Yes, Thats the one. Several ducks are roosting in it right now, and although we had a really bad drought this year I do not remember it completly drying up. Actually, Ive never seen it completely dry up. Alas, there will still be plenty of snakes and snapping turtles in it come June. And Catfish have been known to live in just mud or under ground in a suspended type animation for long periods of time waiting for the rains to come.

So does that mean no man-eating catfish?
I would guess if there was no water in it last year - that poor catfish is dead
There is plenty of water in the pond now. I just drove by it yesterday. Maybe the only way we will ever truly know if the massive beast still exists is if someone gets in the pond...dives to the bottom...and feels around for the whiskers of the legend. Any Volunteers? MMMHHHAAA!!

Your taking about that pond that is there sometimes and isnt. It didnt even have water in it last year due to the drought......
But yeah, I know the one your meaning....
I'm 100% positive it was there last year. I remember coming across it while cleaning with Clean Vibes. If I remember correctly, there was some trees blocking it from plain view, but when you get in closer you can see it. I believe it was on the opposite side of the family camping area. A bunch of us were going to jump in it after our work was done. Then we got drunk and forgot about it. Thanks for the warning.
I know for a fact that it was dry in 2002 because I remember seeing people camped in it and thinking if it rains they are screwed!
I dont pay too much attention to that pond because it is abscurred from view. I thought you were talking about Ed Hollands pond at first. Actually there are two ponds right there, one on each side of the main entrance. The one on the right is usually drier than the one onthe left...

No No Meg....it's a magic giant killer catfish....it lives a little bit in all of us.
You could not fathom the powers of a Tennessee Mudcat, but what will live in me are the fears of snapping turtles and cotton mouths should I jump in and claymore mines should I jump out. Willie Nelson will know what to do.
Of course there are snakes at the farm...there are snakes all over here in TN. But as long as you follow the man's advice and stay away from the pond, I think you will be fine. I don't think you all have to worry much about putting your tent on snake hole though. I'm pretty sure that any snake in the vicinity of Bonnaroo is throughly tramatized by all the vibrations from 80K people, 35K cars (at least), and over 100 music acts, not to mention any stray snacks they might run across. Man, I bet them are some freaked out dudes!

Even more reason to steer clear of that pond. The smarter animals might be a little more concentrated in the pond because we take over their homes and any body of water is a good place to hide from predators that have legs.

screw 72 lb catfish...
Yes. They do exsist, and the warmer the climate is the longer and more abundant the feeding will be thus the larger the fish. I bet the fish above was caught in a big river where the percentage of catching prey always remains high.
We have a lake at our park that had goldfish and catchfish. back when I was a kid you couldnt fish it. As time went on the goldfish disappear and was replaced with giant catfish. Now it's fished cause they started attacking the waterfowl in the lake

Last year we camped in Rocky Balboa. We were right on the edge of a small patch of woods, there was a small pond in the middle of the woods. I was quite dry but we saw a snake on thurs afternoon chiling out by the waters edge, just another quick question, Are you still having dry conditions in Manchester ?

Not drought like, but we could definetly use more. I think we are actually a little ahead of normal precipitation for this time of the year. This summer was bad. I dont think we got any signifigant rain totals from June to October. One of our lakes (Normandy) almost dried up. All the corn died. No one had green grass it was all brown and crunchy. It was the worst drought I have ever been through and many old timers would say the same. It's better now though. Thanks for asking.
*i like coconuts, you can break them open they smell like ladies lyin in the sun** *Hell I don't even know where I am** *for now I must sit here and ponder the yonder: The herbivores did well cause their food didn't never run** *We listen, if it feels good We shake** *You made a big impression for a girl of your size, Now I can't get by without you and your big brown eyes.**

We've had a wet winter but the lakes and rivers are still a bit low from last year's drought. Here's to hoping we have a real rainy season like normal this year.

Normandy Lake, which is in Coffee County, was so low at points the bottom was completly dry. We have a bridge with a catwalk on it and that part of the lake was really bad. Someone took an old mail box and stuck it up on a flat that was in the center of the lake.
