seriously hated Crean saying that today's game was a road environment and that Butler had too many calls go their way. So aggressively stupidly blatantly not true, on both accounts. Still love this team though.
Hey everyone East of the Rockies. Arizona is for real
I think from watching the game, even though they pulled away and beat Clemson pretty handily, they are not that much better. Arizona is a good team, not a great team and I don't see them making it very far in the tourney. Clemson turned up the defense and zona really struggled shooting and Clemson blocked 12 shots! The problem was Clemson could not recover any of those blocked shots, they went right back to Arizona and also Clemson just struggled to grab a rebound. Those things and missed freethrows were the difference in the game. Also Clemson is not very strong offensively, yet we had 3 guys that could take zona to the hole any time they wanted to, just couldn't get enough shots to actually fall. Maybe it was just an off night for Arizona, but it made me feel like they will really struggle against teams that are much better than Clemson.
I'm guessing you didn't watch the game last night?
They beat a very, very good Florida
I didn't see it but I know beating Florida is an impressive win. I'm just finally getting around to commenting on what I saw against Clemson. This comment from ESPN sums up the game against Clemson "And when it counted most, the Gators couldn't hold onto the ball or make a free throw". so Arizona is good but they are also lucky.
Yes. You can make the argument Florida played better for most of the game but at the end it was Arizona that one. Florida couldn't hold on to the ball because Nick Johnson could just take it from them and we started making all our shots when it counted.
There is a lot of basketball to be played, but I think as the team gets more familiar with itself and continues to improve we are going to become a very dangerous team.
Florida is a great team that plays tremendous defense. Beating them will be huge for Arizona's RPI and for momentum in general moving forward.
And I don't get what you're saying about their win against Clemson, or why you're trying to take away from it. Arizona went up big early then blew the lead, but didn't let the game spin out of control before regaining control and pulling away. To me, that says they are clearly the better team given the game took place in Clemson.

oh no doubt they're better than Clemson. but Clemson could have won that game. I was just saying from what I saw in person Arizona didn't strike me as an elite team. But like I said to bacon, zona could have easily been loafing it against Clemson, because who the fuck is Clemson? and they did step up and pull away at the end.

Beating Florida is a great win. Although, I have no idea why Billy Donovan didn't call his last timeout when Florida had to ball with 7 seconds left. Probably wanted to use the situation as a learning experience.
That has been a big discussion amongst Arizona fans the last 2 days. Last year we were in a similar situation and no timeout was called and they were unable to get a good shot off. Then in this game we had the ball with 21 secs left and made the shot with no time out. Florida doesn't take the timeout either and misses.
Sean Miller talked about it after that game last season and the Florida game. His philosophy is that his players already know what they are supposed to because they practice these situations quiet a bit and he had complete faith in them to make the right play and calling the timeout only gives the defense a better chance to get set up.
I would also add that Florida turned over the ball 3 times on in-bound passes in the last 2 minuets. The last thing they wanted to do is have to try to get the ball in play again.
No one ever goes to the Diamondhead Classic. The most exciting thing that every happened in the stands there was that fight between to Miss St. players a year or two ago

I've never been an Arizona fan going back to the Lute Olson days, but I'm not sure it's as bad as people thinking. It's just about impossible to tell if the ball is still on his finger tips when looking at the clock above the backboard, though the clock on the bottom right of the screen clearly still has time when it's out. Man.
Edit: But if that's not the definition of inconclusive, I don't know what is. BS to overturn it.

IU will be fine. I predict at least Final Four this year as long as they don't have to play Wisconsin again. I never realized how good Bo Ryan could coach til about 3 years ago. IU has a solid team this year.
My team Kentucky will be lucky to make the tourny this year. Bad group of players who are taking too long to buy in the "team first not me first" system.

Lousiville is a really good team, but they also strike me as a team that, if they run into a bad matchup, could make an early exit. But that goes for most teams, I suppose. Its really hard to predict how far teams will go until the actual bracket is revealed. I'm hoping the Blue Devils can overcome Ryan Kelly's injury. Their biggest weakness was their lack of a bench, and it will be truly tested now.
