My girlfriend has neither the will nor the way to do Bonnaroo. As in, she says she wouldn't want to go even if she had the time/money available to her. A year or two I can deal with, but in the long term I can see that really starting to get to me. Anyone out there in a similar position?

My wife will not go or even talk about it. At least she is cool with me going with one of my best friends who happens to be female. One of these years I will talk her into going..I hope!!!
2 little kids at home; one of us had to stay home...looks like it's the wife. No biggie, she'll be down the Jersey shore that weekend at the In-Laws shorehouse, and 2 weeks later, it's a girls trip to Lake George, NY. Plus, I think it's more of a guy thing to RV it...hell, it's like a treehouse on wheels. So me and some friends are gonna listen to some good tunes, have alot of laughs, and get really FUBAR....
My wife can't get into the whole 4 days of sweat and camping. Doesn't mind if I go though. (But we've been married 16 years so she's probably actually happy to be rid of me for a few days. ;D)
Doesn't bother me that she doesn't come. It's good for relationships that each of you can do your own thing every now and then and neither feels neglected or slighted.
My wife would have loved to have gone and seen the Police last year, but she is not into the whole camping and sweating thing. I went with my brother, and will be going with my brother this year as well. Tried to convince her, but she isnt down with the heat, sweat, dirt...so she takes care of the kiddos and I get to chill with my brother and all the other rooers.
As my Inebriated buddy walks out of the Porto, he yells out, "Dude...I love this place...bonnaroo thinks about everything...they even put beer holders next to the toilet!"
Had to break it to him that that was the urnal. Good times good times!
I was at a friends' kid's 1st B-Day this weekend, and was telling the other Dad's about Bonnaroo, the RV (renting it, and it's F*CKING SWEET), the no-wives, etc...Christ, they were practically drooling...I said come along...some were "busy", and some just said flat out that they weren't "allowed"....Jesus, if I wasn't "allowed", AND I abidded by it, I'd friggin' kill myself. But then again, they're probably not allowed. I give my wife shit, but she's actually pretty cool...thank God....
my girlfriend for a year now went with me last year loved it goin back this year with me and to rothbury, although sometimes it would be nice to just be with the guys at festivals, but its pretty good to have her there if i start freakin out alittle i feel the safest with her when the late night life starts gettin crazy
It's a touchy subject for me. My girlfriend can't understand why we would want to camp and not shower for the better part of a week, and she's not a friend of no no. This is my time where I turn off my phone, have fun, and listen to music.
I try to get her to go when I have the money to rent an rv or go vip.
My gf and I got together at Roo '05 and she returned in '06 but took last year off and it looks like she'll pass this year as well. All of the heat and crowds and the driving is not her favorite thing and I'd rather not push it and have to worry about her having a good time. She's cool with me going solo, though, and so am I, truth be told.
actually my wife loves me going, she says I come back like a whole new person! and then I start planning for next year and she starts to take back her statements. I will say, one year the lineup will be too enticing for her, now that we got a camper and all

My husband hates loud music, large crowds, heat, camping........you get the picture. He is more than happy I go with a friend. He does get a bit tired of listening to my Bonnaroo obsession, but he is a good sport about it. In return, he goes on a trip with the boys to a sci fi convention.......at least that is what he TELLS me it is
You guys wont believe this, but my wife is basically a non-rooer. Yes we live right beside roo and it is walking distance, she just, as she says, doesnt have it in her anymore. She always says if bonnaroo had of come around 10 years ago, she would be in.
Now, she may walk over for a show or two throughout the weekend, but she definitely doenst "roo".
As one of the previous posters said, I have been married almost 16 years and she probably doesnt mind getting rid of me for a few days. Even though I get to gome home a shower occasionally.
Other fest than roo is where I get to get away. There is no coming home for a shower from allgood or echo. You just have to follow the rules of the married man at a festival. Dont get killed, dont get arrested and dont have sex with anyone (male or female!)
I could not imagine not having Boz with my at 'roo - I mean we both have our own interestes - but Bonnaroo would not be the same if I did not have my best friend with me.
My girlfriend isn't going, but is very supportive of me hitting Roo with my sis. She says she just can't handle the heat and everything, which is understandible. I also think she'll be happy to get me out of the house for a while!
I know I'm already making her crazy with all the Bonnaroo talk and it's just March...lol!

sadly my girlfriend is not going to make it this year but she's supportive of me getting some time off and enjoying the trip with some lifelong friends who have yet to experience roo. karma roofanintn for the laugh!

I'm like you other guys married 16yrs, wife not in to it but supports me going.It would be nice if she was in to it or one of my friends could go this year. But thats not going to stop me from going and having a great time!

I've been married to the hubby for 14 years. I was always a fest person, and when we were younger he would go to humor me (and to keep me out of trouble I'm sure), but now it's just not his thing. Never was really. When my dad was living he was my festival buddy, now I take my 17 yo son, the family tradition continues!!

i'm not sure i could be with someone who didn't share my passion for things like this. not that you can't share the music connection outside of a festival, but festivals are just my thing, and i want the person i love most in the world to be a part of that with me.

I think if we plan better one year and go VIP she could probably make it with the promise of showers and AC every now and then. Thankfully she's happy to let me go with my sis and friend. Last year I drove her crazy with my Roo obsession but I'm being better behaved this year.

About two or three more years and I will be taking my daughter to the fests. She is almost 13 right now and she wants to go sssoooo bad! I take her to roo every year, but she wants to go to a "real" festival, as she puts it. Living right next door to roo, i guess makes it not "real" to her.
She wants to drive to a fest and camp.
She will be my little festival buddy for a few years until she heads to college....I cant wait for her to get old enough!

I second this!!! Good point, Clarity. I would love to have my significant other (if I had one) there to groove with but if he wasn't down, it wouldn't bother me. I'd have a good time either way. And for the record, I love camping and getting dirty!!!
And I'm not sure what all of this not "allowing" your sig other to go to Roo. I couldn't imagine saying that to someone I loved... about anything.

I totally agree with you. I think that if a girl I was into didn't like music or the music i liked, it would totally throw me off all together. I love music, it's very important to me.

My girlfriend of nearly two years will never do the festival scene, and, frankly, I've decided I don't want her there. When we got together, I made it clear to her that March to October was festival season, and that I was likely to hit an average of three festivals a summer. My ability to attend these festivals (and Bonnaroo in particular) is a precondition of our relationship with one another.
With that said, we found a very tiny bluegrass festival in early May last year that she really enjoyed and is looking forward to going back to this year. She just can't deal with the druqs and alcohol that are omnipresent in the scene, the heat, and the late night shows. She's almost ten years older than me and she says those times have passed her by.
My wife and I both love music and like omstly the same bands, so she has gone with me the past 2 years and will this year. She could not go the first year I went in 05 and I think she was disappointed but was OK with me going with a friend.
It was my wife's idea to go to IT, the first fest either of us went to.
