Alpine Meadows merged with the ski resort on the other side of the mountain. The now larger ski resort had multiple avalanches last week that killed a person.

There are a lot of terrible choices in that movie but it's not the next The Room.
If it came out pre-MCU, in the *era* (2003?) that it's set, it would have worked better for people, I think. It kind of embraced early 2000s convention in a way that I think you could generously interpret as homage.
