itrainmonkeys choose what format you want your stuff labeled in, and try it out only a couple files. That is what's nice, you don't have to apply it to all of your library at once. but its great for customizing your organization. i've spent an inordinate amount of time organizing all my stuff, i am glad to help.

Apologies if this is part of the text you posted on the previous page ( I'll be reading that in full later) but am I able to have Media Monkey copy files that I add to the library so that they are in the folder that I want (but the original files remain in-tact in their original location)?
I used this as a way of having a few backups. Like....if I download an album I'll have it saved in a downloads folder but when I add it to my media player I want the files that go in there to be stored in the folder that has all my other library items.
Might sound weird/confusing but it's how I got used to things with iTune.

yes, it allows that. there is an option when you are auto-organizing to either copy or move the files into the main library/"organized" folder. the only caveat with this is if the downloaded tunes have misinformation, then that misinformation will be used to "organize" that folder. eg: if you download "mdest mouse" it will organize it as "mdest mouse."
OR, you can copy/paste the newly downloaded album into your library folder, import the files into media monkey library, and double check/edit all the track/album info. once it is correct and the way you want it, you can then auto-organize just those newly added tracks and it will move/rename the files according to your scheme and (if you check mark the option) delete the empty folders.

Thanks for the help. It's greatly appreciated. I'm someone who really likes to keep his music library organized. I like viewing things as albums and used to hate putting stuff on my ipods and then seeing a million different artists for one album (this happens a lot more with rap releases that feature more guests and collaborations).
It's a lot of work but it's so satisfying when things look clean and organized. I need artwork for all my albums and clean artist listings. Nothing bugs me more than seeing two separate artists like "The White Stripes" and "white stripes". That shit has got to go.

Got a few questions while I was messing around with MM today snowmanomura
1.) How come no artwork show up on my iPod even though they appear in mediamonkey? I'm not too good/familiar with tagging and artwork on files when not using iTunes.
2.) How can I organize my podcasts? I've re-subscribed to some of the ones I want to keep but I guess the podcasts didn't keep great records when tagging or something because some of them are all out of order and there's no simple way to sort it by track or episode # like an album. I'm kind of lost here and do a lot with podcasts so need to try and figure this out.

1. No idea. I haven't had this issue before. One thing that it could be is if there is a .jpg file that is associated with the album within the media monkey software, rather than that .jpg being part of the file's metadata. I just went and quickly looked through my ipod and the only stuff that doesn't have artwork is also missing artwork in media monkey itself.
2. Do you subscribe to the podcasts through media monkey? or download them and then import them into media monkey? I have MM download my podcasts for me, and haven't had issues with it. I don't listen to a lot of podcasts, but all of my Umphrey's, Marc Maron, Radiolab, and Wait Wait don't tell me podcasts are automatically downloaded and sorted via MM.

1.) Hmmm....damn. That's a biggie for me as I really like having the artwork on my devices.
2.) Most of the podcasts were old files that were downloaded in iTunes and then imported to MediaMonkey but in mediamonkey the info for them are all messed up. Like some have different artists or titles or things like that. I tried to delete and re-subscribe to one podcast and that may work but not sure if it will help on all my older files. I have some podcasts that have a few hundred episodes and it would be annoying to download them all again but I'd do it if it came down to it.
Going to have to look into these things a bit more. I enjoy MediaMonkey so far for listening but there's a few things that I know with iTunes that are being problematic here. Going to have to mess around a bit more before making a final decision on what to do. Thanks

Thinking i'm going to go back to iTunes. Got some time this weekend and may take a last crack at MediaMonkey but I'm going to try to make a decision soon on which one to use from now on. May keep Media Monkey around cuz it's good for finding files everywhere but I guess I just know iTunes much better and will work on re-doing my library in there (and regularly back it up...so I don't lose all my stuff like I just did).
iTunes match sounds great but I don't know how many songs I currently have and I know there's a limit with iTunes match (25,000 songs).
