 2 points (cause that's what I gave to the Bills on my first one). It should be fine.
on my screen it looks like your original account has made picks?
Yeah I realize that now. I obviously couldn't look last night so I just told pmo to use whatever I got from my second account from this week. I'm not pulling any shady sh*t or anything.
and I have 3 fantasy football teams, this pick'em league, and a fantasy basketball team on yahoo, so I'm on there alot...only issue with yahoo was last sunday, but that shouldn't have anything to do with this week...
ummm...i don't like it...I haven't had the first problem, and now your picks are different on the 2 accounts...not cool with me...
What exactly is the problem? For what reason would I start messing with this? My first account is literally gone. It would've been impossible for me to make picks with it. I couldn't remember if I made the picks. I made my second picks last night and told pmo last night to use those picks. It's no different than if I would've changed my original picks. It was like 14 hours before the games today. You're making a big deal out of nothing.

Holy fuck dude. Don't even tell me about it. I have 3 fantasy leagues plus this pick em league, not to mention e-mails going back to like 2005. I talked to customer service for like 30 minutes last night (but it wasn't even Yahoo's customer service cause apparently a massive company only has customer service Monday-Friday). I don't know what to tell you. Somehow someone got into my account and everything is fucked.
i wouldn't have as big of a prob with it if the picks were the same, but they aren't...every game is at least one point off, and points are critical in this league, as I am only 5 behind you...

Re: NFL Pick Em Contest « Message sent Yesterday at 11:46pm » Hey dude. So apparently my Yahoo account has been completely wiped out and/or hacked. I just talked to customer support and all my e-mails are gone and everything is just vanished.
Anywho, I created another account and joined your league as glennron dos. I figure we'll just add the points together for my two accounts then? Hopefully that'll work out. Let me know what you think.
Re: NFL Pick Em Contest « Message sent Yesterday at 11:49pm » I just realized I don't even remember if I made any other picks under glennron other than the Dolphins/Bills. I'll just say my final score will be 800 (what I'm at now) plus whatever glennron dos has. So whatever other picks I made under glennron won't count. Sorry for the confusion hah.
I'm not really sure what else you want me to do. I told him last night to use my second picks because I couldn't remember if I made my picks on the first account. It's literally the exact same thing as if I just happened to change my picks last night on my original account.
if your original account is working, can't you just stick with that?
It's not. I made those picks earlier this week but couldn't remember if I had made them, which is why I told pmo to use my picks from glennron dos (sans the Bills/Dolphins game) My original account is nonexistent. I'm not sure how to make this more clear.
hey now. don't be sassy with me, i'm not accusing foul play just asking out what went down. its just fantasy football friend, not the end of the world.

Sorry, I wasn't trying to be a dick. I know you're not accusing me, but apparently seth thinks something shady is going on. I'm just trying to clearly convey what happened to let everyone know I'm not trying to pull anything.
Alright. First of all seth, you need to chill out. Who cares if glennron has two accounts, it doesn't give him a better chance to win.
glennron, from now on, even if you get your original account back up, keep making picks with your second account. We will add those points to your original account score.
And obviously the picks glennron made with his original account will be null and void for this week. Any points gained be glennron dos will be added on to his point total of 800, the score he had after the bills/phins game.

Again, I told pmo 12+ hours before the start of today's games to use my second account's picks. What is wrong with this? It's just the same as if I were to change my original picks 12+ hours before the start of the game. You're acting as if I said "Hey, just take the better of my two picks" which isn't the case whatsoever.
I would be beating glenron's original picks, but since he has 2 teams, his 2nd team is beating me...see, they're not the same picks...
You can adjust your picks up until gametime. It's the same thing. His other picks for this week don't count because they were adjusted by his second account.

This is a non-issue. Obviously the second pick set could have been worse than the first pick set. And glennron said to take the second set over the first because he couldn't even see what he had done before his account got blown away. It's not like he all-of-a-sudden got inside information on who to pick with the second set.
it doesn't matter as long as he only uses one team and sticks with it throughout the rest of the time b/c its not like you can change your picks after the games start no matter how many accounts you have.
i could be complaining about this too b/c i'm in the running for first but i know glenn is not a shady dude. i was just confused b/c he was saying he didn't make any picks but they were showing up on my screen.
