Well I'm surprised no one else is talking about this one, yet. I tried searching through the forums but couldn't find a subject on this one for this year. This is one of my must go festivals this year. For one I have a few friends who are going already that would be nice to meet up with. Also I have never been to this festival and I heard a LOT of good things! So no matter the lineup I am going. I want to get to see that Sherwood forest! Early bird tickets are also already sold out so for the other people who are already planning on going you might want to jump on the next tier of tickets.
I almost made a thread for this last week. Loyalty, Early Bird, And Electric Entry Tickets are sold out already. I have a couple of friends that volunteered here last year and they had a blast. I wish it was closer. I'd have to kill way too many vacation days to make that drive.
I thought of making this thread earlier too, lol...
Part of me is considering going if I volunteer with WET, but that's an even longer drive than going to Bonnaroo (from the DC suburbs). Probably 13 hours... Love the venue though!

I also thought about making this thread when early birds were announced but the general dislike for any mention of it here kept me from it.
I already bought my tickets. Roo and eff are pretty much a given for me each year. 3 nights of cheese in that setting is worth the price alone for my tastes. Really hoping we get more house/trance this year and a little less dubstep. 30k is max for attendance this year.

Please don't worry about that ever. If there is any fest were multiple inforooers would like to attend, I strongly encourage a thread to be created for logistics on meeting up or whatever. Who cares if a dick stops in to drop a snarky remark. It's the internet. It pretty much always happens. And sometimes it's hilarious.
I would absolutely love to go to Electric Forest one year. Unfortunately the location is a logistic nightmare for flying to.
Fly into Chicago Wednesday night or early Thursday morning. I'll pick you up and you can ride with my group to EF. I'll take you back Monday. Sound good?

Well damnit. I can't add another fest to my schedule this year at this rate I WILL however totally take you up on that offer next year.

The list below is artists who have definitely been contacted by the festival, but the only confirmations are those artists from SCI, Madison House, and Pretty Lights Music(marked with an asterisk). It’s being said that SCI(String Cheese Incident) may be on their final tour of Electric Forest, and that they’re looking to hand the hosting baton to PL Music. The original idea was to give it to Lorin(Bassnectar), but after the mess his bassheads caused last year they decided to keep it in the CO family.

Bassnectar was headlining late night after SCI, and apparently his bassheads went pushing and shoving to the front to grab their spots before SCI had finished. It created quite a scene along the front rows, and SCI commented later about their distaste towards the crowd. It totally disrupted the entire end of their set.

Not good and another reason I do not like bassnectar.

Bassnectar is probably my favorite DJ. He more or less got me into the EDM scene, and he's absolutely brilliant. I have never encountered an unfriendly crowd at one of his shows, and I certainly know he was as disappointed as SCI to hear of what happened. Don't judge an entire crowd on one experience.

under half...i'll take it
don't get me wrong...the EDM scene(and the dubstep scene in particular) has drawn a mass of inexperienced teens to festivals and shows, and they can be downright rude and annoying at times. but the scene as a whole is meant for positivity and good vibes. we were all n00bs once...maybe not so green at the beginning...but i think the best thing we can do as vets is lead by example
Bassnectar has done quite a bit for the EDM, Dubstep, and the whole scene all together. Lorin is an outstanding guy and deserves the popularity. He has spoke out against drugs, been an active voice for being a better person, and donated more then prob. anyone on these board to multiple causes. With his fame in the EDM world it brings people who just want to have a good time and turn a blind eye to what bassnectar (lorin's creation) is really all about.
Me not a fan of Bassnectar is more me not enjoying Dubstep. After a while, it gives me a headache, so it is less him and more me. I am sure he was embarrassed that bros were at his show ruining it for others and I know that is not him. I have seen him more times than I know or remember, but the one time I remember; I waited for what seemed like an hour, before he asked the crowd for a sound card, because the Playa fried his.
So that list and the whole "handing over the reigns to Bassnectar" all came form a post on Infobury, and it's pretty certain to be completely made up.
The "mess" it is talking about is how Bassnectar fans acted at EFF last year. I didn't experience any of this, but there has been lots of talk of BN fans being generally rude to the Cheese heads and Cheese themselves. BN's set was after Cheese on Sunday night. Rave kids took over most of the front rows from the beginning of Cheese's set. They weren't into the show, blocked out everyone who actually cared to be there, and apparently booed Cheese towards the end.
Again, I didn't experience any of this personally, but it was a weird vibe that night.

