I did this in 2011, figured I'd bring it back this year during this downtime. LEGGO!
RULES -Compile a list of 25 bands that you are certain will be at Bonnaroo next year. This is not a wishlist, this is a prediction. -You must include 3 headliners, and inform me of which bands you think will headline. Dates and times do not matter, just the names of the headliners. A headliner = a top 3 billed band. -Each headliner will be worth 3 points, the other 22 acts will be worth 1 point each. If a band that you predicted to be undercard ends up being a headliner, you will receive only 1 point for that band. A band that you predicted to headline that appears on the lineup as a non-headliner will also be worth 1 point. -If a band is confirmed before the deadline, they will not be eligible for the pool, unless you submitted your lineup before said act was confirmed. A band is only considered confirmed if the act themselves have publicly announced a Bonnaroo date. -The winner will be decided the day the initial lineup is announced. Late additions do not count. -In the event of a tie, whoever submitted their lineup earlier will win.
SUBMITTING -The deadline is Thanksgiving (Thursday, Nov. 25) at 11:59 PM. This is to ensure that as few rumored/confirmed acts are leaked as possible. You may begin submitting whenever you like. -DO NOT POST YOUR LINEUP IN THIS THREAD. E-mail it to roopool13@yahoo.com. This will make it more fun as it will give us more unique lineups and prevent them from all looking the same after a few have been submitted. -Make sure to include your forum name in the e-mail so I know who is who. -You can resubmit your lineup as many times as you wish, but keep in mind: a.) I would prefer you don't take advantage of this and submit fewer rather than more as it makes it easier on me and b.) By submitting a new lineup you are giving up your spot in a potential tiebreaker. The earlier the lineup, the better. -Once the deadline passes, you may publish your lineup in this thread or I will post them. -I will update this post with the list of participants as I get your guys' submissions. -I will be submitting my lineup to a trustworthy board member for proof (nodepression, you cool with this?).
Artist Specifications -All forms of Dave Matthews count as one act. -Ben Harper solo, w/ Relentless7 or w/ Innocent Criminals count as one. Fistful of Mercy is separate. -All forms of the Phil Lesh and Bob Weir count as one (The Dead, Furthur, etc.). A solo act from either (Phil Lesh & Friends, RatDog) would need to be specified. -All forms of Bela Fleck count as one. -Kanye West and G.O.O.D. Music are separate acts. -Jay-Z/Kanye West individually do not count as Watch the Throne. Must be specified. -Phish and Trey Anastasio Band are separate acts. -Gov't Mule and Warren Haynes Band are separate acts. -The Allman Brothers Band and Gregg Allman are separate acts. -Primus and Les Claypool are separate acts. -OutKast and Big Boi are separate acts. -Odd Future and Frank Ocean are separate acts. -A$AP Mob and A$AP Rocky are separate acts.
PRIZE -TBA. (We had 55 people participate in 2011. Maybe if everyone submitted $5 along with their prediction we could pitch in for a GA ticket to the winner?)

Good point. I copied the list of artist specifications that I used in 2011 so it could definitely use some updating.
I think Dave & Friends or Dave Matthews Band should count as the same. If you put Dave Matthews down and either of those two are there I think you should get the points. Thoughts?

So, should we go ahead and agree that The Polyphonic Spree is ineligible. Even if they backpedaled and hinted that it might have been more of a hopeful blueprint than a set-in-stone plan?
If I submit every member of G.O.O.D Music (Kanye, Cyhi, Cudi, Pusha, Q-Tip, Common, Sean, 2 Chainz, Teyana Taylor, Travi$ Scott, John Legend, Mos Def) as seperate acts, but G.O.O.D. Music headlines do I get 3 points for all of them?
This is just an idea, but maybe if you have "Warren Haynes" as an act and any form of his self is on the lineup you get a half point?
Like if you had Kanye West on your list, but it turns out to be "Kanye West presents: G.O.O.D. Music" (assuming Kanye is there), you get the 1/2 point for at least predicting the right person would be there, but not the right form.
But if not I'm perfectly fine with the current setup.
You've covered a lot of things that could be considered murky, but going down this road could prove to be confusing and murky. What's set sounds great, and there may be some other things that pop up. IMO, making a blanket policy for all the rest would be smart. For example, if (lead person) from (band x) then we vote somehow. Or someone (or some group of people) agrees to be judge and their say is final. Just a suggestion to avoid what seems inevitable.
^ That does bring up a good point. Kanye West and G.O.O.D. Music should be separate acts.
I really hope this is just a precaution and it doesn't really have a chance of happening. I was not impressed with the G.O.O.D. Music show at Made In America. Jay Z? Great. Watch The Throne? Cool. Kanye? Sure. G.O.O.D. Music? No Thanks.
Depending on the number of people a top 3 (50%,30,20) or top 4 (50,25,15,10) payout would be the best way to go instead of a winner take all. $5 entry sounds good though
I'd rather have it be for a prize like a GA ticket instead of money. But that's just me. I wouldn't want to win money and use it on something silly like bills.

yea but this way the 2nd place winner wouldnt be butthurt about losing by 1 point

Losing's losing. No one is forcing people to take part in this.

When I did this before I used the same method and nothing ended up being an issue. Most of them are pretty obvious when compared to the rest of the examples we have. If anyone has a question regarding specificity when they submit their lineup just ask it here and we'll figure it out.
I think the tiebreaker should be whoever had the highest billed artists.
We actually did the lowest-billed artists the first time I ran this, because I think it's more impressive to call some of the more obscure artists than it is the ones that are doing huge tours that everyone expects to be there. Either way, I think I'm gonna stick with the method we have now because it encourages people to participate earlier rather than later, which makes it more fun, and encourages people to submit as few lineups as possible which makes it a lot easier on me.

Flanzo and Kev-Bot covered this one. Would rather not play for money, a prize would be better, and if ya lose ya lose. It will probably come down to 1 point but if that's the case you should have picked better artists A ticket is still valuable even if you already have yours. Can sell it for face value rendering your ticket free, or bring a friend that might not have been able to go otherwise for cheap!
Not like I have any worries, but didn't you have a rule where you had to have at least 200 posts on the board to enter last year? Does that still apply?
