I just finished applying to be a volunteer at Bonnaroo. I'm super excited -- I hope I get selected! Although, I didn't include much in my "volunteer experience"...I hope it's not a big deal.

Anybody else out there applying?
Hello Bama, I just finished filling aout my application. This is my second year. Don't worry about prior experience. You'll get selected. The only prior I had was working with Hurricane Katrina folks. Goodluck and have fun. Hope to see ya in volunteer camping area. Kudos headed your way. C ya.

I am doing Clean Vibes again. I'm trying to get a paid position with Vibes, but the only holding me back is that I may have to work 'roo as well. I really want to volunteer, and I'll work it if I have to, but I would much rather just do post show clean up at 'roo.

They make you put down the deposit so that if you screw up/don't show up/or something like that they won't refund you your $$$. It's basically their way of guaranteeing that you're a good worker!

well, i submitted my app, but there's no way i can afford to put down a deposit like that after already having paid for my ticket
There's really no point in volunteering if you already have a ticket. The main reason they offer it is for the free ticket. Unless you just want the satisfaction of giving back to Bonnaroo.

well, i thought maybe i'd get refunded the money i spent on the ticket i already bought
oh, well. i'd like to think i do my part when i'm there. as it is, i'm that weirdo that will pick up the most nasty piece of trash and throw it in a trash can just to have it off the ground.
So, realistically, what are my odds of getting selected now that I've applied? My boyfriend and I both applied...do you think we'll both get selected? We're starting to worry now that one of us will get to do it and the other won't...I mean we're both still going regardless, but still. That would kind of suck
I tried to apply as early as possible, so fingers crossed!
I doubt it would be too much of a problem. They'll probably also get back to you really quickly. My friend's girlfriend applied to volunteer last year and they responded within a week (I'm thinking three or four days). Now, she's a sign language interpreter, so that's a big difference from someone just taking tickets, but you should still have a good shot.

when i applied, they said 2 weeks
Yeah, I'm really not clear on all the details. She also contacted them about volunteering a lot closer to the festival, so that would be different also, since I'm sure they get a lot of applications at first.
The only problem is that you never know when you're gonna work. A lot of people get there, see the schedule, see when they're supposed to work, say "f this," and just walk off and let them take the deposit. Seriously, if you're listed as guarding the gates to Centeroo during Friday or Saturday late-night sets, what're you gonna do? No wonder those people are always all about taking our glowsticks (and other fun things).

Did you do pre-festival or regular festival? The pre-festival volunteering usually gets taken up pretty fast. Because of this they usually give pre-fest to those who have volunteered before or who have some major volunteer experience. If you prefer festival you will definately be alright. Either way I think that you will be there since you sent in so early.
Close your eyes. Picture a convict. What's he wearing? Nothing special, baseball cap on backwards, baggy pants... he says something ordinary like... 'yo, thats shizzle.' Okay. Now slowly open your eyes again. Who are you picturing? A black man? Wrong. That was a white woman. Surprised? Well, shame on you.
We both selected during the festival, since the notion of camping for like 7 days straight kind of gets to me..haha. Plus I can't get off work/school for that long. So YAY I hope we both get selected! That would be awesome!
Hope to see some of ya'll in the staff camping this year!
I submitted my application yesterday. First time roo volunteer but have been to the past 2. I'm trying to do pre-festival setup so I can enjoy as much music as possible. Hopefully I'll get accepted and see some fellow inforoo volunteers there!
Pre-festival filled up slowly last year, and they asked Festival volunteers to come early if they could. I and three of my friends applied this year. I worked last year, and had a great time.
Has anyone recieved the accepted e-mails yet for pre fest? I submitted and was just wondering. When do you recieve the deposit back? Is it Wendsday night after work is done? Or is it not before Roo or what?
I just got my confirmation email. I've been approved. The dates seem to have been left out by mistake though. Oh well, I'm excited. Anyone coming from NE Ohio that will be there on Wednesday?

When is the deadline to apply for volunteering? Also, when do you need to put down a deposit? Because I need to sell my ticket first if I decide to volunteer cause I don't have enough money for the deposit!

I got approved as well, and so did my boyfriend!
For the people who have volunteered before: logistically, how much time do I have before I absolutely have to put down a deposit or lose my spot? I have got to make some serious cash fast to put down the deposit, and I need some time. April? May? I'm kind of stressed about it!
Monday, May 12th would be the day that you would lose your spot if you do not put down your deposit. They won't give it up until then so you have a little bit of time. Maybe if you are lucky your nationwide tax refund will be in by then and you will have no problem.

so I also received my confirmation today for pre-festival as a first timer. i was just sort of wondering if any volunteer vets could tell me more about what the prefestival workers do. another question: do many people come on their own to volunteer? I am kind of nervous b/c my friend hasn't sent in an app yet and i don't really want to drive up to TN from kansas all alone!
