First year I didn't bring any adequate shade, we tried rigging this tarp by fastening it to the cars and found a stick to hold up the center- it sucked and hung about 3 feet above the ground. I awoke every morning drenched in sweat at 8 or 9am THEN since I was up and there was nothing much to do, I started drinking beers sitting indian style down under that crappy shade tarpamajig. I never made it passed 1am any night.
Last year I stepped up my shade game and didn't drink too hard early, I saw everybody, including Kanye Worst's debacle at 4:45am

1. Sunscreen. Red is definitely not the new tan 2. If you're taking a powernap to get ready for the late-night, set your alarm and have someone make sure you're awake. I slept through waaaay too much of Tiesto last year and was very much angry for it 3. If you've never eaten or are relatively new to corn, then take it easy. It'll suck being stuck at your campgrounds due to feeling overly woozy and sick because you ate too much 4. Talk to people and make friendly. Everyone at 'Roo seems to be really cool. It's just a shame to not take in the whole thing 5. See new bands 6. Try out some of the other things 'Roo has to offer (the Silent Disco is AWESOME)

File a flight plan with parents, friends, significant other etc..... let them know when you're leaving home, when you plan on getting to manchester, when you plan on leaving roo and arriving home......In 06 my friends parents actually had a mid sized picture of the U.S.A mounted on posterboard and marked the map whenever we called them. It was pretty cool to see the big circle we made when we got back. 2200 miles in 2 weeks.

well... i'll be doing alot more different things this year... 1. having a shade gazebo thing and a chair for every person i'm with 2. putting dry ice in the bottom of my cooler 3. getting a mist fan, and a bigger fan for the campsite 4. bringing frozen gallons of water, one for each day (i'm only a 5 hour drive away) 5. powdered poweraid, gatoraid, and e-mer-gen-C 6. vitamin c pills 7. a tent made for the summer with a breezeway 8. a grill and skillet, along with pancake mix and egg batter and meat cause food is expensive as hell.
last year was my first year, i'll be way more prepared this year.. WAY more.

i'll try to throw in a few suggestions for a more enjoyable time!
shade canopies are number 1!! bring a bag of oranges (clementines), throw them in the cooler once you are there freeze your water bottles before going big jar of peanut butter put on your rain fly for your tent when you leave camp take a nap in centeroo $1 grilled cheese!
*i like coconuts, you can break them open they smell like ladies lyin in the sun** *Hell I don't even know where I am** *for now I must sit here and ponder the yonder: The herbivores did well cause their food didn't never run** *We listen, if it feels good We shake** *You made a big impression for a girl of your size, Now I can't get by without you and your big brown eyes.**

I like to make sandwiches the night before Roo, then cut them into halves or quarters before putting them in ziplocs in the cooler. Sometimes, especially late at night, making a sandwich seems like a lot of effort. And sometimes you don't want to eat a lot but know you should eat something, so the smaller portions makes it easier to deal with.

okay sorry if this has been asked before but what the hell is corn! I see people being like "ugh i ate so much corn" or "we found some good corn". WTF!? Just pm me if its not allowed to be posted here. I checked wikipedia and urban dictionary too... hahaha
Also, I have an all purpose tent. Not a summer tent. And a shade that will fit over the tent, However, it is not super quality and has gotten bent in high winds on the beach. Will it handle bonnaroo? I dont wanna wake up at 5am because a big ass shade just collapsed my tent, or walk back tired and under the influence of god knows what to realize my tent is dead.

Corn is what you nom. OM NOM NOM. You know what I mean. There are no druqks at Bonnaroo, and anyone who tells you otherwise is a dirty lying Commie bastard. However, there is a LOT of corn and other maize-based produce.
getting there too early. if you get there right when the gates open you will be pushed to the back of the farm. we always pull onto bushy branch around 3 or 4pm on thursday and always get a decent plot.
it is close to impossible to stay with your group during the entire broo. if or when you get seperated dont worry. just go to the shows you want to see. dont waste your time looking for your friends. #1, you will regroup at camp later #2, dont sacrifice the shows you want to see. Unless you are a lil lad or are in a state where you may need medical attention. LOL!

Yes, exactly what the person above me said. If you lose your friends, don't go looking for them for any more than 3 minutes, after that, just go to see the shows you want to see, there is 60, 70, 80, 90 thousand people there, chances are that you won't find them, just go solo, and chances are, you'll probably meet up with some cool people within 30 minutes anyways, you're never alone at bonnaroo... we are all one.
Oh, and if you smoke cigarettes, don't throw them on the ground, someone has to clean up every single cigarette butt, and if you're like me, you'll probably go through 3 or 4 packs, that's alot of cigarettes to pick up... put them out, through them in the trash, have a plastic bag to put them in, empty cigarette pack, or whatever, just don't throw them on the ground for the sake of the Clean Vibes crew

i picked up some of camel's new smokeless, spitless tobacco just to try it. anyway it comes in a tin can that works perfectly as an ashtray/ butt disposal thing and it does not make your pocket smell like an ashtray. i used it a few times to try it out and its awesome. just dump/ rinse it when its full and you are good to go!

my biggest mistake was completely forgetting to bring shoes. I still had the greatest experience, but my feet killed. I'm an idiot for going bare footin for the car ride. I also should have made better friends with my neighbors. I didnt know people wanted to get to know eachother so much and what benefits that could hold. but it was just my girlfriend and I so we were kind of in our own little world. We napped in Centeroo WAY too much. Apparently that parade that everyone talks about went right past me as I was passed out under a tree near the lighting bugs. So, I was bummed that I missed that. But, I tlak about Bonnaroo on a daily basis so I don't think any of these mistakes were THAT terrible, but this year I know what's up and plan on taking advantage of every precious second while wearing some shoes. There's nothing quite like shoes to enhance your festival experience.
Everyone always talks about cooking and recipes.. anyone here just grab some bread, pb, fruit, doritos and go??
I eat pop-tarts in the morning and PB sandwiches with some fruit the rest of the day and maybe some crackers or snacks. It's too much of a hassle for me to bring a grill and cook a decent meal.
