I seem have a good general amount of concert Karma. I have multiple setlists, guitar picks, autographs, and drumsticks that I have acquired by being a mere participant at shows.
I also a couple noteworthy stories:
I was being a rail warrior for Rise Against at a fest out here called Epicenter. Someone on stage had taunted the crowd with a backstage pass, and threw it out to us. It happened to land right near me, and needless to say before I know it, I was taking my shoelace off so I could tie that around my neck and blend in. I saw Rise Against from the side of the stage right next to their guitar tech. T'was epic.
Notable special dear to my heart shows: - Roger Waters the Wall (19th row floor. epic) - RATM benefit concert at the Hollywood Palladium (small venue) - Radiohead front row @ Coachella, and pit @ Bonnaroo.
It truly is a blessing to be filled with so many fond happy memories.
I have lots of good concert memories. The plus side to being older is that I was enjoying cool stuff while most of you weren't even born.
Here are a few favorites - not all inclusive: the Grateful Dead at the Fox Theatre The Allman Brothers in the park on any given Sunday growing up in Macon Partying with members of ABB on a few occasions backstage with Atlanta Rhythm Section many times
one of my most treasured memories, though, was having the honor to take care of the Godfather of Soul 2 days before he died as his nurse. He was very nice. I was surprised by how short he was, but that hair was cotton-candy soft.
Oh yeah, couldn't forget to include Stevie Ray Vaughan at the Fox Theatre on New Years Eve...I'm thinking it was the early 90s.
And a friend of mine in a jazz quartet opened up for Dave Brubeck once. I got to go along and see that and shook hands with a legend. Why was this not documented on film? My biggest regret.

I've been meaning to write out the entire day as it was so surreal hanging out with yer favorite band and their families on the first night of the tour. Of course, I prepped all their fave dishes and spared no expense. They were very appreciative and pretty blown away by the spread. I told them they just got lucky finding a caterer/mega-fan. I also offered to quit my job and cook the entire tour out of my own pocket. Gave me crew passes which I used to get some friends backstage all night. Jim loved the creme brulee. I think he had three.

Radiohead - 2003 - SkyDome (Sears Theatre) - Toronto, ON
This was my second time seeing Radiohead and Thom Yorke did something that I have never forgotten to this day. The band was in the middle of playing Myxomatosis when a fan passed out in the crowd. Thom saw this happen and brought the show to a halt. He pointed the kid out to the medics, they pulled him out of the crowd and Thom and the band jumped right back into the song as if nothing had ever happened. In a nutshell, it showed the class and professionalism of one of the best bands on the planet!
I found a full video of the incident on line....enjoy!
I was thinking, "oh, this will be a great one to tell in this thread" then I see you beat me too it. This was a truly amazing moment!

I went to see umphreys back in 03 or 04 at blue cats in knoxville one night with some friends. I'd never heard of them before and we all thought they were pretty good, so we start sending shots up to the stage. They gave us a shout out during the show and proceeded to close the bar with them and stayed there drinking til around 4 or 5 in the morning.
Met keller a couple times. Even got to drink some beers with him during a disco biscuits show in jamaica (Caribbean holidaze 07). That same fest umphreys was out on the beach partying with everyone and stasik was wearing the borat bathing suit on the beach and then did a set with the thing on later that night.
After eoto in Chattanooga last year jason hann came to this shizzy club raw (only place with edm regularly here) and my buddies and I met him and had a few beers. Once they close the place he decides to come with us back to my buddies house to keep on partying. My buddy is a drummer and had his set up so jason jammed with us a little. Left around 7 am to go get back on his tour bus.
Saw Pete Seeger with his sister Peggy this spring. He is 93 years old, and I couldn't believe I was sitting in front of a legend. I went to the restroom during intermission, and as I walked out, there was Pete, right in front of me. I stammered out something about being honored and how much his life and his music have influenced me to live a more meaningful life, and then shook his hand. I would've cried but I was in such shock I forgot how.
Can't believe I'm the first person in this thread to mention this considering the title, but LCD Soundsystems final 2 shows are a weekend that I will never, ever forget. Went to the last show of their 4-night Terminal 5 run, and there were guys dressed up as the dance pandas, crowd surfing. James saw them and stopped what he was doing and just squinted, saying something like "Wait a minute, is that real?". 2 nights later, at their last-ever show at MSG, I was dancing my butt off in the aisle and who comes along and starts dancing with me, but one of the dance pandas from the T5 show. I was on zero drugs, but that whole show was such a high I could've sworn I was in a dreamland.
In this thread we discuss all the crazy shows/experiences we had back in the day.
This is a dangerous thread for me, and none of my experiences on Grateful Dead tour for a few years should even count, and you guys hate Phish so I will try and keep jam bands out of it.
First concert ever in Memphis, it was 12 dollars and dad drove the hour each way, but I paid for his ticket out of my lawn mowing money.
It was BB King, Little Feat and Dr John. Along the way I have seen the Stones twice, Pink Floyd, David Bowie, you know the standard stuff but there was pretty much the most epic show I ever attended.......
When I was a Junior in high school, Bob Dylan back before his resurgence played our gym. It was fifteen for a floor seat, and ten to sit in the seats. The first set was acoustic and really pretty great, but the second set got interesting. I grew up in the small town of Jackson Tn, and Carl Perkins then sat in the whole second set with Dylan, and as far as I know it was his last live performance he died 6 months later, and I met George Harrison at his funeral, but that is different I was there story.

