OK who all is going to this? I have a 2 day pass + LN....had a ticket for my youngest daughter as well and now she is thinking that she would rather do something else. WHATEVER!!!!
so....I could potentially end up doing this thing solo...with an unused ticket. Willing to let the 2 day plus LN go for $85....I paid 120 after all the idiot fees.

1. Drive-By Truckers - It felt so good to see them after such a long time for me. They absolutely owned the weekened for me. Everyone there was loving every second; the moment of the festival for me was during "Hell No I Ain't Happy," whenever they would light up the crowd with the overhead lights on the stage for the chorus, you could see a sheet of rain pouring down, everyone dancing their donkeys off singing along, completely contradicting what they were singing. Everyone was suuuuuper happy. 2. Band Of Horses - Best set I've ever seen them play. They were really feeding off the crowd and you could tell Ben Bridwell was really appreciative that people had stuck around for them, and they brought out all the stops. The set was packed with old stuff, which is about all you could ask for. 3. Gary Clark Jr. - He tugged at my heart-strings with that shredding. 4. Heartless Bastards - They put on a terrific mid-afternoon set in front of a really nicely sized crowd. I was a bit disppointed they didn't play "Marathon" but the new material really rips. 5. Kurt Vile - Gorgeous. And we met Aaron Paul in the middle.
Jim James was probably my least favorite set of the weekend; his material did not translate well into the big, wet, outdoor atmosphere. A lot of the intricacies seemed to have gotten lost in the conditions he was playing in. I think it's much better suited for an intimate club setting.
EDIT: We also didn't make it to the Black Angels. Just too wet and cold. Goat were f*cking awesome though. In the middle of the day Saturday we actually took a break (missed The Joy Formidable and Lucero) and went to Target to get dry clothes. Whatever ponchos we had to that point weren't worth a thing and we were completely soaked so we decided to start over. Didn't really help but it felt good for about an hour.

We met Aaron Paul too, in front of the corn dog hut. I was completely an idiot about it.
And what a miserable/delightful weekend. I hope this fest continues, the set up was really great. The lineup obvs was fantastic. The logistics were pretty GREAT. They did their best to put band aids on the mud with pine straw and hay everywhere. So really it was only the weather that made it a labor of love. You had to want to be there, for sure.
I have only one semi-gripe - the transportation. ONE HOUR between shuttles from the closest marta was simply not enough, so we decided to cab there and back every day. Last night, there was a "taxi line" that was a complete joke. It could have been fixed with a simple cattlegate put up on the sidewalk so the "line" could actually be served appropriately, without people jumping out into the street to flag down cabs before they reached the front of the line, and the cops "manning" the lines could focus on getting cabs in and out without drunks pestering them. Obvs these kind of festivals are getting very earth-friendly, so they didnt really tout the parking situation - but there WAS parking allegedly, and should have been advertised better. With so many people drinking for warmth (hello, bourbon) and just general festival drinking habits in full effect, the transportation issue needs to be fixed.
BUT - that's my ONLY gripe! It was a great weekend barring the weather, and I'm glad we went!

Goat was amazing. Best show I've seen in quite some time.
awesome festival, even with the rain and cold. my favorites sets were gary clark jr., shovels & rope, kurt vile, the antlers, the joy formidable, vintage trouble and surprisingly, the lumineers (everyone else in the group was ready to leave, but i was really enjoying it). we also missed the late night show and band of horses. with people in our group getting lost, getting sick and getting fed up with being cold and wet we just couldn't make it.
Best sets of the weekend for me: Delta Spirit - Third time seeing them in a year, by far the best show. Matt Vazquez was out of his mind. Shovels and Rope - Tremendous energy from a duo playing honky tonk country music. Perfect for their slot. Jim James - terrible conditions, but still seeing his album live plus the couple Monsters of Folk songs made it worth it. The Lumineers - from opening with a cover of "Have You Ever Seen The Rain" to the very end, it was one big sing along in the rain. Lots of fun for a band I didn't think could headline a festival, even of this size. With their stage set up, it is obvious they are prepared to take the next step.
everyone should come to this next year. it wa great fest in its first year and I'm sure it will get better. I can almost gurantee MMJ will be a headliner as well.
For me, it all depends on the lineup & late night shows of this vs Jazzfest. It's damn near impossible to top everything that's going on in NOLA during the second weekend of Jazzfest + 2 hour drive instead of 5 + I have a free place to stay close to downtown nola. I have a free place to stay in ATL too, but their dog is an jerkstore and it's a good little haul away from downtown.

Seriously, I'm not even letting myself consider this.
Either way though it is a great lineup for me. Change up the first two lines a bit and this could be a Bacon Barn sponsored event. I have my class schedule and this nests perfectly between my big project and finals week so I am definitely buying a ticket when they go on sale and unless flight and boarding coasts are too ridiculous I will be there.
