1:07:29 through when Jeezy drops Bitch Get Your Mind Right is straight up insane.
Not sure if anyone else was as into this type of rap back then. If you weren't aware, these two were beefing. Jeezy literally sent his friends to go rob (allegedly.. probably was a hit) Gucci. They broke into his house as Gucci was having sex but he still pulled out a gun and killed one of Jeezys best friends. Then the rumor is he pissed on the body and buried it behind a JR High School or something. Then he wrote very detailed diss songs about this occasion and now 15 years later he's just sitting here performing those disses to Jeezy's face and saying shit like "damn I sent your homeboy back to you in a coffin" and shit like that. Unclear how rehearsed it all was though as Jeezy responds with a speech about how real he is which transitions into my favorite all time Jeezy track that starts off with "Im the realest..." Then at the end they play So Icy together which was a song that was connected to the beef as they were originally arguing over who's album that song should go on. And at the end Gucci says "you extended the olive branch I accept that, its all love." It seemed tense though during that section of time.
I guess I didn't know the details right, because I thought that Jeezy put a hit on Gucci's chain in a song and some random lady went and robbed him when Jeezy wasn't necessarily being all that serious about it. That's the story I heard on some TV show a long time ago, probably some VH1 talking heads type show.
Seems as though Gucci got robbed for his chain this year, too. If this is true, that is:
I give the edge to Jeezy here. And speaking of Jezzy, The Recession 2 dropped today. Kinda "eh" tbh.
Me too. TM101 has a bunch of songs that are just better than anything Gucci ever did imo. Of course new Jeezy is going to suck though. His music was all about energy and that just isn't the move at age 43. Him being "serious" is not going to hit ever.

You can hear him put the 10k on his chain in this diss track. I don't think there is perfect public knowledge about Young Jeezys friends breaking into Gucci's spot armed after this song. Like whether they were like "hell I'll take the 10k even though Im already close with jeezy" or if Jeezy separately ordered a hit. Or if Jeezy actually had nothing to do with it. A little unclear. Gucci's interpretation is that Jeezy sent his people to kill Gucci.

Never been a huge Russ fan but his new "Chomp" EP is pretty nice. All the features and producers are wild. Black Thought, Benny the Butcher, KXNG Crooked, Busta Rhymes, DJ Premier, 9th Wonder, Alchemist.

It's amazing how nearly every song on the original Man On The Moon can be so insanely catchy, even bordering on corny at times, and then halfway through III I don't remember one melody. And it does sound disturbingly close to Travis Scott even though Travis was influenced by him. I had to put it down and I may give it another go with a different mindset later.
