I was in a similar mindset as dcbee the first couple days where I was annoyed by the people trying to bond with me, tease me, freak me out. Then when I got into the grove I laughed at them or walked away and we were all cool.
But yeah the people who try to f*ck with others and ruin their moment SUCK. My husband's friend is like that... this holier than thou when he's the sober dude, but then gets mad when we mess with him when he's messed up.
but if random people didnt come up to me and do random things - it wouldn't be bonnaroo.
someone came up to me last year and said my hat looked soft - could he touch it. and who am i to deprive him of the pleasure of touching my hat
Yeah...it's only random if it happens maybe once or twice. Too many times and it's a pattern.
Hey....were you wearing a purple, fuzzy hatt and waiting in line for ice when that happened? Because I asked a guy if I could touch his purple, fuzzy hat. That would be hillarious if it was you.
wow that never happened to me.... honestly, i thought there would be a lot more blinkies and glowies than i actually saw. i mean, i saw a lot.. but it didnt even cross my mind as excessive or anything like that.

I've honestly never had that happen to me. I've played with them, and I've watched them, but I've never had someone come up and stick lights in my face at Bonnaroo. Weird.

That's so weird...every day I walked into CenterRoo w/ a Solo cup full of Crown held in my teeth, and never got a second glance from security! Maybe they're less picky w/ unmarked cups?

haha one time my friend and I went into centeroo to buy some lemonade as a feel-better gift for another friend who was in the med tent, and we got one for ourselves too...so as we were walking back out of centeroo with our two clear cups full of what was clearly lemonade, one of the security guys was chilling nearby and said "whaddya got in those CUPS, ladies?" We sort of slowed down and said "uh...lemonade.....?" We kinda just kept walking and he didn't say anything else, but we had no idea if he was just messing with us or if it actually mattered.

a little "game" i fell for last year:
this group that had a campsite near one of the main roads had a pretty hilarious trick up their sleeves. they tied fishing line to a bunch of glow sticks/bracelets/necklaces. as a group of unsuspecting rooers walked by they would throw the tied up glowies towards them in the grass. when they rushed towards them they would pull them back. pretty funny how long it took some ppl (myself included) to figure out what was going on.
in the kind spirit of bonnaroo they did give out free glowies as a parting gift for those who played along. i thought this was pretty clever and amusing... fine entertainment

They did us one better in '06. These people on the way back to our tent would leave a stick out in the grass, with a fishing line tied to it, and when you'd walk up to it, you'd reach down to pick it up, only to have them jerk it away from you. Scared the living daylights out of a couple of us. Great times.
Last year, on Sunday, after Widespread me and my friend Lori were still experiencing the "energy" from the weekend and we set up a glowstick attack....
We would hide behind our tents and wait for unsuspecting people to walk by and throw like 50 glowsticks in the air and they'd shower down on them... it was hilarious.
The thing is... we were behind a chain link fence so if we wanted to do it again the victims would have to gather our glowies for us and give them back to us through the fence... and you know what? ....They did... every single time.

About the blinkies...
I think a lot of people are just really excited. They are probably have a really good time and in their state of mind, they are probably hoping to make your experience better, too.
just shrug it off and offer a hug or something.
I have never had anything like that happen to me personally but I did acquire some stuff last year. At the Lips show I ended up with a sphere (6 inches in diameter) composed of glowsticks. I pretty much kept that shoved in my own face all night...lol.

the one thing that bothered me? i went out at night to use a port a potty. the one i found would not lock. no big deal. well, in the middle of peeing, a guy opened the door. i just said 'whoa, sorry, someone's in here'. he then slammed the door shut and yelled "then lock the f**cking door, b*tch!!!"
that pretty much pissed me off to no end, and my guy buddy overheard this and had to be talked out of beating the piss out of the rude preppy jerk.

O.K I'm jumping on a soapbox for a minute you know what botherd me? So many people were quacking slobs.There was so much garbage and I understand that the pure size of the event makes this impossible to improve. What was bad was seeing people finish eating at a picinic table and getting up and leaving everything right at the table. I know that there are volunteers for recycling but its not like your mothers there to clean up after you. This was the only thing that bothered me.The dust was bad but I could tolerate it, Glow sticks I could handle, I even had someone puke on my leg during the end of white stripes it was laughable, but the fact that people couldn't do more to take care of the place got to me. I could go on but I'm sure its getting boring so I will stop my ranting Everything else is great. see you in june
