I was considering it. Shows at City Hall Plaza bring out the worst crowds. This is go g to be every high school senior In The greater Boston area trying to get wasted. I normally won't let a crowd spoil an event for me, but this one is worth skipping in my opinion.

I've never been to City Hall Plaza but that doesn't sound fun. Though Kev, a 21+ VIP might help with that, I am not sure if I should drop the funds for VIP on this.

Bottle throwing, moshing for no reason, kids not handling their booze. I probably sound like I'm leading a charge ha I just don't get a good vibe from this place. Here is a pic of the space. The mister and I just decided to go to this on Saturday(The Shins are one of his all-time favs), stay overnight in the city, then go to the Red Sox game on Sunday against Cleveland. I'm holding off on getting the BoSox tix, so if anyone wants to come to the game let me know!
$120 presale? I'm definitely in, I agree there will be about a billion youngins but fuck it, no obstructed views from huge people is great for short people like me And once the music starts I could care less. In between sets could get annoying though

It's like Freefest, but with random acts of violence thrown on top.

I have my two day and so does my friend who I went to Mountain Jam with last year (and lives in the Boston area). That baseball game sounds awesome.. but I think we are sticking to the fest.

I'm in. If nothing else I want to encourage more music fests in the Boston area. I'd probably never go see fun normally, but since I'll be there, I'll be there. City Hall Plaza is kind of cold, but I read that they are trying to soften it up somehow for the festival. Very excited for Of Monsters and Men. I'm not sure about the name of the fest (Boston Calling) though - Was Bostonaroo taken?

Hmmm. I saw the Best New Music Poll Festival there a few years ago, back when WFNX was still a thing. It had a fairly similar type of lineup (including Ra Ra Riot as a crossover), and I actually didn't have any problems with the crowd there - certainly nothing even remotely close to the kind of douche-y bro vibe I got at Virgin Free Fest, in any case.

If you get a room I highly recommend using Priceline or Hotwire where they don't tell you which hotel your staying.I have had nothing but great luck with it in Boston. In certain zones there are no bad hotels, especially near the venue for Calling. I've stayed at the Hilton walking distance to City Hall Plaza for under 100 doing this.

So I might be in Boston on Saturday. There's apparently a sizable protest against Monsanto scheduled for that afternoon. But whoever was organizing this decided to want to do it at City Hall Plaza... d'oh.
So yeah, if you want to hang out with me for lunch and perhaps afterwards rage against the GMO machine before seeing some shows...

If lunch is before music starts, then yeah, lunch! But I'm not into the LD style of leisurely strolling into the venue mid-day And I have ZERO interest in any sort of protest, so count me out of that.

Yeah, I figured you'd have no interest in that last part. It'd probably cut into the first couple of acts on the card. And I'm not expecting dance parties with marching bands (Boston, 12-8-11) or special guest musicians (NYC, 5-1-12) as a part of this. Running like hell from riot police (what ended up happening on 5-1) isn't for everyone, but sometimes I like to get a little crazy.
