It seems like leading up to the draft Eli and his management said they didn't want to go to the Chargers because they had just drafted Brees who had a decent rookie year and he didn't feel the team was taking the right steps in the draft towards building a contender. It's not much different than what Elway pulled or Deion saying that if the Lions drafted him he would ask for so much money they would have to put him on layaway. I didn't know anything about his recent dodging of the question.
For someone that hates Eli so much, you seem really butthurt that he rejected your city.
Trust me, I'm glad we didn't wind up with him. I've never once even remotely wished that dillhole was our QB. It's just a sh*tty thing to do, and he'll never live it down in this city.
I suppose what made Tom's post so absurd was calling Eli a "d*ckwad" for not going on the record explaining why San Diego is inferior to NYC. Either way, you're right. This Eli discussion that crops ever week up from inferiority complex-ville (Hi CKS and Tom) is complete nonsense.
No, it's nonsense trying to defend Eli in this situation. San Diego fans have every right to dislike the guy, and NFL fans in general don't have to excuse the fact that NFL Royalty (Manning family) pressured the team into doing something it didn't want to do because Eli would have pouted for the entirety of his rookie deal, then left town. As a Giants fan, you have every right to defend the guy, but you have to at least acknowledge there is a legitimate flip side to that coin that goes beyong "being butthurt."
I'm probably losing the bet. We should probably start PMing about more specific details so we don't need to quibble about it later when the bet is decided.
Haha, oh...you. I'm not letting this play out privately, you should know better.
I find it rather odd that you can't see through his "I can't remember" response as simply declining to answer a loaded question. I can't believe you actually think that makes him "dishonest."
Jimmy, this is weak.
Nothing I say will convince you that he's a dishonest prick and nothing you say will convince me the opposite. So find whatever you want odd and disbelieve whatever you want. OF COURSE HE REMEMBERS. It's one of the hardest things, I'm finding, to teach my kids but it's so important to the development of good adults - fu*king own your sh*t.
Edit - this is to another message where my comments were referenced. James - I don't think he's a d*ckwad SOLELY for being dishonest about this. It's a culmination of things, that, being honest with myself, would not amount to the same level of dislike for someone else who hadn't started with the SD blowoff.

I don't know that Eli is as much dishonest as he is non-confrontational. He could have easily said that he didn't wish to rehash that situation and would rather focus on the upcoming game. I don't want to seem like I'm defending the guy. I've never been a fan and he plays for a division rival. There have been several other players like the ones mentioned before and Bo Jackson who went to lengths to avoid being drafted by and playing for a certain team.
I just posted a hilarious picture from today's game. You started the Eli/SB superiority complex-ville defense posting.
You didn't start anything? Lol. Take a word of advice from Tom and "own your f*cking sh*t"
Oh sure once you came in here and posted something about my "super bowl envy", I got into it. But before that all I did was post a pic of a sign from the game that nearly made me die laughing when I saw it.
Tom, when did you become so abrasive? You used to be polite and timid.
I am still polite. Don't think I was ever timid though. And except for very rare occasions any perceived abrasiveness is done largely in jest or for hyperbolic effect. Here - I don't care for Eli Manning. Sorry.

Dude, you can't use Bo Jackson as an example there. Tampa Bay took him with the #1 pick while he was still at Auburn playing baseball. They took him on a private plane, deliberately violating NCAA rules to get him ruled ineligible, hoping that since he couldn't play baseball anymore it would help sway his decision on the ultimatum they gave him: picking between baseball and football (they wouldn't let him play both if he was on their team). He ended up signing with the Royals and the following year Al Davis took him late in the draft and agreed to let him only play on the team once he finished his baseball season. If Eli could throw a 96 mph heater, we can go there.

Sure, Bo had other options, but elected to play baseball over going to Tampa and was perfectly happy racking up all star appearances before Al gave him a call asking if he'd like to play football in Los Angeles which Bo informed him he would do as a hobby after the baseball season thus allowing the Raiders to pick him in the 7th round.

Yeah, not really a good comparison. Can't blame the guy for wanting to dominate in a sport that would take less of a toll on him than playing for those guys in the creamsicle uniforms.

Please stop arguing this. They intentionally f*cked over his final baseball season at Auburn to try and pressure him into playing for them and give up his favorite sport. He didn't make his first all-star team until 1989, his NFL career started in 1987.
Man, more amazing come-backs in one Sunday than Ive ever seen. Gearing up for a dogfight tonight. Quack them Cowboys. Bear down.
The last time the two teams met it was a real horror show for Romo throwing 5 picks. I'm hoping Dez can break out of his slump, maybe get some single coverage, and Murray can get going against a Bears run D that has not been very good this year. All of that and Marshall not going Megatron on the Dallas secondary should lead to a win for the Boys.
