Whomever, I think it was Horn, said that we need thicker skin is correct. I mean as a society, not just here. I know it's hard, but I just believe we'd all be better off if we didn't care what other people think about us. How we look, what we eat, what God we believe in, what music we listen to. Maybe it's "easy for me to say" because I'm older and completely comfortable in my own skin, but I just watch people who delight in their own likes and dislikes without delighting in disliking other people's opinions seem to have the more relaxed, happy lives.
"Hipster" is another term like "nerd" or "fatso" or "retard" that are used to create bias and marginalize others so we feel better about ourselves. I love all kinds of music, including pop. Look, I love Men Without Hats, and could care less if I'm the only one here who does. It makes me happy - and someone making fun of me for that, ah - I just move past it, knowing that the next time I hear some wild ass bizarre, Chilean prog rock, I can also come here and someone else will likely share in my love of it.

Instead of entirely ignoring the content of my argument and just slurring out "lol your still a hipster whatev", maybe you could actually attempt to refute it. I acknowledge and appreciate that you're not trying to attack my personal character, but I can't take you seriously when you dodge the content of what I'm trying to saying.
In an effort not to muck up this thread, I want to invite you to message me. I would genuinely like to understand the way you think.
It wasn't a serious statement. I don't think you're a hipster because I don't know who you are. I missed the memo where "hipster" became the new "retarded," and people find it offensive and demeaning. My apologies.

It's interesting that people are just assuming that the lineup will drop on the 12th. I wouldn't be surprised in any way if it doesn't come until the 19th.

The 12th makes the most sense, but yes, there's no guarantee.

I think that it seems like the lineup usually falls on the Tuesday after the Grammys. That may not be 100% accurate and it may not be related but that's why I think it'll be the 12th.
Edit: As it turns out that "trend" has only been in place for the last two years.
Double Edit: At least I was remembering correctly about the Tuesday thing (09-12). 08 may have been at midnight on Tuesday, though, so that could be why it's shown as Wednesday. Wasn't that the year of the Lez Zeppelin/NME clusterfuck?

Can a mod get a filter for the word hipster?
Only 10 days away now...
Seriously? That's your takeaway? Wow. Let me be clear - it's not the word it's how the word is used. Sorry you didn't understand the memo.
Suffice it to say, no one self-identifies as a hipster; the term is always applied to an Other, to separate the authentic Us from the inauthentic, “ironic” Them."
I'm not going to get in this whole semantics argument about the term hipster, but this statement just isn't true in my experience. I know plenty of self-identifying hipsters.
That being said, who gives a quack. Do what makes you happy. Such is the spirit of Bonnaroo. /twocents
Hipsters who say they are hipsters, are not real hipsters. Real hipsters call them selves something completely different, but you've probably never heard of it.
Really? Do they begrudgingly admit it, or are they proud of it somehow?
Proud, I guess? I mean it's not like I go around asking people if they are hispters, and they're saying "Oh...well I didn't think anyone knew, I don't like to talk about it." I don't qualify it as something you have to "admit" to being? It's just been freely stated.
And no, I'm not talking about someone trying to be ironic by calling themselves a hipster just because they use instagram.

Man, I really really hope Paul Mccartney isn't the big get this year. I'm sure a bunch of people here would disagree with me, but I find his solo material just plain boring. And I love the beatles. Especially if getting him means reducing the quality of the rest of the line up. If we're talking classics, I would rather see The rolling stones(even though they're pushing 100 and I would never pay to see them by themselves unless it's 1985 or earlier), Prince, or Santana any day of the week.
I see a lot of WSP talk as well. Not too excited about them either. Paul and WSP being 2 of the 3 headliners would be a big disappointment for me. We would need something like Daft Punk or an Outkast reunion to really get me excited about the headliners this year if we're going with the first two.
I'm crossing my fingers for a stacked undercard. I'm already extremely excited about Pretty Lights, Grizzly Bear, Passion Pit, A$ap, and possibly(hopefully) Wu-Tang Clan. Throw in some Flying Lotus, maybe an Animal Collective here or a Punch Brothers there and I'll be set.
Who am I kidding though, I'll probably be heading to the farm no matter what the line up looks like.