At Echo Project I watched a wookette giving birth during the GZA set. I was just peaking on some corn. People were trying to get medical help, but they hadn't arrived. Some other wookette claimed to be a midwife and was coaching the woman through this. Her wook man is standing there shirtless and spun like top, just making these weird sounds while he is crushing his beer can and spraying coors light all over everyone. He looked really anxious about the whole thing, grabbing his face and just making grunts and stuff. The baby's head starts to crown and the medics still haven't arrived.
This is where it gets crazy... It was so quacking dusty out there and the baby and all the surrounding fluids were immediately "muddified" by the blowing dirt. I mean, its quacking gross. All of a sudden, this quacking kid (probably 19 or 20) in his oversized neon, flat-brim LRG hat, runs up yelling "welcome to the party biznatch!" before he blows a huge plume of smoke right in the baby's face! While the umbilical cord is still attached and shiz!
The smell was unmistakeable, this baby had just been deemcorn'd.
He must have pulled the hit from a corncob, b/c it was monstrous. The surrounding crowd dropped their jaws, and someone tackled the kid as he starts to run away. He didn't make it more than 10ft and the he was probably blasting off about now.
The mom is clutching the dirty baby and trying to calm it. Though, strangely, the baby was not crying (tripping balls i guess?). And while the dude is getting screamed at, the dad suddenly pounces into action. He jumps on the dude, and starts smashing said bisco kid's face with the crushed up beer can, of which he seemingly just can't let go. The bisco kid is kicking and trying to roll out of it and the wook-dad grabs the kid's hair w/ one hand. he finally let the can go and shoves his other hand half way inside the guys mouth. He is pulling his mouth open and RIPS HIS CHEEK OPEN! repeat: rips his quacking CHEEK OPEN!
there is blood everywhere and the dude lets out this braveheart-like scream as he gets pulled off by the folks around him. Blood all over bisco kid's face, shirt and formerly fresh flat breezy. The cops/medics arrived about that time and took over the situation.
shiz was crazy as hell.
that just toped anything i might add at this point! Or I could boar you with the strange odyssey of Kanye from roo'

So I was seeing Sevendust for the second time at a very small outdoor venue and the first opening act (Travisty Theory) had just finished when the second opening act comes out and most of us were kinda leery on what to expect. I had never heard of the band Skindred at that time so I figured it would be your basic rock around stuff... and once Benji (lead singer)started singing, the entire rail/pit went nuts! They brought so much energy, rock and reggae! They were on point at that moment and literally melted my face off!
So Nonpoint comes out (preheadliner for the tour) and I see the guys from Skindred off to the side a little so I go over and introduce myself and tell them how amazing there live show was. I was surprised that not many people were coming up to them after that brillant set they had just played!
When I meet a famous act or artist, I always ask the question "Name one guilt pleasure CD that you own" and, low and behold, Benji says "come with me and I will show ya!" and we (the entire band and myself) proceed to head to their tour bus where Benji shows me a cd wallet and flips open to none other than The Saturday Night Fever Soundtrack! So while Nonpoint is on stage doing their thing, I am on a tour bus listening to "More Than A Woman" by The Bee Gees and laughing my ass off! So we hop off the bus and I was kinda bummed that I had given up my spot to see Sevendust when Benji hands me a pass and says "Come hang out back so you have a good spot to see the boys" That act of awesomness was beyond cool!
To this day I still enjoy Skindred and everytime I hear The Bee gees, I think back to that moment when Benji was shaking his dreads on a tour bus to their harmonies.

Jess, any Dead tour stories or pre-2000 Phish stories will likely be warmly received. Actually, my experience at Coventry is easily one of the craziest/worst things I've been apart of, but I'm on my phone and don't want to type it out now.

I made burgers for Thurston and Kim when I worked at Shake Shack. I demanded that I be allowed off grill to serve them, too. My manager spotted them in line, he had been a fan for 20 years or something, but nobody else in the damn shack knew who they were. I had seen them play United Palace Theater less than week before, so I told them I enjoyed the show and gave them a complimentary t-shirt. And then several hours later my heart rate returned to normal.
