This was THE determining factor for me in deciding to re-do Voodoo this year, or dive into Moogfest.
Moog wins.
I liked Green Day when they sang about boogers, and being a teen, when i was a teen. But I have no interest in hanging around for their political rally (see: concert) in my old age. I believe in changing as a band over the course of time is a good thing, and I believe that incorporating beliefs into your music as an artist is tantamount to continuing being a relevant artist... I just personally think that Green Day was best at punkish, bitchy, teen angst than they are at ballads and not-so-cleverly-disguised innuendos/suggestions about world goings-ons. And I prefer for myself, the former. If I wanted to see a band jabber on about the presidential election in between every song, I'd go see Built to Spill. Oh wait, I did.

Aw man I'm seeing them for the first time in just a few weeks.
I will say I saw Green Day as part of the Pop Disaster Tour in 8th grade for my first ever concert sans parents and it kicked all sorts of ass. But that was also A)Before I turned 15, B) Before their music started getting realll sh*tty.
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.

I think BtS purposely tours in election years. That's when I saw them, 2008. I felt like my beer purchases were wasted. It's hard to get a concert buzz on when every word that isn't a lyric is rhetoric for a political party. ...outside of that, the music was good. ... maybe put your earplugs in BETWEEN songs, as opposed to DURING songs.
And yeah - listening to Green day when I was 14 was a learning experience. Blasting "She" on my dual deck/CD boombox, in my pastel colored 8th grader bedroom? I was so cool. And I knew it was good because my parents hated it. And I felt like the music sounded, you know? After Insomniac... bleh.
If they came to the Farm, it wouldnt deter me getting a ticket - I'd just be camped out on a rail somewhere else waiting for LN to start.

When I heard they were putting out three albums at once my immediate thought was "figures." They're at the point in their careers when they seem to be bending over backwards trying to make each album more bloated than the last.
Aw man I'm seeing them for the first time in just a few weeks.

I asked my mom what a whore was when I was 6 because of the line in "Basket Case." Believe it or not I don't think she gave me a straight answer.

They should curate their own stage... call it "Shitty Emo Music That Only Teenage Girls Like"
Lineup: Green Day, The Offspring, Good Charlotte, Blink 182, Sum 41, My Chemical Romance
Also, just a side note, if you call Green Day, or any of the music listed above "Punk" or "Punk Rock", I will beat you into the ground with a framing hammer.

I'm a mere lad of 23, but I wouldn't have a problem with Green Day. They aren't my first choice, but I'd prefer them over Muse or Coldplay in a heartbeat. As far as recent headliners, they're better than Kings of Leon, Widespread Panic and surely better than that God-Awful Eminem performance.
I realize the Bonnaroo slogan should not be "We could do worse." but Green Day isn't exactly scraping the bottom of the barrel. (That was WSP 2008.)

First of all YOU KIDS...GET OFF MY LAWN.
Second if Greenday plays a headlining slot on Friday that automatically means that Blues Traveler should close on Sunday, so I'll finally get to check out the comedy/movie/anything-else-but-greenday or Blues Traveler shows and maybe leave a bit early on Sunday. Oddly enough I'm almost ok with this but for all the wrong reasons.
