In 2010, I saw Hot Rize in a nearly-empty That Tent. Let's say one were interested in checking out a (relatively) uncrowded tent show this year. Challenge question: Not counting the café stages, which tent show (or shows) this year will have the fewest attendees?
Just on number of adds and competition it looks like Trixie Whitley, Fatoumata Diawara, Amadou & Miriam, Drew Holcomb, Dwight Yoakam, The Rubens, Black Prairie, and Divine Fits could all be relatively empty. Divine Fits have a good number of adds, but all 4 acts they're against have ~4 times as many. A lot of those are the first acts on in the day. As far as late night, Porter Robinson looks to be outmatched, but I'm guessing he'll still be busy. Bustle could be too, but since it'll be the last thing, I'm not sure.
10/19/14-Phantogram
11/29/14-New Politics, Bad Suns
4/17/15-Hippo Campus, Night Riots, The Mowglis
5/1/15-Penn State Movin' On Music Festival-New Politics, Passion Pit, Big Gigantic, Big Sean
6/11/15-6/14/15-Bonnaroo!
6/21/15 - Paul McCartney
6/27/15-Halsey, Imagine Dragons
Aoife O'Donovan - Sunday - That Tent - 12:15 PM Noam Pikelny & Friends - Sunday - That Tent - 4:15 PM (oldies will show up & they don't use the app) Fatoumata Diaware - Friday - That Tent - 3 PM The Rubens - Sunday - This Tent - 12:15 PM Black Prairie - Sunday - That Tent - 2:45 PM
This may just be the demographic that uses the app vs. who likes a certain type of music - but the entire That Tent looks to be empty on Sunday outside of the Superjam, no other artist has over 900 ads.
edit - 3 people in a row all think a like.
Actually That Tent looks to empty ALL weekend outside of Thursday.

Fatoumata Diawara seems like it'll be a really small show. I'm cool with that though because I value shade in the daytime and her music sounds nice. Small shows are the best; there weren't very many folks at Red Baraat last year and they were fantastic!
Yeah, I suspect the Bluegrass Tent (where I will be all day save a quick pop over to the Ford Garage to catch The Rubens) will have a respectable crowd, but not be really crowded. I was very disappointed in how few people went to Sam Bush last year. That said, I don't expect any tent this year to hit the level of empty we saw last year with Unchained or Pedrito Martinez (poor Pedrito was good but at one point there was, no kidding, barely twice as many people in the tent as on the stage).
Aoife O'Donovan's new album is a stunner. People are going to regret missing that show.

The afternoon shows are sometimes not too populated. I saw Janka Nabay and His Bubu Gang last year, with maybe like 15 people, and danced like mad. Great, great show! However it actually may have been the "type" of music rather than the "time" of the music.

Shocked to see Drew Holcomb on this list, I think he's the perfect tent act for an afternoon. And Kacey Musgraves is pretty quality, I'll be there kicking off the day

George I dunno man, I think Bustle is gonna be quite happening that night. Your only other options are SynthPop and Hip-Hop.
Possibly. I think many people may think its "just another cover band" a la Unchained, or just wiped since it will be late saturday night. I would expect the end of their set to be somewhat empty...which is fine by me. It's one of my top 5 anticipated shows.

I'm in the same boat as you. Saturday seems to be the day where there's not TOO much that I want to see, so I plan on hanging out at camp for a good portion and partying with Bustle until the sun comes up.

I saw them last year too while I was waiting for my phone to charge in the stubhub tent. I just happened to stumble in there, but had an awesome time! The uncrowded sets are way fun if the crowd is into it.

I think high-school and college girls will flock to Kasey's show. That demographic is driving the massive popularity of today's hit country. Those girls also are less likely to work their schedule on the website, so her numbers are probably deceptively low. I agree that Aoife will be lightly attended. I'm splitting the two sets, but I'm looking more forward to Aoife--I loved Crooked Still.
Death grips and swans get my vote. Good thing I enjoy them both.
Death Grips will be packed.
you think? im really only basing what i said on the fact that im the only person i know or can find who likes them... im going in a group of 8 and over the past 3 months have tried again and again to get one of them into death grips, and everybody seems to hate them. idk.. ill be there for sure. YAH

I'll see you there! And yeah I'm expecting it to be packed. Same for Swans I'm afraid! At least allot of folks on this board seem to really like them, unfortunately I'll miss them because of Bob Saget.

It definitely won't be one of the least crowded tents. I'l totally take lightly packed as it's going to be one hot and sweaty show.
