I usually just keep a bandana with me to use however it may be needed. Dust mask, wet headband. Dew rag style if there is a lot of sun to burn my scalp.
I find a buff useful. Hat or visor too, if it's comfortable and has good breathability, depending on my mood and the weather. I'm looking into a new hat with maybe some mesh parts
I saw this 1 in Bed Bath & Beyond and it was definitely tempting me (even though the brand's site says it's a man's hat. whatever!)
Always a bandanna to hide my gross Roo hair as it gets later in the weekend. The bandanas with ice (from Ford?) are a life saver in the heat. I usually bring a large floppy hat for when the suns blasting, also doubles for covering my face while taking an afternoon nap.

Usually just a hat to keep the sun from burning my head. Sunburn on the scalp is not fun. I bring a bandana in case the hat becomes annoying but don't usually use it. Last couple of years I've had short hair so this year with longer hair may be a different story.
Iv always worn a bandana, soaking it in water at every chance makes a big difference although it will dry in about a half hour.
Off topic but a frog togg is the greatest thing ever for staying cool. Soak it in water and it stays wet and cool for hours. A friend let me borrow his in 2011 and i'll never roo without one again.
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.
Consider getting a real pith helmet rather than the straw weave kind. They're really light when they're dry, provide better protection from the Sun, and you can dunk them in cold water at the washing stations. The wood that they're made from is absorbent and cools your head off as the water evaporates in the sunshine. It's like sticking your head in a refrigerator.
me too!! I like to think I rock the porcelain look I have so many bad sunburn stories, but the worst was when I fell asleep (ok, passed out) for several hours on a fishing boat off the Texas coast... I have never been so miserable. like, it hurt to breathe. I pretty much spent the remainder of that trip in our room at the lodge, lying naked on the bed and wishing I was dead. anyway, lesson learned and these days I wear serious SPF. and if I'm going to drink heavily, I do it in the shade. and/or with better friends who will at least move my semiconscious body out of the sun.
edit: I am not a drunk. and on topic: definitely a wide-brim hat for shade since there's not much on the farm, a bandana is also super helpful, and yes, Frogg Toggs are worth the investment. if you don't wear a hat, SPF on the scalp is crucial. I also think carrying one of these around can be great on hot sunny days:

I just picked up one of those triangular, bandana-like Frog Toggs a couple weeks ago... hiked with it a couple times- kept me way cool. I can't wait to try it at Roo! I won't be wearing it on my head (because it's like a sponge), but I will be tying it around my neck. Should help a ton.

Bandanna all the way. I like that I can dunk it anytime I get water, and it helps hide the grungy Roo hair after enough time has passed. I think I only wore a hat at my first Roo but I just found it to be too cumbersome.
