Duckie and Andie originally ended up together instead of Blane and Andie. Execs at the studio also didn’t particularly like the original, concerned that it suggested classism to not allow Andie to end up with Blane. The final ending was shot in one day and Andrew McCarthy had to wear a wig because he had already started a stage role that required short hair. Even the original song was changed and OMD wrote and recorded “If You Leave” in 24 hours.
Paramount has never been able to locate the original footage, apparently.

If you have never seen this movie, I suggest you keep it that way. I thought with Robards and Stanton it would an alright film. One of the dumbest things I’ve ever seen. Gonna look for something else to watch.
