I'm going to shamelessly plug our neighbors. They are a Black Keys favorite, have played Midpoint Fest, Nelsonville, Duck Creek, and other smaller fests, and are just terrific people. They hope to play Roo someday. I'd love to see them there.
We're all a mess of paradoxes. Believing in things we know can't be true. We walk around carrying feelings too complicated and contradictory to express. But when it all becomes too big, and words aren't enough to help get it all out, there's always music.

They started out just making music for their daughter Suzy, who is now 6. So their first album is almost completely music made for her. They started enriching their sound and lyrics from there. They are finishing up their next album.

A soundcloud link to a friend of mine. I don't know what to call it, but I dig it. https%3A//soundcloud.com/vance-belknap Edit: Especially awesome when you focus on Bill dancing in my avatar! (No Shit! Just watch him for the whole song. It's pretty awesome!)
The band is called David Hustler and the Trustworthy., and my dear friend from Big Name Actors is the Lead Guitarist. Going to their site they have 3 EP's they've released between June and September. This is music I listen to in rotation with everything else, and bias aside, I don't feel it's out of place. Really really fun live show if you live in the Toronto area.
These are friends and classmates of mine from high school (actually I've known Griffin since before preschool) and they have an amazing sound and style. They classify it as "holler folk" but you can call it what you want.

I'm not saying you can't be friends with yourself NoAge BUT your post is violating this threads intent. This thread is for songs made by your friends. I think this material would be better presented in www.inforoo.com/thread/30215/music-makers

Been meaning to post this for awhile now. Finally got around to it. Not and original song from a friend, but what I think is an incredible cover Flim by Aphex Twin. He kills it on the drums!
In the corner of a seedy bar in the Netherlands, brothers Parker Dotson (lead guitar) and Bradan Dotson (vocals & guitar) cemented their plans to form Antique Firearms. Shortly after arriving in Asheville, they were joined by brother Galen Dotson (keys) and long-time friend Chandler Brewer (bass). Drummer Dave Breske has since completed the mix and the family.
Antique Firearms’ sound is an eclectic melding of rock, folk, and electronica - belying their varied interests and an evolving experimentation. The dynamic nature of the band’s sound has led them to be compared to the likes of ‘My Morning Jacket’ and a southern-fried version of ‘Radiohead'. That along with their "nattily dressed, and blistering" live performance has been creating quite a buzz in the southeast. 2013 was a good year for the band. They released their second album 'Vicious Behavior', completed their first major American tour, were featured artists on Soundcloud and Reverbnation, and got a chance to play with the likes of Colonel Bruce Hampton, the Mountain Goats, and The Love Language. They've now set their sites on finishing up their third album, to be released later this year.Currently located in Asheville, NC but soon relocating to LA. These friends of mine especially Parker Dotson(lead guitarist) who I've known since I was like 8-10 years old are beginning to make a name for themselves. Having played shows at the Orange Peel and Floydfest recently I would love for everyone on the inforoo community to check them out and hopefully enjoy/share and help them gain the recognition I believe they deserve.

My husband (he is also my friend, so that counts, right?) has an album titled Post-Industrial Hokum on Bandcamp under the name Vance Belknap. You can listen to the whole album on the site or tracks can be downloaded for a small price. vancebelknap.bandcamp.com/album/post-industrial-hokum

Self-promotion's kosher in this thread, right?
Anyway, I have a friend who is a DJ (soundcloud.com/whitenoize-1) and I took a little inspiration from him and did 4 remixes in 2012. two of them are up on Soundcloud:
For all you metalheads out there: my brother from another mother recently released his new band's debut EP. He's the most natural musician I know - he plays several instruments in several genres, all very proficiently; here, he's on guitar in a doom/stoner metal band:
i like it. But unfortunately, unlike many on this board, I lack the verbal skills to articulate why with any degree of accuracy or in any manner that could be construed as constructive criticism. It just has a nice beat and goes dum-dee-dum-dum-dum a lot.

Favorite analysis I've heard of their music since I heard someone at one of their shows say "This sounds like... I work at Pizza Hut and I hate my job music. I like it"
