I dont understand why people are so dead set on Macca and the rolling stones not being able to headline in the same year. they are not THAT expensive people! i'm sure its not too far off from last year with Phish/RHCP/Radiohead.

They could definitely swing both... which would go to all the rumors of heavy EDM on the undercard or an EDM stage. Macca and the Stones would bring a much older crowd, and they would need to do something to balance it out.

Gotta give them credit for trying. Did they go with the "we got one member of Collective Soul, why not take a shot at the Stones??" line of thought?
Basically it was, "we got the money to afford someone worthwhile this year! What? they've already been booked? Lets go with plan b. Call Brandy."
For real though I'm not sure. They had a bunch of people booked before I even started. They stuck me on writing sponsorship proposals and booking for Faith & Family night. If anyone is interested we got The Newsboys for June 11th. Faith & Family night tickets are only $10! anyone? no. Worth a shot.
BAHAHAHA! You have to understand that people who work in industry know a lot of people. This industry is all about who you know. All these people get together a couple times a year at IMF. Its really not as far fetched as your making it sound.

Wow dude, someone is really jerking your chain. It's pretty much common knowledge that the United Festival Front holds their secret meetings in the Freemason crypt in the basement of the dry-cleaner on W. 53rd St.

This has been the most entertaining thing on here in a while. At least since everyone freaked out that WSP is "a sure thing" to close Sunday and Jess beer bet a dozen people that is was definitely gonna happen.

No way we get Macca & Stones in the same year. Zeppelin closing? Please pass the bath salts.
Idk. Think about how insanely successful the fest would be this year if they did. It would bring in way more VIP sales, more beer sales and an older more affluent crowd with more disposable income. It would be wildly successful. And I think Phi may be right with Macca/stones not being that much more than Radiohead RHCP and Phish. So they sign Furthur or phil and friends on the cheap and call it a day. I'm in.
But if Bonnaroo booked Paul McCartney AND The Rolling Stones, how will they afford Daft Punk?
Daft Punk is playing for free. By the way, karosko, you have a... meeting at a 35ft RV in the artist area on Saturday. Take a shower before you go. Wear silk boxers.
just heard back from the Dismemberment Plan over Facebook in response to a message i sent asking them if they planned on being at Bonnaroo and/or Lollapalooza this Summer:
"No plans for either one at this point, but we're getting closer on finishing the writing part of a new record. Hopefully recording will follow soon. - Eric"
so make out of that what you will.

Inforoo insanity doesn't seem as bad this year. When insider drops her morsels and says ill be back soon with more, it gets sideways around here. Maybe she just drops it all at once this year. What's the percent chance she's back this year? I'm thinking 25%.
The other thing is, why would a small festival like Riverbend be going after an act like The Rolling Stones? Seems highly implausible.
We've shared a few artists with Bonnaroo in that past. The Beach Boys for example. They were at Riverbend in 2011. What artist we seek depend upon the amount of sponsorships we receive. This year we had over $2 million in sponsorships really early. So we have been able to go after bigger artists.
I can't believe you all let him get away with this. Riverbend didn't get the true Beach Boys. They got the sans Brian Wilson county fair/Full House version.

a little late to this, but still:

Starting to embrace the lineup day surprise. I'll certainly enjoy some more artist direct confirmations. I do appreciate what gabfrab's done for this thread the last couple of years, even if the gig is up.
