Honestly I'm nervous because I have some slight anxiety issues and there's going to be so many people there. So basically I'm wanting to get over myself and have the most awesome time ever, by seeing the most amazing music and comedy shows. However I was wondering if there was anything less obvious that I need to check out? Any crazy myths or urban legends of the Roo that would be fun to search for, or read up on, or other fun things to do like that?

One of my favorite parts about Roo or any other fest for that matter is meeting tons of cool, new people...granted there will be some people that are doing there own thing and won't want to talk to ya, but the vast majority are awesome people...so while you're seeing some awesome music, meet some awesome people!
Just take it all in and make new friends! If you've got an hour or more between shows that you're scheduled to see take the time to check out some new music or grab a bite to eat from one of the many great food vendors. You can never do everything at Bonnaroo so let your mood guide you and just enjoy the moment.

Sounds like as long as I chill and don't worry too much about cramming so much into my 4 days I'll have a better time than if I do plan too much. I had a schedule set up, but there are plenty of times where I don't know what to do. So if my group doesn't decide on anything maybe I'll just explore!

More advice would be to not worry about staying with your group too much, like kinda agree beforhand that it will be cool if you all get split up.

I'm extremely excited about meeting so many new people! I'm a pretty laid back guy and am usually very friendly, so things should go pretty well in that aspect I'd like to think.

Phone service is virtually non existent.
See, I've read mixed things. That for verizon it's usually been ok. If that's the case then I'll figure something out. Honestly I don't really plan on using my phone much other than maybe one or two texts a day and maybe pictures every now and then if I don't end up with a camera. So maybe I'll be fine.
Last year, my friend and I split up to see separate shows but picked a meeting place for the shows we were going to see together. Definitely make time to explore on your own. Sometimes the tents get really packed, so don't panic if you can't get close or lose your spot. Hope you have a great weekend!

Thanks for the advice about the tents. I'll try to get to tent shows early then for sure. I don't really have serious anxiety attacks or anything, but I have started sweating and struggling to think properly in crowds at times. So I'll be trying to cut loose and stuff. Not to say I'm a goodie two shoes or straightedge or anything, I just want to get over this strange nervousness.

Word of advice regarding your phone be sure to keep it in airplane mode when your not using it, last year my phone died after only maybe 12 hours because it was constantly searching for a signal. Learnt my lesson.

Ah Airplane Mode, the most useful, yet unfortunately somehow the most forgettable feature on cell phones. Well I'll definitely try to remember it this week!

Take a look at your schedule. Narrow it down to two bands that you "can't miss" per day, and make that you only don't miss your "must see" and don't worry if you miss the other ones. Make sure you go to at least one late night in a tent, when you get there, make friends with the person to your right, and when the music hits dance your ass off, and share a smile with that person.
Anxiety -- they call me "Grandpa Frank" for a reason, don't worry about all the little kids running around in Glow Shit and be you. Do what you do that makes you happy. Whether it's laying in the back of the What field listening to Mumson or riding the rail for ZZ Top.
Again, always be ready for whatever your schedule or your plans to change. If your tent gets slashed with a knife, pull the duct tape out and roll with the punches... there really is nothing you can do to fix it.
Most importantly, once you get there "we're all in this together" and we're all sharing a similar experience that will never be replicated. So relax and have a good time, and remember you don't find Shakedown Street, Shakedown Street finds you...

I really appreciate all of the recommendations and input! Heard of both barely listened to either. In fact I've heard a sample of Japandroids and wasn't FJM featured on Kid Cudi's Indicud? Pretty cool stuff heard on both ends. Also I'd love to see ZZ Top as Grandpa Frank said however aren't Wutang Clan and the Hip Hop Super Jam during that time? If so I don't think I could miss that!

Well I've never been prescribed anything. So I guess I'll just deal with it on my own. It's okay, I think I'll learn to get outside my comfort zone more from it.

I'm wearing a joy division shirt right now too so you should take my advice, Jo bro

hahaha, A very interesting reason. I'll consider it.

My dear friend, I'm delighted to inform you that only the Hip Hop Super Jam conflicts with ZZ Top because when they announced the new super jam they switched Wu-Tang's set time with The XX. So now The XX, ZZ Top, and Hip Hop Super jam conflict during Friday's late night. And Wu-Tang now starts performing on The Which at 7:30 and is supposed to play until 9:00, when Macca starts.
Only thing I can tell you, is to do your own thing. if you want to be somewhere, dont let others hold you back. get moving when you wanna get moving, go see what you want to see, talk to who you want to talk to. just as much as bonnaroo is a community experience, it is important to make sure that YOU have fun. its almost impossible not to. you wont be thinking, "jeez, this set really blows without my best friend here."
I feel you on the anxiety thing. I wouldnt say I have an issue with it, but like anyone, I have experienced anxiety and what it can be like. Once you are actually sitting there in your camp, everything will be ok. Dont worry so much about the schedule; just take it one day at a time because you may plan to see all these bands but then in reality not have the energy to do it. thats fine, just chill out at camp and rest.
bottom line is this is your experience, do whatever you want with it.

Yeah my group slowed me down my first year, last three years I did my own thing and had a better time

Go exploring on your own, see a show from the front row, try to meet as many people as possible, give lots of ^5s and hugs, walk through tent only Quite a few of us meet up around the back left of the soundboard so if anything hang around there and if you recognize any of us from our avatars, or we recognize you, say Hi!

Yeah I could see high fives and hugs being popular. Since I'm not normally the type to hug strangers, do I just proudly proclaim that I'm giving out free hugs to everyone within earshot? Honestly I'm really close to having the memory of a goldfish sometimes so hopefully others will recognize me.

This will be my first 'Roo, but this seems like a great way to enjoy the event. High five.
My first Roo, I insisted on having a schedule and sticking to it. I enjoyed myself, but not nearly as much as the following year when I didn't stick to my schedule and instead let my ears guide me. Many times, I'd head towards a stage, then something would catch my ear and I'd end up in a totally different place. I also learned that it's okay if I lose my friends in the crowd, because there are always more to be made!
One of my favorite memories is not having a plan on where to go next, then finding myself at the empty Solar Stage with no one around (it was late night) and just laying in the grass listening to the music that drifted by from a bunch of different stages. I'm pretty sure that's the first time I just let myself stop and take it all in
Trust me when I say you'll have no trouble finding something to do/see/listen to between sets. The people watching is fantastic, and new friends are all around.
My piece of advice - pick your "must see" artists for the fest. Make sure there aren't too many - you won't see everyone. Talk about your "must see" artists with your new neighbor friends, etc. Chances are, everyone in your group are going to, at some point, want to watch different shows. Some of my best friends made at Roo were strangers who I bonded with over "must see" artists that no one in my group cared about, but they were also stoked to see.
