Lumineers and Of Monsters and Men. They aren’t the same band, but many confuse the two. Sure, they have a similar sound, and they both chant ‘Hey’ a lot, but they are different bands.
I know they aren’t playing against one another, but that doesn’t mean we can’t put them head to head.
Lumineers or Of Monsters and Men, who do you like more? Who would you see if you could only see one of them?
Personally, I love OMAM’s album so much more, from beginning to end, and am looking forward to their show quite a bit.

I'm a bigger fan of Monsters and Men. Yes, they are folky, but they have an original sound. Other than "Ho Hey," the Lumineers remind me too much of Bob Dylan.
Wasn't really into either, then my wife made me watch a yewtube video of an acoustic performance of OMAM's Mountain Sound @ Sasquatch 2012. That is much more my speed and made me an instant fan. Would love to see them in that format.
OMAM was the first concert ever I had an "out of body experience" with about a month ago at Red Rocks. EASY choice for me. Lumineer's self titled album is "meh" in my opinion but OMAM's My Head is an Animal is something special to me. I'm sure a lot will hate on the folky pop here but their unique duo of voices just does something for me.
Their show was phenomenal FYI so if you are on the fence and kinda like their sound I'd give it a shot at Roo. Come have a cheers I'll be hanging off the rail most likely

Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.

OM&M but just on the reasoning of how powerful they were live. For a band that doesn't really use more then 4 chords I must say they were tight as shiz live and had this very epic sound to them. Plus, I'm kind of in love with Nana soooo. I can't vote against her. . .
The Lumineers have a powerful live performance. Have most of you guys not seen them yet? The show and crowd are really energized.
I haven't seen them yet but my really good friend said they were amazing. I was just really impressed with OM&M, like overly impressed. I may have a different opinion after Roo though who knows
sidenote: I like OM&M studio album better too but thats just me
I've seen numerous OMAM live performances on Youtube and I'm just in love. I think I enjoy their live performances better than their album, even. I've seen some Lumineers on late night shows and on Youtube and they are good but I didn't fall in love with them like I did OMAM.
I'm definitely seeing OMAM.
Lumineers being so close to Mumford on the schedule - flame away but I am a HUGE Mumford fan, and want to get as close as possible for them so I'll likely skip Lumineers. I figure I'll probably have more chances to see Lumineers some other time anyway.
Also should note it is OMAM's last U.S. tour stop, aside from Coachella largest venue they've ever played in terms of festival size, and they are getting 30 mins more then they got at Coachella. It is going to be a quacking blast.

Can't say I like the Lumineers at all. However, OM&M don't win as the lesser of two evils. After SNL, I've been hitting My Head is an Animal pretty frequently.
(1) Damon Albarn (2) Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds (3) King Khan & His Shrines (4) Ty Segall (5) Ms Lauryn Hill (6) Darkside (7) Kanye (8) Janelle Monae (9) Goat (10) Meshuggah.
So for the people who saw both shows, which was better in your opinion?
I was going in with a bias toward OMAM and that remains true. They had a more complete sound and more energy than Lumineers did. But this might be do the fact that I was closer for them then I was for Lumineers. But when the band has 7 members who are all into what they are playing , it`s hard not to fall for them. Especially with a duo of singers like Nana and Raggi.

I do like both of them but The Lumineers are the better sounding band for me. The Of Monsters and Men album, although enjoying, was pretty good except that I thought the songs all sounded the same.
You know what's funny? I love both bands and originally they were near the top, but I didn't make OMAM and I sat through about 20 minutes of the Lumineers before leaving to go meet chicojuarz at brooers

I'm generally not a fan of this style of folk that has become the soup du jour the last little while but I will say that I was taken by OM&M last weekend.
I wasn't able to catch much of OM&M, despite really wanting to see them, and what I did catch was from the Brooers patio. Caught all of Lumineers, and thought they were terrific.

They were pretty much tied going into Roo this year for me. Same sound/same band kinda vibe. After catching both sets I cwould give OM&M a solid 8 and Lumineers a rough 4. Lumineers just bored me while OM&M just kept the energy flowing. And their setlist was perfectly constructed to keep everyone in the palm of their hands. Also it was ballsy to not close with Little Talks. I was hoping they would finish strong and they didnt dissapoint. One of my top 5 shows of the weekend.
Loved both to begin with and saw both at Roo though I was more looking forward to the Lumineers set.. I thought OM&M was having sound issues (mics too quiet) but they were awesome otherwise. The Lumineers were a Roo highlight for me and I think I'd be more likely to see them on their own in the future. Both sounded just as good if not better than they do recorded which was a pleasant surprise.
Had a good close spot for OMAM, so no sound problems. Their show was great, had a lot of fun and it was a great way to kick off Friday. I saw like 8 minutes of the lumineers really far away, could barely hear, so i just went to grab a spot for Jack Johnson.
