What happened yesterday with the Guroo schedules?? I missed it anyway due to work (stupid real world)..just hope I dont get shafted with 2-9 friday-sunday if I cant get there today on time.
Lucked out 2-9 Wednesday and Thursday at Tollbooths and 2-9 Saturday at Croo HQ... is that the Centeroo location or that tent over by VIP / POD 1 entrance?
so what do guroos actually do? I'm a during show vol ill be working tollbooths wednesday and thursday
I'm not sure myself to be honest.. I declined last year because I thought it would mean a bad spot for McCartney...wrong... anyway....We check the during show volunteers in at the high school on Tuesday, but other than that, I am not sure yet.
I'll let you know Wednesday or Thursday though since tollbooths are my Weds/Thurs shifts!
Hey guys. I don't think I officially mentioned here that I wasn't going to be a GuRu this time even though I was invited to be one.
But home life decided I wasn't able to be there for the amount of time that was needed.
But...But...But....Thanks to QUSAROO, I'm still going to be there. Because they effing rock the socks off of everyone. I really hope to meet some of you.
do good work. Because a lot of people don't realize the time and effort that goes into being a Bonnaroo volunteer. I will try my best to give a high five and a thankyou hug to anyone one of you shirts that I bump into.

Tollbooth GuRoos job is just to make sure that all the booths are working at a good pace, that everybody is having a good time and getting the GA peeps psyched up, keeping all general volunteers happy and hydrated, and answering questions about anything/everything from GA and Vols. It's a fun job and you get to meet thousands of people who are just as excited for the music to start as you and me.
For the first time in 3 years I will not be at the tollbooths. I didn't even see any tollbooth guroo positions up for grabs on the shiftboard.
I will be at Croo HQ Wednesday 6:30am-9:30pm(2 shifts put together) then Friday 6:30am-1:30pm. I'm super stoked that I won't be missing anything and for once I will be able to see some shows on Thursday.

Great idea doubling up on Wednesday to knock out a ton of hours without missing any acts!
My schedule is set with 10:30am-5:30pm on Wednesday, Thursday, and Sunday. Stoked to have Friday and Saturday free and will be finished on Sunday before Broken Bells / Wiz Khalifa / Elton John.
Hey guys! We've got a co-op camp going on in the main volunteer section if anyone is interested. Come on and join the party! www.facebook.com/groups/639833176065862/

Out of curiosity.. Will our volunteer credentials get us into any VIP areas? Like the hill perhaps? As a side note, if you look like you belong somewhere , people usually believe you I have found. I was VIP the last 2 times I went but wanted to give back this year. I'm gonna miss some of the sweet amenities. I ain't whining , just curious.

only if you are scheduled to work in one of those areas.

That's what I figured. So what say I walk in there with the "I'm working in this area" vibe about me.. We'll see how it works.
edit: i'm not really gonna be sneaking into vip or anything dont worry.

If a volunteer needs a ride from the ATL area I've got extra room in my car. I've posted on Zimride and Ricky Rides. Lemme know! I would looove to get some help with gas.
This is a friendly reminder to keep an eye on the Google Doc and Facebook group. Also, for those wanting to trade, keep in mind a shift during primetime music is gonna be hard to trade for something earlier and whatnot... I wish you all the best of luck though!
Hey guys! This is my first Bonnaroo, and consequently my first time volunteering. A friend referred me to Inforoo and it has been so helpful in the preparation.. (Maybe I should have made my first post in the "Introducing Lurker" thread, whoops!) I did have a question.. wondering if any of yall could answer. In one of the emails they sent out AND in the training video they said something along the lines of "if you are designated to work in a certain pod, you will be camping near that pod" .. described as "SUPER CONVENIENT" in the video if I'm not mistaken. I am assigned to work at Pod 6 for all of my shifts. Does this mean I will be camping in/near Pod 6, and not at the volunteer camp?
Just curious, as I will be volunteering solo, hoping to meet up with friends that will be in Groop Camping arriving late Wednesday night.

had a great time at bonnaroo only worked one 12 hour shift. since they closed the highway tollbooths on thursday. i know I'm ready to go back and will be back for my first too i did pretty good survived the rain and the mud and enjoyed my self. look out for next year bonnaroo I'm packing better and pimping my camp. question thought when should we expect our deposit back?

I'd give it a week, mayyybe 2. Not too long usually.
Glad you had fun! Bonnaroo is addicting! I can't wait to get back next year! I think I'm gonna do GuRoo next year.
I think I may volunteer next year. I've been against it in the past because I figure I'd miss crucial shows but this year I've come to the realization that you don't have to see a gazillion bands to roo, nor do you have be in the front. All you have to do is radiate positivity, as cliche as it sounds. And all that roo energy will permeate through you no matter your role on the farm.

If you become a returning volunteer, you can sign up early on and get pre-fest too...OR do post-fest (assuming you have the extra time off for either). But agreed! You don't have to see every little show and you could work somewhere (like Access areas by stages) where you're near a show you like anyway. who knows!

Working at Access can have it's perks, yeah, but don't forget all their shifts aren't by the stages. They may be in/near the Access camping area too (but at least it's all a lot closer to Centeroo). Each C'Roo has it's own pros and cons.

I did tollbooths this year and my 12 hour shift got cancelled. I was able to enjoy Friday much more. The folks around me all want to do tollbooths next year and go in together so we can camp by one another again. We really had a great time together at the campsite.I so miss 'Roo.

I did tollbooth this year and both of my shifts got cancelled. I somehow ended up with an M&M Parking shift even though I was tollbooth C'Roo...they messed me up in the database. The GuRoo checking me in and out of that shift took forever to find me on the list even when I explained the situation. I waited 3 hours doing nothing before my 12 hour was cancelled, so I got 2 meal tokens. That was rad.
Next year I'm definitely turning my deposit in early so I can actually give back and do something I enjoy. Crossing my fingers for Comedy Tent. I'm going to be going with first-year volunteers next year so I won't do pre-fest.

I've had the same. Sometimes they have too many tollboothers and switch to parking, I think (at least when WET was around at Roo instead of the "C'roo")