Well said GratefulHippie, it makes me sad to hear this about some of the fans of Bassnectar, because Bassnectar himself is SoOoOoOo good! And if that rumor was true that they were wanting to put the festival in hands, it would've been in good hands. PL Music is great, too and has a lot of interesting artists in them (Break Science and Gramatik are my fav. so far) but it's sad that a small percentage of his fans gives an ugly image to members of a talented band like SCI or their fans or just other people in general. I mean 30% or 40% or whatever the statistic may be, I'm assuming you're just guessing, doesn't account for the bassnectar fan base as a whole. It is unfortunately something you have to deal with in the EDM "scene". Also I think it gives some of the younger crowd a bad rep because there is a lot of bad but you got to be open minded. I made some younger new friends at CounterPoint this year and they were just as chill as anybody else I had met at any other festival. You have try and show everyone love, and if they're not open to it then that sucks for THEM! I don't understand what the big deal with getting to the front is anyways. Yes it's a great view of the artist in action, but it's crammed in, hard to get water, you can't go piss, and the light show really shines in the mid front and back sections. Personally I like dancing around and having fun with everyone! Besides any spot in the Bassnectar field is the best seat in the house... as long as I'm there I'm happy. Anyways, sorry for the rant it seems you guys have discussed much since last I posted. Now I will write about what I came here for, lol. So GratefulHippie, I've been looking on consequence of sound dot net quite frequently for rumors on the lineups, and EF's website for updates but never hear anything. Are all these bands really confirmed?: SCI Pretty Lights Lotus Paper Diamond Grizmatik Minnesota Michael Menert Toubab Krewe Break Science Papadosio The Werks Paul Basic Twiddle Elliot Lipp Lance Herbstrong Ivan Neville's Dumpstaphunk
Out of the other bands you listed are they just rumored? I mean the ones above are a pretty damn good start imo! I do hope that Run DMT, Eoto, and the Glitch Mob all make the cut. I haven't seen any of those and just recently got into Run DMT shortly after missing them barely the first night of CounterPoint. I'd like to see A Tribe Called Quest added, I haven't heard any of their music yet, but seems like a good band with a name like that ;D And finally I would like to see some of these artists considered for the lineup: Saul Williams (pretty please) Thievery Corporation Ghostland Observatory Blackalicious and if you want a real fun silent disco dj (does forest have silent disco?) motionpotion is a lot of fun. Oh and Daft Punk, please. I'm also down for meeting up and hanging out if anyone wants. Who would you guys like to see added? Who do you think is getting added? And does anyone know anyone else that's been added for sure? Thanks for reading.
Well please let there be some Deadmau5 love there this year. I hope they get him, although I doubt that will really happen. He just rarely comes close by where I live and I've wanted to see him again very badly ever since Roo' 2010. I also know out of the only festivals I plan on going to Electric Forest and CounterPoint are the only ones that are even likely to get him. Anyone else agree, disagree, or don't care either way?
I realize Pretty Lights is already listed as confirmed on the first page, but just thought it interesting to share that Lorin of Bassnectar confirmed PL at EF on a Reddit Q&A (originally shared on the Artist Direct confirmation thread):
It's about halfway down the page... I did a ctrl+f to search for bonnaroo, and it was in the first post that mentioned bonnaroo. He did not mention whether he would be playing bonnaroo, however.
