Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
<----That's me--come say 'hi' as I'm traveling alone and will most likely be lonely : (
You won't be lonely long. I came by myself last year and met 3 other vols (2 gilrs and a guy) and we hit it off like we knew each other for years. I'll be alone in vol camping again this year, but I hope to meet most or all of you by Thursday night. I'll try to find a pic and upload it sooner or later. Till then just assume I look like Homer Simpson ;D.
So do we receive some sort of volunteer ticket? Are they gonna send us a letter or something confirming it, and telling us how to enter and everything?

It may be different this year. Last year we got a package in the mail with all the do/don'ts, and instructions on where to check-in at. Volunteers have their on check-in place. I showed up, showed them my DL (photo ID), got a tee shirt, more info, put a staff sticker on inside of windshield, and they pinned a bracelet on me. You kind of go thru an assembly line. At the end of the line they gave us our work assignments and directions on where to go thru to avoid regular Bonnaroo check-in, . My luck is kind of like Murphy's Law. At the end of my line I was told my first day's work assignment would be starting right then. I was told that VIP check-in was swamped and they needed someone mature (nice way of calling me old) to help out immediately. So, I had to go straight to work and it was about 6p on Thursday night before I actually made it to my campsite. This year the check-in is a day earlier. I'm sure it'll be smoother.

Hi everyone....I'm new here. I got accepted as a POD volunteer....has anyone done this before?
Come on in sunshine. I had to look POD up, I hadn't never thought of doing it. I have no idea what you'll be doing. Best I can tell you'll be assigned to a certain area and you may be in charge of us other volunteers in your area. The down or upside of it is you'll be camping within your POD area. However, I would assume you will be able to visit staff camping area on your off time. If that is possible, come on over and say hi to us. Best I can tell we have a great group of vols in this forum. I'll extend the same hospitality to you as I did the others here, "Mi casa es su casa". Or, as we say in my neck of the woods, "my cooler is your cooler" . Karma headed to you and once again welcome. David

This is only my second post on the board. I can't wait to see you all.
I always figure the more the merrier so I hope that I get to meet you all and that we can have a great party!!!
I either want to have my campsite swamped with people or be hanging out at the campsite of some other cool folks.
On the main bonnaroo community site I read that a lot of people are planning to put up Cookie Monster balloons at their site to let people know they are invited to come by and party. Is anyone planning to do that?

You guys-- it's officially MAY! (I guess it has been for a day) That means Bonnaroo is *NEXT FRIGGEN MONTH!* Commence freaking out. . .
I'm so excited to meet you all--this is going to be an awesome adventure!
I may not have a cooler full of beer to offer you, but you can bet I'll have some sweet iced tea : ) Look for the white and blue vw bus w/ Illinois plates and come say hi if you can.
Watchin' a stretch of road, miles of light explode. Driftin' off a thing I'd never done before. Watchin' a crowd roll in. Out go the lights it begins. A feelin' in my bones I've never felt before...

Wow......I am loving the great responses I've been reading. Thanks for all the mi casa es su casa stuff. Of course, the same goes for me and my stuff....that's always the way I roll.
David thanks for the advice about lots of water. I also heard that pre-volunteers get worked pretty hard. No problem.
(and in case you're wondering, that photo in my avatar is Hunter S. Thompson, not me)

I hadn't heard about the balloons. That is a pretty good idea. The downside of staff camping is that you kind of have to have intermitent partying, due to different shifts/hours. There's no doubt about us all having a good time.
dystopiandream: There isn't a good ole southern boy that I know of would turn down a glass of sweet tea. I'll come by and holler at you if I see you out and about. Oh, my cooler will have more than beer to drink. So, each of you are welcome to whatever tickles your fancy. I ran out of water last year before I ran out of beer.
rainydayman: I was kinda hoping it was a photo of you. I figured, "hey someone is there close to my age" ;D. I guess I'll keep working on my book called "Fear and Loathing in Clinton, TN"

.......actually, I am older than you. Click on my name and you'll see.....but I don't let that get in the way of having fun.......maybe at camp I'll share my old concert and hitch hiking stories with you youngsters.

^^^Actually, in all seriousness, I may take you up on that. You see--Bonnaroo is actually part of my research for my Master's Thesis (I'm writing it now, defending in the Fall). It's a creative nonfiction piece on festival culture/concerts/traveling, etc. and if I could talk to you and potentially use some of your stories, I would *GREATLY* appreciate it!!
I would have just pm'ed you about it, but I wanted to put it out there so that you all are forewarned. If I start talking to you at Bonnaroo and whip out a note pad and start jotting things down--no I am not with the Fed's and, no, I'm not crazy. Sort of.

dystopian darling, I'd be honored. I'll be at there all week. I really do have some great stories I'm always happy to tell. I should be easy to find. I'm the tall gray haired guy named Luke with a big smile. Bring your pen and paper and we'll get that ol' thesis paper knocked out before Friday.

Gotta give you karma just for the youngtser comment, although I'm sure you meant the others. I'd be honored to hear of you adventures.
I guess I need to find a cookie monster baloon somewhere to fly at my tent.

Pads and pens don't worry me none. As for the crazy part, in the words of Jimmy Buffet "if we weren't all crazy, we would go insane".
Dude, I seriously can't concentrate on anything but bonnaroo right now. . .It's to the point where I'm poking myself in the eye with foreign objects. . . I think I just need to be sedated until Tuesday. . . . Dystopian Dream

Hello! This will be my first time to Roo and I also happen to be a POD volunteer. That means I get to live among regular visitors and won't get to take free showers like the other volunteers.

I tell you what'd I do. As soon as my shift was over I'd haul my grungy butt over to staff camping a grab a free shower. You'll have a staff bracelet, so security won't hassle you.

So...now what? When do we get more info on details? I'm a very detail-oriented person lol. When do we find out where to go, what to do, what it will be like, etc?
Or do we just show up?
Oh and dutins, we have a friend who isn't volunteering who is bringing the RV up on Thursday. So we're going to have 2 camps - one in staff for me and the boyfriend, and one at the RV! You should consider maybe someone else you know bringing your RV?
I missed the May 12th Paypal deposit/application deadline but am seriously interested in being a POD volunteer - I just didn't think I would be able to get off work, I find out now that I can. Anyone out there have any info. on remaining volunteer opps? Have all the positions been filled? I've emailed TPTB but hoped I might be able to get some insider info.
