While we're discussing the state of our current teams, how does everyone feel about the Eagles this year? It's certainly one of the more interesting offseason stories IMO. There's so much potential matched with so much uncertainty.
I'll give my Panthers/Jets opinions when I'm not feeling quite so lazy.
I've got them slated at 7-9 wins, but wouldn't be shocked if they only won 5 or 6. It's gonna take time for the players and Chip to get acclimated. The Maclin injury hurts considering our receiving group was pretty average to begin with, but regardless our bread and butter this year will be the run game. We have 3 backs that can produce and a top 5 O-line when healthy. I'm really counting on Peters having a full recovery; there was nothing like watching him pick up steam down field and take on 2-3 defenders. I'm also expecting a lot of 2/3 TE sets. James Casey was a great signing and I think Zach Ertz could become a real nice player in this league.
The NFC East: Because every division has long-standing rivalries, but the NFC East really has long-standing rivalries.
I think it also helps that the NFC East doesn't have two teams that perennially are a lock to miss the playoffs (Bills, Phins) and a third that is the laughing stock of the NFL. Instead, all four teams in the NFL East have enough raw talent on their rosters such that a playoff appearance wouldn't be a surprise.
FWIW, I wouldn't be surprised at all if the Phins made the playoffs. If EJ Manuel is the real deal, the Bill's could be in the hunt by next year. They've got more talent on that roster than people give them credit for.

I feel confident in Peters and the O-line. I expect last year to prove itself as a fluke. The TE position is the one area I really expect the offense to change. If our TE's have a good season, I think we will too. I know what to expect out of Casey and Celek, but I'm hoping that Ertz shines from day one and really helps us put pressure on the secondary. I agree with everything you said here though, you know you're football, and your music!
Not with the NFC North and the NFC West. I'd be amazed if 2 teams made it.
The non division winner between Saints & Falcons takes one of the 2 wild card spots, most likely. Not ready to count out Tampa Bay, either.
I don't know how someone can say with a straight face that both wild cards are going to the NFC East when you have the Niners/Seahawks in the NFC West, Packers/Bears in the NFC North and Saints/Falcons in the NFC South.

One? Possibly. But both? No chance.
Niners and Seahawks will be there. I'm not expecting a lot from Da Bears. I think the Vikes or Lions may be more likely to get in from the North. I like to root for the Saints and Falcons. It's a long tough, road. Hoping for no devastating injuries to either of those teams.

True enough. I guess I am remembering a few years back when two teams were battling for a wild card spot to join the division winner in the playoffs. Maybe the division can send two teams this year.
The NFC East is the worst division in the NFC. They have no teams that anyone is afraid of. Just 3 mediocre to below mediocre teams. The Giants are the only consistent team IMO
The Eagles are a 5 or 6 win team. The Redskins are a 9-7 type team that could easily go to 5 or 6 win team with one hit to RGIII. The Cowboys never seem to put a season together and will have there normal 8-8 or 9-7 season. The Giants are the best team and have a chance to go 10-6 but I would bet on 9-7. No way they get 2 WC.
They NFC East has to compete with the Bears, Lions, Vikings, Saints, Seahawks/49ners, Panthers, and the Bucs for 2 wild cards spots. The Seahawks or 49ners will get one of those so that leaves only 1 spot left. I just don't see any East teams getting a WC. I would put my money on the Saints and the Hawks or 49ners

They may not have the one dominat team, but they are overall better rounded with the exception of the NFC North and maybe the South if both Carolina and Tampa Bay step it up this year.

The South is going to strong this year. The Bucs now have a top 5 defense and if Doug Martin has another year close to what he had last year that offense with Vincent Jackson and Mike Williams will be really good. They also added Ogletree as well. The Panthers will have a good season as well. They have a top 10 defense now and an offense that can definitely put up points and they added one of the best returners in the league in Ted Ginn Jr. So this year they won't to drive the ball 80-90 yards to points on the everytime.

You are insane if you think the NFC East is tougher than the NFC West. The NFCW has two teams that are way better than anything the NFCE has to offer, that's a far bigger point than how the bottoms of the divisions line up.

49ers are my pick for NFC champ and Seahawks aren't far behind. Those teams are both almost guaranteed 4 wins each from the Rams and Cards though. I'm tired of this discussion and ready to see some action on the field.
The Rams and Cards were a combined 3-4-1 against the Niners and Seahawks last year. Those two teams are a lot tougher than you're giving them credit for.
So I hear Chip Kelly is running nearly his entire offense out of the shotgun. Vick should really last a long time running an offense like that.

And for funsies: AFCN AFCS AFCE AFCW
Didn't realize it until you put it this way, but the NFC has the three best divisions in football, doesn't it.
I don't think the AFCS is that good. The Titans and Jags are awful and I think the Colts will come back down to earth a bit this year. They won a number of games at the last minute last year. Don't know if they can pull out that many close games this year. The Texans are really good tho.

Ouch.
Am i correct in remembering that means his season is likely over?
I don't give a single f*ck about the aptitude of the NFC East as a division, but let's not forget what the Redskins accomplished last season. They stumbled out of the gate with a lot of young players learning to play with one another (and Pierre Garcon missing essentially the entire first half of the season), but they ended the season by winning 7 straight games, and dominating within their division (with the exception of Madoodoo watching Cruz fly past him on a last second bomb from Eli). They finished 10-6, and there is no reason to expect them to be worse this year. They were also up 14-0 on Seattle in the playoffs before Bob initially got hurt (and should have been taken out of the game).
Before you say anything, I of course realize everything depends on Bob's knee. If he's healthy, however, Washington is a dangerous team.

I used to think you knew a little bit about football.
