Wed evening is lighter than Thursday for sure. Last year I practically drove straight in.
At 6 AM on Thursday morning, I did pull right in. I kept waiting for a line and almost missed the exit.
Same here and we DID miss the exit. I kept saying "any minute we'll see the line" and it never happened. It was about 6:30 AM. Pulled into the next exit and turned around and literally drove right into the gate. It was weird.
Last year we got in line at about 7:30pm wednesday, southbound on 55 coming from Mcminnville, TN.
They were not managing the southbound traffic very well on 55. Forcing everyone to make a U-turn to get in the northbound line whenever there was an opening/break in the line and traffic allowed it.
Even with that mess, we still got in within an hour. Camped in Lois Einhorn.
I arrived Wed around noon and waited on Bushy Branch til the gates opened...they let the first 10-15 cars on Bushy Branch go in but diverted the rest of us back onto the interstate, had to go 12 mi down the road and circle back around to Bushy Branch and ended up waiting about 2-3 more hours - took awhile but the line was moving pretty constantly so not so bad.
ANYWAY, got in the gates around 5-6pm on Wednesday and ended up in Pod 2. Truly...there is no way to predict this stuff!!! But I'm still probably going to drive myself crazy over the next 3 months planning the perfect arrival
My husband was injured overseas and is now considered handicap. He can still walk but, long distances hurt him! I know there is handicap parking but, our best friend is coming with us (in his OWN Truck) so, we don't want to park handicap since our friend cannot. Do you think if we explained that at the gates, they would let us park somewhere a bit closer? We are coming Wed Night and we also, don't have to be right next to centeroo.
Last year we drove right in. Showed up Wednesday around 630pm i believe. Seriously 5 minutes from interstate to our camp site in groop camping. it was amazing.
I don't know how everyone managed to avoid lines. We were in line on the interstate for at least an hour to an hour and a half, maybe longer on Wednesday night around 10-11pm, got through the tollbooth right at midnight and continued in line for another 30-45 minutes. And we ended up in Lois Einhorn. We will have at least one group coming earlier this year to part and get to Tent Only to claim our space.

This is all very encouraging. This is my second year going. My group has been having war-room like planning sessions to figure out how to avoid a repeat of the 12 HOUR LINE we waited in on the interstate to get into the farm in 2010. We got in line at 7 am on Thursday and started putting up the tent at 7pm. Missed Local Natives
What time do they generally start letting people in? We were thinking about leaving Iowa around 2pm Wednesday, which would put our arrival at around midnight in Manchester. I would gladly camp in BFE to avoid 22 hours in the car again.
They keep saying
Don't stop, no one's ever enough
I'll never look back, never give up
And if it gets rough, it's time to get rough
But now I'm falling, falling, falling

....Help!
If your husband has a handicap pass (temporary or regular), you can park in the ADA section & bring in one companion vehicle. So, you & your friend could park next to each other & be very close to Centeroo. I used ADA last year for the first time and it make a world of difference for me with my back problems. Feel free to PM me if you have any more questions.

The offical time is 8pm Wednesday, but they usually start before that whenever a large line starts to develop. I seem to remember it was between 4 and 5 last year, but I could be totally wrong on that.

Our current plan is that shell pack all the stuff in the truck during the day on Wednesday, and I get off of work at five. Kids will already be at grandparents on Sunday, and then we are going to leave for Manchester at about 6. We will stop in Nashville and eat a really good meal, then probably get down that way by 10ish. If we get put in somewhere that's to far away, we will prepare for the hike to tent only.
I may try my classic festival behavior and tell then I'm with the cellular company, and need to park beside the COW, which will be right outside centroo. We'll see.
In 2011 my group was lucky enough to meet an off duty cop outside of Walmart and he told us about the back entrance and had us follow him. This was about 6pm Wednesday night, we had our camp set up in BFE and started cracking beers by 7. I enjoy BFE and I loved the extra night of partying. I met up with some friends who had arrived Thursday afernoon and they were put in stewie griffin, which might just be worse than BFE and they had about a two hour wait. Last year was the same deal, except my friends that arrived Thursday morning said there was little to no wait. So I guess it's a crapshoot.
Anytime Wed. You'd really be pushing it to try to camp out in the parking lot before then but in an RV, you can get there much earlier. Most Wal-Marts, as a business ploy, allow RVer's to park in their lots whenever.

It's so hard not to get caught up in the "where am I going to be put" buzz! In 2011 we got into line around 7-8am ish on Thursday and ended up in Stewie Griffin after waiting inline for about 6 hours...horrible. In 2012 we got into line around 8pm Weds night and ended up in Camp George Mcfly with only a little wait in line maybe an hour?
This year we plan to get into Manchester around 8 Weds night and hope for the best! I'm trying not to dwell on it...(Good luck on that!)

We're arriving on Thursday between 2am-3am. We were in Pod 8 last year i thought the location was perfect we we're close to the church so I would get some tea while i charged my phone then off to center roo. I'm hoping in in the or near the same area again this year

My two cents, as if anyone will learn anything useful from it:
2010 - Hit Manchester around 8:00AM Thursday coming from the North. Sat in line on the interstate for quote a whil, then got routed all over the county (or so it seemed). Sent through the East tollbooth, got to our crumby Pod 10 site around 5:00PM. Bad enough experience getting in (and getting Pod 10) that we almost didn't go back, but chalked it up to the rain and it being a weird year.
2011 - Got into town in the early afternoon on Wednesday to try to avoid the horrible situation of 2010, went and chilled at the state park up the road for a while. Went around to the East tollbooth again around 5:00PM or so and had zero wait before having our cars checked. Sent to Pod 2, had some wonderful morning shade, plenty of space, and not too bad of a walk. Very pleased.
2012 - Arrived a little too early Wednesday afternoon, were told we couldn't get into line or wait at the gate (East tollbooth again), and told to come back at 6:00PM. Tried to go back around 4:00PM and waited in line about 2 hours or so before being sent to Pod 2 again, with less shade than 2011 but a tiny bit closer to Centeroo. Line started just after turning from Asbury onto Clifton-Scott, sitting still for a while then proceeding smoothly once it got moving. Very pleased again.
I'm going solo for the first time this year and probably gonna try to hit the East entrance on Bushybranch in the mid afternoon again, timing the driveas closely as possible. Hoping for Pod 2 again, unless my doctor balks at all the walking/standing and insists on me parking in Accessible due to multiple knee problems coupled with sciatic nerve pain. I'm not going to beg but I will mention it at my appointment next week (where knee surgery might be recommended), and I won't turn down a temporary parking hang tag if the specialist says I should have it right now. If Accessible isn't an option I may pack a cart to haul my shiz to TO in the event of being sent to Pod 10 or 11.
